It’s a shitty, stupid way to build a championship roster. No team that is a championship contender hands out as many 1 year contracts as the Texans

You OF ALL PEOPLE should be a big fan Nick Caserio's thrift shopping!

Most likely specifically signed as an excellent ST player

He’s played in 28 games and been in 1,400 plays since the Achilles injury.

At what level? Did he lose speed? Agility?

He's signing a cheap deal. Do the math

Not to be insensitive, but are other teams drafting this many players that end up immediately getting diagnosed with cancer?

Didn’t we do this shit last year?

Lots of talent still out there, and as much as I wanted Saquon I wouldn’t have gone as high as Philly did for him…

I was thinking about Diggs too.

Finally a bit of good news coming on a disappointing day. Also, Alpi, thankfully, only has a bad ankle sprain and bone bruise - no meniscus tear.

Edge: Josh Uche, Chase Young

There is a huge difference between those two guys.

In terms of perception or production? They seem very similar production wise.

One of Demeco's guys. LFG.

Interesting. He was good when he was the 3rd and 4th option, but could also not stay healthy.

Well, if we're not gonna have a running back, I guess having a good punter is a good idea.

Brooks in the late rounds.

No offense to J Brooks, but it’s a very poor RB draft. They should address the position in free agency and hope for the best in April.

There are good RBs in the draft, although you don’t want to go into a season with them penciled in as your starter

I like Ray Davis

Nick Caserio is an average at best GM. His deficiencies are being exposed today. Big fail. Caserio is the anchor that’s holding this team back. Huge disappointment.

This is a bad day for the Texans. No way to spin it. We are fucked if we don’t sign King Henry if we are serious about improving the RB position. The Eagles are the best run organization in the NFL and they signed Saquon. We were too cheap to spend $4 more million to measure up. Horrible day.

FUCK YOU CASERIO. This one hurts bad. Our 2 best defensive players last year are now gone. Still think this GM doesn’t suck.

This is one of the most disappointing days in Houston sports history. We whiffed huge

We lost our punter too.

Longterm deals that pay players in the top 3 or 5 at their position generally don’t age well, with exceptions like Pat Mahomes and a handful of LTs. Caserio seems like the type who will overspend to the point of paying a player 5-10% above their projected value, but tells free agents goodbye and good luck when other teams back up the Brinks truck. People want Saquan or Henry at RB for the studs they were out of college and early in their careers. There’s a better than average chance some third round rookie will have a better season than one or both of those guys. The Patriots sustained success by pairing a HOF QB with an excellent HC and mostly undervalued supporting players. Outside of KC/Mahomes, every team struggles to remain perennial contenders because their star players eat up a high % of the cap and when inevitably gets injured or starts to suck, the team has a rough season and has to retool. I don’t know who’s going to fill all these positions for Houston, but I feel like the dodged a bullet by not handing out $27M/yr to a second tier DT, or a big contract to a RB that may be cut in a year.

By the way, Arik Armstead hasn't been released yet

Also, Aaron Jones could be a nice fit considering he played in a similar offense for the last five years, probably depending on price

Of course he wants the woman beating sooner.

That happened 10 years ago when he was a 17 year old.

OK so I was unfamiliar with Danielle Hunter’s game. Apologies Mr Hunter. The consensus among so called experts is he would be an upgrade over Greenard (!?). I think people underrate Greenard, he was so badass for us in pass & run. But, let’s go get this dude.

Jones goes to the Vikings. Nick is runout of options

He's been consistently better than Greenard, but Greenard is younger and is entering his prime

There's always options at running back in the banana stand

What the hell is Caserio doing. This was one of the best FA RB classes in years and he has completely whiffed. Sign King Henry now. This RB draft class sucks.

Edited by Macklemore

There isn't a first round RB in this class, but there are ~9 good RBs who can be in rotations as rookies. Ray Davis played for a McVay guy at Kentucky, so he should be able to step in day one, for instance

Were people freaking out last year before Caserio signed Singletary for $3.75m? How did that turn out?

We were 23rd in the league in rushing. The biggest weakness we have as a team is not being to run the ball well. We lost our best rusher off a bottom 10 in the league rushing attack.

That metric was pretty good considering the offensive line injuries the team dealt with all season

Has that guy had scoops in the past? I'd be surprised if Houston signed Mixon based on his history, and that could easily be coming from the Mixon end

ILB depth

Maybe Houston knows that Dameon Pierce roided up all offseason and is about to murder some people next season?
