Ridding themselves of Vrabel indicates to me they want to move on from Tannehill and find a more innovating Coach for Levis.  Just how many more miles does Henry have left in him?

Running backs are a dime a dozen. Najee went for 1,000 yards, but there are 50 other guys who could have gone for 1000 on 4ypc. Thus, even as their best offensive player, he is JAG.
In 17 games, too. He's no Barry Foster that's for sure.

Henry is a free agent. This is likely a complete reboot.

I hope Josh Harris and Magic Johnson are aware the Commanders are not a basketball team. Though they have played such bad football for the last 30 years might as well give it a shot as a NBA franchise.

Seriously though, Myers is just there to advise on the transition I don't think he will actually end up as an executive for the team. But we'll see.

Wink knows how to do it. I wish I was Wink…

Angered that the team was firing two of his closest lieutenants, New York Giants defensive coordinator Wink Martindale cursed out head coach Brian Daboll during a meeting on Monday, a source confirmed to ESPN.

The New York Post reported that Martindale "said his piece, got up, slammed the door and walked out of the building" after the Giants fired outside linebackers coach Drew Wilkins and defensive assistant Kevin Wilkins. Both had come over with Martindale from Baltimore, and Drew Wilkins was considered Martindale's right-hand man.

The rocky relationship between Daboll and Martindale is at the center of an impending split. It was reported back in November that the two were in a "bad place."

A source said they expected Martindale to resign following Monday's incident. The Giants had still not heard from Martindale as of Tuesday evening. He returned to his home in Sarasota, Florida, on Tuesday afternoon.

Martindale doesnt want to listen to anybody. The problem is he isn't the HC. That's probably why he was pushed out in Baltimore as well.

Vrabel be great in San Diego. They have good pieces on defense. Just hire a good OC to handle the offense. It’s not a bad gig. I wouldn’t necessarily want to go back to the pats. A lot of the good beat reporters have said Bill is begging for his job. That’s desperation when you don’t even know who the QB is and bringing back Josh and Mike is all well and good but why would they want that same song and dance? Bill is just getting older and pissier.
And that’s fair.

Bill has gone down the same path as too many great coaches, letting his ego grow beyond the size of the stadium. The nepotism for his sons, the pathetic effort in the draft, terrible decisions on coaches, awful talent eval on offense. The converse is this years team had a killer defense that with any competence on offense would have been a contender.

New England immediately got worse when Brady left. Tampa immediately wins the Super Bowl and a contender the next year. Not hard to see who was the driving force behind that dynasty. Bill hitched his wagon to shit ass Mac Jones. And yes, Bill became Mack Brown once the Vince/Colt era was over. Very lazy. In fact, Brady masked a lot of Bill's ego when they were together. Bill would draft the most random people.

I guess never understood why it has to be one or the other. We can’t just acknowledge that it was an ideal partnership between a QB who played cold blooded sound football but rarely ever put up the gaudy season numbers you have seen from some of the other QBs (yes he leads in all time passing but also played basically 3 more full seasons over the next closest guy) AND a guy who put together very stout defenses and surrounded Brady with the type of players on offense that were ideal for the type of QB he was stylistically.

They both benefited tremendously from one another for two decades.

Tampa was loaded. Brady is not dumb. The defense harassed the hell out of Mahomes. Four turnovers created versus the Saints.

Bill had the Cleveland Browns as the 3rd best team in the NFL one year. I’m sure he had nothing to do with the Rams scoring 3 points in the Super Bowl. Or that the D scored and held the greatest show on turf to well below expectations.

They did it together. Just like everybody else Bill probably lost a bit as he aged and his assistants kept revolving but to downplay his greatness is ridiculous.

In the last 40 years, only 5 teams have won it scoring 20 points or less. Two of those wins were the Patriots. One of those losses was the Patriots. The fewest points scored in a Super Bowl win - the Patriots. The fewest points given up in a Super Bowl - the Patriots and Cowboys (1972).

The Jets, Bills, Dolphins were generally trash during that time too so that was helpful. Matt Cassell of USC fame led them to 10 wins one season even though it amounted to nothing. The tuck rule was bs. Lots of great defense. Lots of underappreciated players. That’s largely Bill.

When you hire BoB to fix your shitty offense, it's time to step down.

Bill was the reason they held LA to 3 points in their 13-3 Super Bowl win. Brady was the reason they didn't lost it 3-0.

The shitty head coach remains though. If Fields is their QB next year, will have to learn another system. ea64c705c624a0eb74706f74a53a0542.jpg

If any other coach hired the Patricia/Judge combo to coach and develop their young QB(not that i think Mac Jones is any good) they would be lambasted. When Bill did it it was like "oh he's thinking outside the box". It was an epic failure and we all knew it would be.

Winning 6 super bowls buys a lot of leeway i guess. But i just cant fathom continuing with this madness if you're NE. At the very least he needs to not be their GM. They have zero pro bowlers this year. That's some really bad GMing.

Bill was the reason they held LA to 3 points in their 13-3 Super Bowl win. Brady was the reason they didn't lost it 3-0.
And Brady was the reason they won the 2 previous Super Bowls against Seattle and Atlanta. He played out of his mind when it mattered in the 4th in both of those. And his 4th quarter play almost didn't matter because the defense couldn't stop Seattle either. But Pete Carroll got cute and didn't run Lynch from the 2 and the rest is history.

How are both of those guys remembered if Vinatieri decided to miss some of those kicks during that run?

Seattle has a better roster than LA yet lost to them twice. I think Seattle will want an offensive guy.

It doesn't make sense for the Bears to keep their Head Coach... dumb

It would be hilarious if Harbaugh replaced Pete.

Why would he decide to miss kicks, is he throwing the game?

Bill is the goat. Brady is the goat. Brady doesn’t win all those rings without Bill and vice versa. Kinda like Jerry and Jimmy. Tom went to a team built for him to fall into; they were great the year before except for Jameis. For both to do what they did in an era designed for parity is remarkable. It’s coaching, it’s player leadership, it’s ultimate team play, it’s humility.

I wish Bill had quit after Brady left. His decisions on coordinators has been bullshit; his constant trading finally backfired.

really surprised at the Pete Carrol news... unless he decided that being over 70 he didnt want to coach anymore.

Probably saw Vrabel available and are going to pounce on that

Or if Eli was called for in the grasp or doesn't drop a dime with that sideline pass in the SB Rematch?

Carroll gives it to Lynch at the goalline?

Shit, does any of that happen if Bledsoe doesn't get injured?

Still don't know why he let Wilson throw that pass!

Same reason he had Reggie Bush on the sideline in 2006.

Same reason he had Reggie Bush on the sideline in 2006.
True.

A repeat NC, then a repeat SB is crazy to think about

I for one will be happy to never see Carroll and his stupid gum chomping on the sideline ever again.

Yeah, the team announcement is weird, and the media is reporting that he's "out." A truly amicable change would have him announce his retirement or move to the front office. I honestly don't know what to make of it, because even if it wasn't truly "amiciable," they should give him the chance to make the announcement himself that he's ready to step away.

Carroll is a year older than Belichik. At some point, the grind of an NFL season isn't worth it at that age.
