RT was a key reason for the emergence of Texas basketball onto the national stage under Barnes. Kevin Durant came to Austin because of him. He stepped down from a HC position to become an assistant under Beard in a move to return Texas to the level of expectation he helped create. He stepped in and took over during some of the worst days of the program and kept things together to deliver one of the best seasons in program history.

Rodney Terry gave more sweat, blood, and tears to the University of Texas Men's Basketball program than any of us ever could. Any comments to him other than "thank you" are spoken by a cunt.

I want to thank Coach Terry for pouring his heart and soul into this program. He was forced into a tough situation and did a damn good job. I wish him the very best.

Okay Mrs. Terry. Thanks.

I would have given my blood, sweat and tears for the program for far less than $15M but that's just me. I hope RT can recover from such nasty comments on X.

Took one of the best rosters UTEP had in years, which he deserves credit for, and won all of 12 games.

Most UTEP fans assumed he was fired.

The coaching death watches for our big three men's sports and the more visible women's sports are always brutal to observe, but it's tough to look away. I logged on this morning hoping the firing was done, because it seems inevitable.

Texas coaches, despite their apparent flaws, are generally very fine people or they wouldn't have been hired. It's unfortunate that social media allow the worst of our collective habits to be magnified.

That's the main reason I have taken voluntary leave from UT boards several times over the years. Most of the teens and early '20s has seemed like a beating. But at least with Surly there are drinking, travel and music threads to hang out on. Think I'll retreat to those for a couple of weeks, but all in all, it's a better time to be a Horns fan than it was not too long ago.

Thanks, RT, and hook 'em!

Not sure CDC wants to draw attention from Texas WBB team this weekend.

Maybe news on RT being let go is released Tuesday??

What kills me is that I look back at this season and think "Fuck, we wasted Tre Johnson's only year of college ball" and what is worse is that outcome shouldnt have been a shock...

Doing nothing with one and dones has become a tradition here. Nothing new.

No offense , which means I’m about to offend you, but I don’t care how much effort millionaire coaches bring to Texas. We all care about results. He was an average coach who had well above average compensation, like most failed Texas coaches. These are facts. No call for cunt shade unless that’s what you are. Properly fuck off now.

No Drake v Tech discussion? This could be the Runnin’ Horns Bowl for the coaches.

Definitely better ball movement and defense particularly for Drake because it’s obvious they’re out athleted. But probably discussed in the next coach thread. Thankful that RT is a good guy and gave us a lot of hard work but the coaching on these teams making the S16 is night and day vs what we saw in Austin this year.

Idk what it is with smaller school coaches and Texas but it’s like once they get here they don’t coach or do the same things that got them there.

Ironic talking about crayons given what's going on right now.

I get so tired of the "we pay x" meme.  They're coaches at The University of Texas at Austin, therefore there are expectations.  There is also usually a big salary.  The two are basically unrelated except for the University part.

Would this be any more acceptable if we paid him $300k/year?  $30k/year?  Nope.

Until shown otherwise, I assume our coaches, good and bad, are decent people doing the best they know how.  We (Royal version) have a tendency to call them thieves and other highly personal aspersions.  That's uncalled-for, and also, cunty.

Correct. I’d probably lean Tech coach over Drake coach.

I’d be tempted to go as splashy as possible to fill the nicest gym in CBB, but thankfully CDC is much smarter than me.

Okay but he was never supposed to be the HC here. He was forced to take over - did a good job - and the AD rolled the dice on him.

It's not like he was crushing it somewhere else then came to Texas, underperformed and acted like an asshole while doing it.

Bless your heart if you believe you can offend me.

But I do pity those near you.

No, it will be quickly drowned out by games. You make hire Monday so you have the news cycle before the Sweet 16

No - not to coach. McCasland is going back to school at Baylor in a raunchy, shenanigan-filled style scenario. Laughs will be had, a couple rules may be broken, but mainly - everyone is going to learn a little bit about themselves.

interesting to think about that if we’d been able to sign toppin that RT would almost surely still be our HC going forward.

Of course I'm still up I just finished an assortment of jalapeño poppers, cracked beverage #9 and threw U2's 1983 classic "War" on the headphones.

All I need now is for CDC to not hire that fuck Sean Miller and I'm on my way to a great spring.

That hits home because my midnight gummy just kicked, I wolfed down half a box of raisins, and I'm going with Springsteen at the Main Point Bryn Mawr PA 1975.
