May 30, 20241 yr Mike White was blasted the other day as a whiny baby because he suggested that maybe the NCAA consider rotating the WCWS to different locations. Maybe because this happens every year like clockwork in OKC in May/June. It needs to rotate IMO, it's truly a competitive advantage for OU in addition to the weather.
May 30, 20241 yr They should move it to Arlington, tie down some padded bases, and put in a short fence like they did for the Bad News Bears at the Astrodome.

Someone would have to step up and build a world class complex like ASA Hall of Fame Stadium (or Devon Park as it is now called).

The only way this happens is if Disney decides to add it to their Wide World of Sports park. They have the means and the property to make it happen, and the weather would be much more cooperative in Florida this time of year.

Yeah, my thought was that Disney, through their partnership with ESPN, does it at the WWSP.

May 30, 20241 yr So glad OSU got the late game. More post midnight games like baseball in the conference tournament, and weather wasn’t even a factor there.

We could have already been invited to and accepted an invite to another tournament. I assume they try to rotate teams and ensure other teams get a chance to go and play there.

May 30, 20241 yr Author I wonder how Canady will pitch in ~75% humidity today. That was pretty much our super regional weather for 3 days.

I'd rather cut out one of our shitty home tournaments against a bunch of crap teams than Clearwater, but maybe we are on an "every other year" rotation with Clearwater.
May 30, 20241 yr I just do not believe that this location doesn't make a big difference when they get to fill the stands with 95% OU fans for every game they're in.

May 30, 20241 yr With the ou thing and the WCWS, would people be advocating for the CWS to move out of Omaha if Nebraska baseball all of a sudden got good? It feels like OKC was a fine location until ou and OSU started getting good, which is what their programs are supposed to do. I don’t think we’d feel the same if it was always in San Antonio and we had won 3 straight NCs. Of course we wouldn’t want it moved and we would say “not our fault we are a good program” (or at least I’d hope we’d look at it like that)

Most definitely. The Huskers have only been to the CWS a few times. They pretty much suck at baseball, so that's why no one has really bitched much about Omaha. Honestly, the CWS would be much easier to rotate than the WCWS due to the stadium issue.

I heard that exact same argument on Sirius this morning. Fact is, these women need a facility dedicated to softball and Devon Park is one of the very few in the country capable of hosting. It’s not why OU wins, they win because they have had the best players and their school spends more on softball than all others. They also have a strong NIL program in place for softball. If Texas and others want to compete then they need to put their money where their mouth is.
