And the 10% who did know, directly, that they were paying players, tell themselves that everyone was paying players so they weren't doing anything different, and the differentiator was their development and culture and ability to get kids drafted and blah fucking blah. They don't like it when you say "Well, if everyone was paying players back then, then why wasn't Texas getting any elite players? Things seem to look different now that paying players is legal, right?" Or, in other words, they're all fucking lying dipshits.

Even if you take away our 3 specialists, their average star ranking might still be higher than ours. They're lying children with no concept of reality.

What if half of it is corporate NIL for arch? Total could be accurate but the context would show that most of the players are in the same range as other top programs. or other things, such as the separation between collectives and corporate, or now school and corporate.

People barely knew Georgia had a football team after 1980 when Walker left. They truly wandered the desert for 40 years, won 2 NC's, and now they believe they're one of the greatest programs in existence. Yet, Clemson also won 2 NC's before UGA, and they somehow acknowledge they aren't some sleeping giant that finally awoke. When your NC was relevant when Reagan was president, you know you're desperate for attention. But but but we Jawja. We a powerhouse with 4 total CFP appearances and keep riding our last NC from 2022. July 17Jul 17 Popular Post You know what's nice? I don't give a shit about Georgia. If CFB was a neighborhood, OU would be the asshole from across the street that we fucking hate and have to deal with all the time. Aggies would be our embarrassing redneck cousin who our mom makes us spend time with and who constantly talks about how great his life in La Porte and our life in the big city with all the hobos and the gays must suck. Baylor, Tech, and TCU are gross people from around the block whose loud music and antics frequently interfere with our quiet enjoyment of the backyard. Arkansas is some dude we knew in high school and who we actively avoid when we see him at the grocery store. Georgia? They're some fucking weird on the bus. Somebody who is clearly not right but nonetheless tries to strike up a conversation. I don't give a shit about talking to them or wasting my energy on them because I've got my own life to live. Maybe someday they'll graduate to a program I care enough about to hate. But they're not our friends, family, or neighbors and I don't give a single shit about them other than the week we happen to play. My prediction? They will, at best, be our next Nebraska. Fuck 'em. Fuck Smart too, with his stupid fucking haircut and poindexter hat. Toss them on the pile with the rest of the CFB world that hate us because they ain't us.

July 20Jul 20 3 hours ago, Scholz said: This is why I didn’t want this conference, having to associate with the most moronic, whiniest bitches on earth. You know what they had going for them? They were willing to do all the negotiations in private and then spring it on everyone as a fait accompli. Even kept everything from A&M because they would have gummed up the works until the whole deal was basically done, then strong armed the Aggies into voting for it so it would be a unanimous vote. The Big Ten wanted a public discourse about the possibility of allowing Oklahoma and Texas into the conference, which would have given the state legislature every opportunity to torpedo it - because you know they would have. We were blessed to have Eltife - or as I like to call him, Eljefe - because he was intimately aware of how elements of the legislature would react, and navigated it perfectly. We got everything done in an off year where only the governor could call a special conference, and of course Abbott was a friend to the cause and would do no such thing. The irony is that Big Ten's insistence on having an open dialogue because it wouldn't be right to make the decisions in secret, ended up with Oklahoma and Texas going straight into the arms of the SEC - which may have happened anyway, but they made sure they weren't an option. Then when the USC/UCLA deal happened, Fox made sure it was a done deal - in secret - before the California legislature could get involved. They still did, with the Board of Regents punishing UCLA a bit for asking for forgiveness rather than permission, but the deal still got done. I'm not sure that USC/UCLA deal gets done the way it did without the shock of OU/Texas doing the deal they did with the SEC. Fox made it clear it was unacceptable for USC/UCLA to go to the SEC as well, and they made sure the deal with Big Ten, with all its warts, got signed and delivered. In any case, I hate being in the SEC because of our compatriots, but not being in the conference meant we would have fallen behind in the new world order. Basically, I hate the collective fandoms, but their single minded passion regarding college football means the SEC has a dominance regarding the future of college football the other conferences outside the Big Ten would never have. We needed to get into either the SEC or the Big Ten to maintain our relevance. The timing was crucial. As much as I hate the SEC, I am grateful we're a part of it. Who knows what the future is going to bring? Without protection from federal legislation there's going to be more and more pressure for the Big Ten and SEC to do some kind of football merger, inviting whichever programs they want to be part of the whole thing. I'm not saying it's imminent, but it's inevitable. Without being able to control payroll - and it's going to be impossible to control payroll with the current dynamics in play - there will be constant pressure to raise revenue, and to split the revenue with fewer entities. This is market systems 101. Texas would have always had a seat at the table, but the membership in the SEC means we have more say over the process than we ever would have in the Big 12. The Big 12 was compromised anyway because outside of Texas and OU it was a conference of poors - some of the programs are REALLY poor - and their agendas would have never meshed with UT. Because of the television deal, every program in the SEC has at least some funds to work with, especially when compared to the Big 12, so there's at least a little bit of a unified front, even if none of them have the overall resources Texas does. I will say I do believe federal protection is going to come some day. I just don't know when that will be or what kind of messed up form it will take. Because you know it's going to be messed up in some way. It always is.

Not disputing that Bohls is dumb, but we definitely shouldn’t overlook that he actively acted/acts in bad faith against the program. For years he took purposefully contrarian positions, relishing every opportunity to badmouth Texas, so that he could prop himself up as a legitimate “neutral” journalist that is somehow above a mere local sports reporter. His votes against the program had significant consequences for the university, and he was sadly rewarded with a long and overpaid career at the Austin Statesman despite forgettable writing and worthless, tepid analysis. I've mentioned this before, but I guess I will keep pointing it out - it's really weird how the media continues to insinuate that there is something inappropriate going on with booster driven NIL. They never fucking covered it when it was a bag game and explicitly forbidden. Someone would bring it up on a fan call-in or something of that ilk and then the talking heads would mock it as absurd or imply that is was minor and everyone did it. Now that a bunch of rich, mostly white dudes want to transfer some of their wealth, overtly, to a bunch of young, often lower middle class trending towards poor, mostly minority people, well, something sinister is happening. It's damned near a fucking constant when NIL comes up that there are bad things being done with it.
