Wasn't it Saban who told Sark to take the Texas job?

Is there an official spoken history here? I’ve heard everything from Saban’s chosen successor to Sark consulted with Saban and accepted the Texas job.

Sark left Bama in 2021. I think we can all agree Saban, at least mentally, was very far from retiring in 2021.

I think the point the goober was attempting to articulate is that sark should have left Texas and come back to succeed Saban, not that he should have stayed and waited.

of course’s that’s the kind of opinion you should be expressing two years ago right after deboer was announced, for it to have any merit. Not 14 games later when you decide that the coach isn’t the guy.

Does anybody still think Alabama is a better job than Texas with the current NIL world? Besides aggie.

OU made it clear they were going wherever Texas was going. I do not believe OU needed Texas to get into the SEC the way Baylor and Texas Tech needed Texas and Texas A&M to get into the Big 12. But they let Texas take the lead on that move.

OU's bigger long term issue is how they're going to handle NIL. Not whether the SEC is favoring Texas or not. The problem is, staying in the Big 12 wasn't really an option. The Big 12 is going to be perpetually filled with all the programs that can't get into the SEC or Big 10. I assume once the SEC/Big 10 carve up the ACC, there will be some kind of merger for the teams that weren't invited. The money will be a lot less. The ability to be a factor in the future of college football will be a lot less. They didn't really have a choice but to enter the SEC as second fiddle to Texas.

Saban told Sarkisian he wouldn't recommend the Texas job based on his clusterfuck of an experience when he thought he would replace Mack Brown. He understood the appeal. Basically told him to check his 6.

Frankly, Kalen DeBoer was a heck of a hire. He still might work out. His biggest issue right now is following Saban. But everyone knew that when he took the job, including DeBoer.

The biggest issue with Texas versus some other programs is that sometimes it doesn't make winning at football the same kind of priority other programs do. We're blessed to have Eltife as the chairman of the board of regents and Greg Abbot as the the governor (not being political - simply saying for football purposes). If we go through a number of years where someone who is anti Texas is making board of regents appointments it might get a little more dicey.

It takes time, then they hire Steve Patterson as AD, then again I don't know the full story of who was responsible for that abortion of an AD but it feels good to blame a fricking aggy.

Don't use "fricking", please. That's literally what aggies post instead of the word "fucking". If you don't want to curse, that's cool, but there's a myriad of other ways to get your point across.

Thank you for reading my TED talk

Sorry, man. It went over my head. That's on me. Didn't mean to offend you or anything.

They're just upset because the rest of the SEC doesn't just roll over and die for them like the Big 12 teams did.  They're also too stupid for the Big 10.

Well never be respected for this fact alone. Were thieves, cheaters, outcasts, just
because it says "OKLAHOMA" on the front of those jerseys

TommybOy certainly got that right. Lol

Yes correct. If the jersey says Oklahoma it means they’ve cheated for everything they’ve ever gotten.

And that guy left out wifebeaters.

He had the most ridiculous quote in a thread absolutely full of ridiculous quotes. It was impressively cringe.

1911_ feels like most of us about the SEC, I hate that I agree with a sooner. Now aggy the minute they joined the SEC they were part of the irrelevant "It just means more" crowd and could not wait to get on their knees to see what was coming through the SEC glory hole.

The Big 10 has never had an interest in OU. Ever. That shit is hilarious. You think the SEC holds its nose in its dealings with OU? Ha. The Big 10 appropriately views that institution and its base as regrettable trash.

I also enjoyed the part where, in a thread expressing angst over being called out by the league for obvious in-game cheating, one of the posters attempted to accuse the rest of the league as being cheaters while OU remains virtuous.

That truly is a fanbase of the basest metal.

So SEC refs cheat Auburn out of a conference game, and the Land Thieves (the beneficiaries) are upset.  Do I have that right?

Those motherfuckers are dumber than I thought.

Can’t spell “dumb motherfuckers” without OU.

It doesn't even say Oklahoma on the front, it says Sooners you dumb shit.

You don't even know your own fucking team.

*women beaters, and also kidnappers who should never be allowed around any tools, especially screwdrivers.

Yep, I miss T-Bob. As another poster said, the meltdowns just aren’t the same.

Moscona reminds of a football literate Looch with a filthy mouth. The poster trolling him over and over again on starting Van Buren is great.
