It will take Texas three or four years to get accustomed to the brutal SEC grind. Who knows how long it will take them to compete for a conference championship. Everybody is going to be out for them; they've never experienced that before. (yea, right)

Oh fuck! They're in the middle of our shit year one and predicted to be even better year two! They're toxic. They're rude!

Well we did walk into town saying you’re welcome instead of thank you. And helped ourselves to the buffet before being invited to dig in. Which I very much enjoy and I hope they never forget.

I thought Vandy fans were supposed to be more intelligent than the average mouth breathers.

Just wait until we win a national championship or two and have the next evolution of their buffoonery  happen. Then they will be treating us like kings. And chanting sec sec and how tough this conference is.

We are doing the SEC a favor.

As human beings we think we bond together based on what we have in common. And that is true to an extent. But the most powerful bonding agent is the concept of the outsider. We are bringing the rest of the SEC together by being a common enemy. Everyone can hate us. They can give examples of how much they hate us. Why they hate us worse than the next person hates us. They can all link arms, do the horns down sign, talk about how we're entitled, overrated, have more money than God, think we're God's gift to football, and all the other "aspersions" fans of other schools love to throw at us.

To you, the rest of the SEC, my reply is, "You're welcome."

I went to high school with this guy’s son, whose name was, Bear, and who had a sister named, Crimson. I never put two and two together until their old man did that.

Is this kind of encouragement necessary or warranted? Methinks not.

I spent a lot of time in Tennessee. Vandy girls are great. Vandy dudes generally suck. Weird and annoying, but think they’re hot shit. Being the BMOC at Vandy is like being the most popular kid in band.

I assumed he was here via make-a-wish request.  Is that not the case?

They dislike us for the same reason the middle-aged office hags dislike the new, young, hot, single woman who gets hired at their office. They realize they can never be all that.

Sorry for hurting your feelings unintentionally, sport.

Original Doritos were unflavored.  SMH all around.

I ordered a migas plate at a mexican restaurant in Arkansas and they used frito chips instead of corn tortillas.

How did it taste? I'm more of an eater than a stickler on how people do things differently in other places. I'm concerned more with flavor.

Everybody loves the guy who shoves his plate away and proclaims, "That ain't how we do it in Texas."

If you ever pass through Lexington, Virginia, find a place called Beam Me Up Scottie. They serve BBQ typical of three places including Texas. I ordered the sampler and I loved every bite. I ordered a second plate. There were all, gasp!, great.

I like liking things.

They put beans in their chili too.

I like liking things too, in New England I’ll go for the clam chowder, east coast oysters and avoid the gumbo and Mexican so I can like what I eat.

Serious question - what's the point? Just to make it last longer?

I like the flavor of beans in chili and people constantly complain. The 1st time i did it was in a work chili cook off and i won. So then it became part of how i make chili.

On a side note a guy made chili for deer camp and he put cinnamon it. Cinnamon can not be snuck into chili and it DEFINITELY does not belong.

Must be from Ohio.

Guys, if you don't end the chili talk, with or without beans, a bunch of the psycho food snobs from the Food & Travel board are going to wind up manifesting here and really nauseating this thread.

Seriously. It would be a shame if this thread turned into a meandering shit show like the 2026 recruiting thread.

I was always in the camp of don't eat Tex Mex anywhere north of Dallas until I had some of the best Mexican food I had ever tasted in a strip center restaurant in Vail.  It didn't hurt that they also gave us all a shot of homemade tequila served in a goat hoof.

They realize they can never be all that.

And that they never were even at a young age.

Texas is a blue blood. Alabama was the only blue blood in the SEC until Texas and 0U joined. For the other schools it wasn't just a young pretty thing being hired for the secretary pool, it was a Miss America winner being named CEO. The jelly will only increase as the new boss continues to make money moves and expose the deadweight in the company.

Hah, so someone, named morriscat22, that allegedly attends Vandy is talking about the history of the SEC and we are all pretending they actually represent anyone's opinion in the SEC aside from their own?

Nobody in the SEC gives a shit about Vandy. They're good at baseball, and otherwise they're "snobs". Second, yeah, before Texas arrived Tennessee loved Vandy, Bama and Florida. There is nothing but warmth and sharing in Jacksonville when Florida and Georgia play. Egg Bowl is when all the MSU and Ole Miss fans share egg salad and egg salad sandwiches at a huge picnic. Nothing but love and respect in the Iron Bowl just like the Red River Shootout/Rivalry. At half time of the Magnolia Bowl LSU and Ole Miss fans exchange flowers hence the name.

What a load of shit.

As I’ve said many times, there are no hospitable fanbases in the SEC. You might have friends that invite you to their tailgate, but make no mistake they all desperately want to win, and they’re sore ass losers when they lose. Vandy beating Bama + Lea/ Barton Simmons swagger bullshit is just unfortunate. Nashville was the last outpost.

I don’t need an outpost. I don’t need a safe haven. I don’t need friendly people shaking my hand. Everyone can go fuck themselves. I’ll rent a car so I don’t get Fayettenamme’d. I’ll enjoy everything Knoxville has to offer, which is a lot, under the hateful stares of the local peasantry.

From what I recall in having attended Vol tailgates and games for 10+ years...

Georgia fans were the worst.

South Carolina fans were, by far, the best.

Vol fans are pretty cool UNLESS you mention Texas.  They are somehow absolutely obsessed with the "real UT" thing.  Which is weird, because I never, not once, thought about them until I moved to Knoxville.

Kentucky football fans - kind of cool.  KY basketball fans, not so much.

Florida fans were pretty cool if only for the fact that they drove my Vol friends crazy.  I was up there when the Gators beat TN just about every year.

I don't recall much about the MIssissippi teams.  I'll give them a pass due to Kiffin and Leach.

I'm not sure I ever met a Vandy fan.  That's Nate Bargatze's school/team, so they're cool in my book.

Arky fans were terrible.  You know it's bad when Vol fans are making fun of the "hillbillies".

Almost forgot.  Aggy did play there before they joined the SEC.  It was funny because I warned my Vol friends about them, and they didn't disappoint.  Effing idiots walking up and down The Strip, wearing those stupid ass overalls, yelling and whooping.  My friends were all, "Ok, we'll root for the Longhorns after this."

I lived in the SE for a long time and agree on all points, except I always thought Vandy fans kinda sucked. Real “ooh, sportsball” types. But they wouldn’t harass you or anything.

Also, MSU fans fucking suck. Just angry about everything. Starkville has strong Lubbock vibes in terms of people walking around with a chip on their shoulder.

I ordered queso off menu (first clue) at a Mexican place in Wyoming (well, actual first clue/root cause) and they brought me a bowl of shredded cheese.

Co sign on South Carolina. Gamecock fans are a really good hang. So are Clemson fans, actually. Good state for tailgating.

They relegate their worst rednecks to Coastal I guess

That was then. What about now that the evil empire has invaded the SEC galaxy and negative propaganda is at full throttle?

They took a peek and decided to move down a couple of urinals.
