I imagine no one of consequence sniffs the field tonight.

The first of many TD’s this season !!!!

Collin Johnson with the TD.  Hopefully he makes a roster this year, Chicago’s might be hard to crack with their WR rebuild.

I never bothered to learn about the new kickoff rules. It’s weird but I think I like it. It beats watching the ref set the ball down on the 25. Some creative coordinator is going to teach a LB or safety how to kick the ball 35 yards consistently thus having  an extra defender.

Even Case is looking good. They have one of the best QB rooms in the league.

Special teams coordinators don’t teach how to kick. They just cross their fingers on that.

The new kick off is weak. Just give them the ball at the 35 if they kick into the end zone. No reason to fundamentally change special teams.

You’re in mid season form with the terrible takes. Solid work.

I kind of like it.

and goddamn, I love DeMeco!! He’s the perfect coach for this organization and I think he is going to be here for as long as he wants to. I’m so excited for this season.

I like your takes ctj. How about some constructive criticism here instead of some dismissive smart ass comment.

Looks like it encourages returns vs touchbacks/fair catches and discourages full speed head on collisions.

Overly complex like every NFL rule, but a good outcome.

How about that?

The Texans should have been all over that deal. Maybe they are saving their bullets for Simmons.

Veteran free-agent safety Quandre Diggs reached agreement on a one year deal worth up to $5 million with the Titans, per source.

At this point they might just be keeping space available to maintain flexibility so they can address potential injury clusters

#Texans have not offered a contract to veteran free agent safety Justin Simmons, per league source. Doesn't mean can't change in future. Team evaluates all free agents. At this time, going with Jimmie Ward, Eric Murray, and rookie Calen Bullock with Jalen Pitre at nickel. @KPRC2

Derp ….

#Texans RT Tytus Howard was carted off the field today during practice…

#1421

790 this am said he walked to the tent with swelling, then they carted him off as a precaution. Cart didn’t have to come out to the field to get him so that sounds worse than it was….I hope.

Between Howard and Tunsil there’s a lot of $$ tied up in a couple of dude who seem to increasingly have injury issues. Think using that 2nd rounder on a OT last year might end up being a great decision. Hopefully they’re both good to go in the regular season, but good to have a backup plan beyond Charlie Heck…

#1428

Random note: I'm happy to admit that I was wrong for being a bit down on the Lassiter pick. Apparently he's going to be a good outside corner sooner rather than later/never

We really need the ND OT to be the future, because just can't rely on Tunsil/Howard being healthy for a full season.

They really haven’t been as injury prone as I thought. Each have had one season where a majority of games were missed. Other than that, they have only missed a couple of games per season due to injury.

Several #Texans not slated to play against #Steelers Tytus Howard (minor knee injury), Laremy Tunsil (offseason knee scope), Kamari Lassiter (ankle), Will Anderson Jr. (ankle), Tim Settle Jr. (calf), Desmond King (groin), Christian Harris (calf), Charlie Heck (plantar fasciitis),…

We get a good look at Fisher tonight, along with Green's first full healthy offseason in a long time

#Texans first-team offensive line tonight expected against #Steelers LT Blake Fisher, LG Kenyon Green, C Juice Scruggs, RG Shaq Mason, RT Nick Broeker @KPRC2

#1432

Green and Scruggs both played against the Bears, they looked pretty good as we were moving the ball up and down the field early before all the backups started getting playing time.

#1436

I think Dameon Pierce is done. Akers and the rookie Jawahr Jordan looked a lot better than him. His not reading his blocks or hitting the hole with speed and determination.

#1438

Hunter looked awesome

Diggs is in over Dell on 12 personnel

Pitre playing nickel allows the run defense to be more solid when they're sitting back in two safety shell, and also allows him to blitz (his best skill) with less of a telegraph than when he was playing safety. You don't want him covering someone on a slot fade, but they'll probably have him passing off deep routes

Texans vs Packers Super Bowl, imo

He's a good power scheme runner, and a terrible zone runner. If Mixon is healthy, they should trade Pierce

LEGENDARY: #Texans QB CJ Stroud and the boys on stage with country star Luke Combs.WHILE HOUSTON OWNER CAL MCNAIR WAS SHOTGUNNING A BEER 💀💀💀(🎥@DDelgattoNFL)

#1442

It's pretty wild seeing the Texans being...competent. Stroud looks like an incredible QB, and Nico Collins is a solid WR. He's got the weapons.

I'm curious what Cam Akers looks like, but regardless, they need to draft a RB.

Hello, Jaydon Blue!! (Kidding...sort of).

#1443
Just finished watching all of Kenyon Green's snaps from the Steelers game and was very happy with it. Good pad level, did a nice job of finding his landmarks in run game and was more patient and lighter on his feet in pass protection. By the way... PIT OLB Nate Herbig has some…

#1444

Fucking legend !!!!

Here is the backstory on why Cal shotgun a beer on stage. Salute to that man 🫡 https://t.co/ysNVTz5vyg

the rebranding of cal McNair by his wife should  be studied in business schools

Jalen Pitre is a lunatic

#1447
Goddamn…I’d rather hang with Cal any day over JJ.
Have found out he is much smarter than what general public has given him credit for over the years.

They found a position he can excel in. Playing him in the box is a better fit for his skill set, it's also a skill set you don't overpay for, so when if blows up and wants money, you let him walk.

#1450

He played pretty well at times for Houston last year

Dolphins are releasing veteran defensive tackle Teair Tart.
