It’s a shitty, stupid way to build a championship roster. No team that is a championship contender hands out as many 1 year contracts as the Texans

You OF ALL PEOPLE should be a big fan Nick Caserio's thrift shopping!

The #Texans have agreed to terms with DB Mike Ford on a 2-year deal worth $4.5m total, source said.

Most likely specifically signed as an excellent ST player

He's signing a cheap deal. Do the math

An update from Texans DE Dylan Horton

Not to be insensitive, but are other teams drafting this many players that end up immediately getting diagnosed with cancer?

😂😂😂

The Texans hyping up the 2024 free agency class for years and then doing absolutely nothing

#411

Didn’t we do this shit last year?

Lots of talent still out there, and as much as I wanted Saquon I wouldn’t have gone as high as Philly did for him…

Potential Texans Targets (my opinion only)DT: Arik Armstead, DJ ReaderFS: Justin Simmons, Quandre DiggsRB: Aaron Jones, Alexander Mattison (both have zone history)LB: Azeez Al-Shaair, Willie Gay, Tyrel Dodson, Isaiah SimmonsEdge: Josh Uche, Chase Young

This is a good list. But need to actually sign some of them. 😅

Azeez Al-Shaair is expected to sign with the Texans, per source. The former Titan and 49er reunited with DeMeco Ryans.

Finally a bit of good news coming on a disappointing day. Also, Alpi, thankfully, only has a bad ankle sprain and bone bruise - no meniscus tear.

Quite a bit higher than projections

Azeez Al-Shaair is signing a 3-year, $34M deal with the Texans, per @RapSheet

There is a huge difference between those two guys.

In terms of perception or production? They seem very similar production wise.

Interesting. He was good when he was the 3rd and 4th option, but could also not stay healthy.

Brooks in the late rounds.

There are good RBs in the draft, although you don’t want to go into a season with them penciled in as your starter

I like Ray Davis

Money Mixon just got released. Sign him tonight.

The #Bengals are releasing RB Joe Mixon, sources tell me and @MikeGarafolo.Mixon is coming off his fourth 1,000-yard season. Now he becomes a free agent at age 27.

#429
#Texans three-year, $34M deal for Azeez Al-Shaair: $21.5M gtd, $11 million signing bonus, salaries $1.5M (gtd), $9M (gtd), $11M; $29,412 per game active roster bonus annual up to $500K

Nick Caserio is an average at best GM. His deficiencies are being exposed today. Big fail. Caserio is the anchor that’s holding this team back. Huge disappointment.

Former #Giants star RB Saquon Barkley is planning to sign with the #Eagles, per me and @MikeGarafolo. The former Penn St weapon lands in-state at a rival of the #Giants and stays in the NFC East. He’ll see his former team twice a year.

This is a bad day for the Texans. No way to spin it. We are fucked if we don’t sign King Henry if we are serious about improving the RB position. The Eagles are the best run organization in the NFL and they signed Saquon. We were too cheap to spend $4 more million to measure up. Horrible day.

FUCK YOU CASERIO. This one hurts bad. Our 2 best defensive players last year are now gone. Still think this GM doesn’t suck.

The #Giants are signing former #Bills and #Texans RB Devin Singletary, reuniting him with Brian Daboll and getting him as the replacement for Saquon Barkley, per multiple reports.

This is one of the most disappointing days in Houston sports history. We whiffed huge

Caserio:

Longterm deals that pay players in the top 3 or 5 at their position generally don’t age well, with exceptions like Pat Mahomes and a handful of LTs. Caserio seems like the type who will overspend to the point of paying a player 5-10% above their projected value, but tells free agents goodbye and good luck when other teams back up the Brinks truck. People want Saquan or Henry at RB for the studs they were out of college and early in their careers. There’s a better than average chance some third round rookie will have a better season than one or both of those guys. The Patriots sustained success by pairing a HOF QB with an excellent HC and mostly undervalued supporting players. Outside of KC/Mahomes, every team struggles to remain perennial contenders because their star players eat up a high % of the cap and when inevitably gets injured or starts to suck, the team has a rough season and has to retool. I don’t know who’s going to fill all these positions for Houston, but I feel like the dodged a bullet by not handing out $27M/yr to a second tier DT, or a big contract to a RB that may be cut in a year.

Also, Aaron Jones could be a nice fit considering he played in a similar offense for the last five years, probably depending on price

OK so I was unfamiliar with Danielle Hunter’s game. Apologies Mr Hunter. The consensus among so called experts is he would be an upgrade over Greenard (!?). I think people underrate Greenard, he was so badass for us in pass & run. But, let’s go get this dude.

Jones goes to the Vikings. Nick is runout of options

He's been consistently better than Greenard, but Greenard is younger and is entering his prime

What the hell is Caserio doing. This was one of the best FA RB classes in years and he has completely whiffed. Sign King Henry now. This RB draft class sucks.

There isn't a first round RB in this class, but there are ~9 good RBs who can be in rotations as rookies. Ray Davis played for a McVay guy at Kentucky, so he should be able to step in day one, for instance

Were people freaking out last year before Caserio signed Singletary for $3.75m? How did that turn out?

We were 23rd in the league in rushing. The biggest weakness we have as a team is not being to run the ball well. We lost our best rusher off a bottom 10 in the league rushing attack.

That metric was pretty good considering the offensive line injuries the team dealt with all season

NEW: After missing out on several running backs in free agency, the #Texans have turned their attention to free agent Joe Mixon, per source.https://t.co/8P4AZhWEDS

#448

Has that guy had scoops in the past? I'd be surprised if Houston signed Mixon based on his history, and that could easily be coming from the Mixon end

#449

ILB depth

#Texans are signing former #Ravens linebacker Del'Shawn Phillips to a one-year deal, per a league source. Has also played for #Falcons #Bills #Jets. has 60 career tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries Had 24 tackles, in 17 games with one start last season…
