Just finished watching game tape of Texans (just offense) and some thoughts:* Stroud was laser sharp* Slowik has clearly put an emphasis on more aggressive run blocking for WRs* I love D Pierce but he may struggle to make the team w/ Several RBs having better one-cut feel.*…

Any trade value at all for Pierce? Maybe like a 6th or a 7th?

CJ Stroud finds Diggs for a 50-yard TD on 1st play of team vs Rams.

Kris Boyd carted to the locker room with a leg injury. I’m not sure if he was slated to make the 53 but still a shame. 🤘

#1507

I think Case's injury costs him his spot on the 53. It might be time for him to move into coaching. Would love to get him into the Texans coaching pipeline to take over Jerrod Johnson and Bobby Slowik when they move on for promotions. Same with Rod Wright.

A Texans thought from today’s preseason game: hoo boy they are *stacked* at both receiver and RB. Gotta think teams are eyeing their depth for potential cuts.

I think Woods will get traded. His spot in the pecking order certainly didn’t warrant sitting him yesterday. Idk about Pierce though. For some reason they seem to like him. He’ll probably make the 53.

The best position in the NFL is the backup QB.

Truth, just study and be ready.  Chase Daniel made $40M doing that.

Sources: Multiple teams have reached out to the #Texans to see if WR John Metchie III would be available in trade due to the plethora of receivers on their roster. It’s unclear if Houston would move him, but several team are keeping a close eye. The former 2nd-round pick out of…

Sting about to be the best lockdown corner in the league and then get paid a bajillion dollars.

Seems likely

Brown vs Woods vs Hutchinson vs Skononick seems like the bigger battle. I'd think Brown makes it, do they take a 6th?

That punt return fumble last week didn’t help his cause.

The only way Metchie doesn’t make the team is if they get some ridiculous trade offer. Reportedly there had been several teams asking about him.

#Texans have released veteran wide receiver Noah Brown, according to league sources @KPRC2 @AriA1exander
This is an exciting development that Housto may understand just how strong they project in 11 and 12-personnel looks? No need to overthink it with heavy fullback usage again in 2024 #HTownMade https://t.co/19qQ0tX7Nf

I guess they are going roster 3 QBs. I think they like keeping Case around for mentoring as much as anything

The Texans placed QB Case Keenum on IR, per source. He'll miss 3-4 months.

Hah yeah you could see that coming. They want him to be around CJ and Mills as a defacto assistant QB coach; this allows without burning a roster spot unnecessarily. I think there’s enough confidence in Mills’ development to roll with him as backup.

Sounds like Hutchinson is going to make it; I like his YAC/WR reverse ability, so glad to see that. This might also mean Woods sticks; surprising keeping him over Brown but I’m onboard. Quick math looks like the cuts announced so far drop about $5.5MM from the cap number, though some of that will go to guys who aren’t in the top 53 right now….

Trade value for Metchie and Pierce?

It sucks about Beck, but if he’s too hurt to participate in the preseason you have to move on. Best of luck to him. He’ll always have the kick return.

At least Kris Boyd made the team. Was worried after he got hurt on Saturday.

More excited about the Texans’ upcoming season than the Cowboys. And I’m a life-long Cowboys fan. JJ has finally made me not really care, even though I bought MFng tickets to the 9/15 game with the Saints!

My Son was born in LA and grew up a Saints fan because of Brees. His B-Day is this Saturday, so that’s it! He scoffed at our hotel arrangements the previous night in Cleburne, as we’re driving up the night before from SA (up 281). Why not around/ near the stadium Dad? It’s because it’s $300+ to sleep and get ready! Cleburne head start is better than SA for a noon KO Mfer!

I will give you a 6 pack and a bag of chips for Pearce.

I don’t get it. I know the new blocking scheme isn’t conducive for him as a back, but just looks like he sucks. If someone offers them anything, they should take it.

Welcome to the club! I’ve gone from a lifelong Cowboys and Oilers/Texans fan to an only Texans fan. I despise JJ and will actually begin cheering against the Cowboys as I find them uninteresting and uninspiring.

On the other hand, the Texans are just fun now. I love CJ and DeMeco. Despite being a little goofy, I genuinely like Cal more than I could ever like JJ. He seems to have finally gotten it. And then there is Hannah. She’s a breath of fresh air and exactly what Cal needed to transition to this new era!  This team has the feel of the early 90’s Cowboys in that they could be a year or two ahead of schedule as far as doing big things! I can’t wait to see what happens.

Sims and Pierce both made the team due to their abilities on STs. Pierce is a really good KR and averaged 32.1 last year including a TD. With the new kickoff rules, it might be worth it to keep him to handle KRs. Sims scored the only TD the Texans had in their playoff loss to Baltimore on a PR.

Mfr had to Google/MapQuest etc where Cleburne was located? Kids today don’t know paper maps, or where they’re currently located versus where they need to go. They just type in directions to a location and hit Go!

I can’t tell either of my kids to head: NSEW for anything, as they look dumbfounded.

The 610 guys think British Brooks made the team as a de facto fullback. They expect Jordan to play a lot at H-back, thus the team felt comfortable cutting Beck.

Awesome news for Boyd.

This is the first time I've ever gone into a season thinking they have even a small chance of winning the Super Bowl

I think the Chiefs are still the clear favorite in the AFC, but Houston is in the next tier
