I'll take the guy who just made the Serie A team of the season and who has the best goals to caps ratio in USMNT history despite playing on the wing for the worst manager in USMNT history.

Shut the program down.

We have to bubble wrap him for 6 months come January 2026!

Interesting comparison
Eden Hazard Career: 167 goals, 150 assists, 623 appearances
Christian Pulisic Career: 82 goals, 75 assists, 367 appearances

Love listening to Zlatan talk about Pulisic

we need as many friendlies as possible against legit first-selection european powers on their soil in the next 18 months

i hope poch is all over the fed to get out in front of this problem and spend whatever is necessary to make this happen

any friendly in the US before the world cup is of very little value regardless of who it is

we need to play AT LEAST 2 of the following, preferably 4, on their soil, with their federation guaranteeing a first-selection

england
france
germany
italy
netherlands
portugal
spain

uefa nations league fixtures (2025):
feb 21 matchday 1
feb 25 matchday 2
apr 4 matchday 3
apr 8 matchday 4
may 30 matchday 5
june 3 matchday 6

fifa national team windows before the mundial:
17–25 march 2 games :: DOES NOT CONFLICT WITH NATIONS LEAGUE :: INCREDIBLY HIGH-VALUE WINDOW
2–10 june 2 games :: conflict w/ nations league matchday 6 on 3 june + season is over players are gassed = low-value we're not getting a europower
14 june–6 july Gold Cup :: x
1–9 september 2 games :: way too early in the season to learn anything but europower federations might be amenable
6–14 october 2 games :: INCREDIBLY HIGH-VALUE WINDOW
10–18 November 2 games :: INCREDIBLY HIGH-VALUE WINDOW
21 december–18 january 2026  Africa Cup of Nations
23–31 march 2026 2 games :: INCREDIBLY HIGH-VALUE WINDOW
1–9 june 2026 2 games :: conmebol will be salivating to get these - we should take our pick based on form (today would be argentina & uruguay)

so we have 3 windows for 2 matches each in 25 and 1 window for 2 matches in the spring of 26

that's 8 possible games in 4 windows

if i were in charge we would play a "2nd-tier" in the first game in each window followed by a europower in the 2nd game something like this:

scotland then england
belgium then france/netherlands
denmark then germany
suisse/austria then italy
greece then portugal/spain

give poch a good look at 15-17 players in the first game and then play the top side fit for purpose against the europower in the 2nd game

What about friendlies AT:

Nigeria

Bolivia

Japan

Egypt

Colombia

Australia

Turkey

What about friendlies AT:

Nigeria - zero value, requires 3 days minimum

Bolivia - are you high?

Japan - 27 total time zone shifts, 2 flights 14+ hours, 4 days minimum - MAYBE - will discuss below

Egypt - no value + $10m security budget = no but morocco i can see as a precursor to portugal or spain, security probably half ($5m)

Colombia - if they are in form then they get 1 of the 2 slots in june 26 just before the cup

Australia - insane - double the japan travel/time problem to learn nothing about your squad - AC Milan are going to be down with this - right

Turkey - THIS ONE IS INTERESTING

re: the turk are in that same bucket as greece and morocco as a quality test in game 1 before a major power in game 2

the security problem could change significantly if the russia/ukraine and syria situations really settle down next year

currently:

14 morocco

28 turk

33 egypt

38 greece

these are the "game 1" mediterranean nations before playing portgual or spain

re: nippon, we need to take advantage of the 2 games in each window; nippon are 15, korea team fighting are 23, so this makes sense as a 2-game window; pairing the nips with a game in the US or europe/mediterranean is not worth the tokyo travel hit

Saw where Jozy Altidore is part of a group (Tracy McGrady, Vince Carter) to get a minority ownership position in the Buffalo Bills.

could really hamstring the franchise

What the fuck does Altidore have any money from? Or is he just a name.

No clue.  I know he doesn't have Vinsanity or TMac $$.  He may have been a good steward of his career earnings and decided the benefits of being a minority partner in an NFL franchise are about the best he could do with is stack.  Probably not far off on his supposition either.

1) Jozy Altidore's wife, SLOANE STEPHENS, is an American tennis player less than 1 year older than the daughter of the Buffalo Bills' owners, JESSICA PEGULA, who is also a top American professional tennis player. Sloane & Jessica have likely known each other for the better part of 2 decades and are probably decent friends, at the very least. They have both gotten married in the last 2-3 years and can likely relate to each other pretty well. A good fit for someone that you are bringing on board the mothership.

2) Like Vince Carter (6 seasons) and Tracy McGrady (3 seasons), Jozy Altidore played professionally in Toronto (6 1/2 seasons), which is right across the water from Buffalo.

3) The Pegulas are trying to get local funding assistance to build a new stadium. The Buffalo locals aren't too excited about it. Perhaps getting Canadians to consider building a new stadium for the NFL's first overseas franchise is part of the plan.

Looking at all of the obvious reasons first, I think that bringing Jozy onboard is a pretty logical decision if the owners are trying to give themselves as many options as possible going forward.

And I didn't mention that the three new minority owners give additional meaning to the term "minority owner". That could be a plus when looking for former Toronto athletes who are friends of the family.

Google AI didn’t think much of my Toronto theory.

Well… Toronto is still the common attribute that ties the three black former athletes together AND Toronto is still just across the water from Buffalo. 🦬

Perhaps these three are being brought onboard to help sell luxury boxes to Toronto based corporations/ law firms.

The Pegula also own the Buffalo Sabres (NHL). Apparently some private equity firm(s) own part of the Bills with the Pegulas and now the 3 former athletes.

I was going to say - they literally are building a stadium right now, so any idea of relocating seems like it isn't happening.

I had to go back and remind myself of the context of this. We were in with a draw at that point but would have been eliminated because Panama came back to win against Bolivia. And now I'm ragey again.

Balogun goes under the knife - out until April.

Must have been really messed up for him and the club to basically end his season. He’ll have time to make it to the Gold Cup at least.

Jedi transfer rumors picking up. Pool, United, City, and maybe Real all linked.

Getting grouped in the Copa America was the best thing to happen to the team since they tied England in Qatar.

I personally love that that fucking loser of a coach was revealed to be a worthless fraud before he destroyed the team’s hopes for a competent 2026 World Cup.

It was fucking pathetic. Our game plan against Uruguay was an abject disaster. We did't do anything of note against them to make them worry about losing. When you look at the stats for the game, you can see that Gregg wasn't playing to win the game. Man, he fucking sucked.

Pulisic: 'Crazy' to say USMNT players behind Berhalter's return

https://prosoccerwire.usatoday.com/story/sports/usmnt/2024/12/19/pulisic-crazy-usmnt-players-behind-berhalter-return/77086779007/#

I love Pulisic, but the guy really is missing the point or he is now trying to deflect. The USSF very much took support of berhalter into the equation when deciding to bring him back. I get the players didn’t demand his return. But come on man.

As far as our pool goes I actually think he could do well in the PL. He's a big body and a natural finisher.

Antonee Robinson is currently the #1 USMNT player, he is playing at a level I never imagined he'd get to.

Coming up I thought he was just an insane athlete that played soccer but now his skill has surpassed his athletic abilities.
