January 22, 20241 yr Haven't really payed attention, but noticed in that article about the Alien: Romulus movie that's coming out later this year is taking place between the first two films.

August 12Aug 12 Episodes 1 & 2 tonight. Most reviews have been very positive - 94% on Rotten Tomatoes. https://www.rottentomatoes.com/tv/alien_earth/s01
August 12Aug 12 Just went to hit record on DTV stream and got the option to watch them already, on demand. Interesting
August 13Aug 13 The flow is a little weird and the commercials are entirely too much. Like it’s a lot. This may be a next day on Hulu watch for me to avoid them
August 13Aug 13 I enjoyed the first two episodes. Big vibes from the original movie in that opening scene. Glad Hawley kept that detail in there since this takes place two years before Alien.
August 13Aug 13 the writers were a little all over the place but alot of alien action can cover up plenty. Speaking of, this xeno is a nasty fucker with bad intentions.

Disagree, it was the human characters that made Alien/Aliens so great. So far this doesn’t have that. I found the opening scene really derivative and off-putting. That is sacred material to me it shouldn’t be used just for member berries. It was always going to be very hard for this to live up to expectations for me. We’ll see how it goes from here.

I'm weirdly into the corporate rivalry between Prodigy and WY. I hope we see more of that Once the rest of the Lost Kids grow up, I think the human(ish) part will be better (I hope). They're still too childlike, which has its moments, but is also off-putting when they're supposed to be badass, emotionless tools. Except for Smee, his reactions when they walked into the lab was hilarious. "Gross!" They did a good job with the weird alien species besides the Xeno. The bloodsuckers, the eyeball, etc. I hope we see some backstory of the original crew collecting the samples and how the outbreak first happened.

But I’m guessing the rest will be next day on Hulu/Disney like all the other FX shows. The TV commercials, for me, make this almost unwatchable when it airs live. It was pretty bad the amount of commercial breaks
August 13Aug 13 Loved it! I look forward to more hijinks from the eyesquid. Reminded me of The Thing when it emerged from the cat's face. The alien slaughtering everyone in a matter of seconds made me laugh. The only way to fight them is through controlled containment. As far as commercials Im subscribed to the disney+ package and dont have to deal with that bullshit.

Was really off-putting and detracted from my enjoyment. Edited August 13Aug 13 by Message Board User
August 13Aug 13 Dig it so far. Plenty of familiar elements packed in, but some new territory being covered. Production quality is excellent.

Swear I could hear the scanner beeping sound effect in the lab.
August 14Aug 14 Is this a limited series or maybe multi-season? Spoiler So the cyborg did what he did on orders to take out the boy genius, including clipping that satellite thing on the way in so they wouldn't know the ship was coming, right? Otherwise seemed odd that with all of that tech, they couldn't clock a massive spaceship heading toward a city center. He also seemed surprised when he asked the soldier where Boy Kavalier was -- like he expected him in that tower. Is this show all about how Weyland-Yutani takes out all of the other gigacorps?
August 17Aug 17 This show fucks! They have children without children actors that has a lot of ways it can go, terrible to cool. The different types of humans, corporate battles and all around skull fuckery with legit gore and hard action makes this a show for me. Love it!

I didn't put it in my last post but the variety of creepy monster potential beyond Alien is extremely promising.

The non-Xenomorph stuff had the feel of that 2023 Gareth Edwards movie "The Creator". Southeast Asia, cyborg/synth/android technology, conflicting factions, and visually similar. I enjoyed that movie's world building, acting, and use of cinematography/special effects, but was frustrated by the overall story. I hope Alien Earth keeps the narrative, cinematography and effects quality up, I have high expectations based off the first two episodes. Last week was a really fun 2 episode watch.
August 19Aug 19 Solid 2 episode introduction.I like the whole synth, cyborg, hybrid arms race between WT and ProdigyIt still drives my wife and I crazy though that in the Aliens future scientific exploration still involves sticking their faces 2 inches from unknown flora/fauna…. Like I don’t even put my face that close when I’m unboxing a birthday cake but these dudes will travel 1000 light years away, find the atmosphere breathable and remove safety gear and stuff their faces right into foreign living creatures personal space… [emoji1787]

August 20Aug 20 I've stuck my nose in some questionable places and lived to tell the story.Arcturian poontang?
August 20Aug 20 A couple nit picks, but still liking it a lot after episode 3. Blade Runner came to my mind a few times. The corporate espionage angle with Morrow is probably the strongest element of the show so far. A bit confused/intrigued about the connection Wendy was having there at the end, seemingly with the face hugger or its embryo? And I know they were supposed to be coming off as immature, but that scene between Slightly and the other hybrid (“BRO!!”) was pretty rough. The needle drops continue to be excellent.

August 20Aug 20 what's with the random fucks in suits spraying the walls ??Yeah the wife and I keep making guesses… is there an engineer head in there or something…

I think we’re going to find out that the xenomorphs have some auditory way of communicating that she’s able to hear. Just don’t ask me why her and not the other synths.

I hope they to back to that and don’t cheap out on us never seeing her fight the Xeno She started leaking from her head, so perhaps something got into her brain
August 20Aug 20 She could hear the alien chittering prior to her getting trapped in there though, if I’m not mistaken. Pretty sure she was hearing stuff others weren’t in episode 2. I think there is a reveal coming that connects her ability to hear/feel the xenomorphs/facehuggers/zygotes with the statements in the first episode about her being first because she is “special”. Great show so far, in my opinion, and I’ll be eagerly awaiting each episode. Only real eyeroll stuff so far has been the kid dialogue with some of the Lost Boys. The flaws have been outweighed by all the good stuff.

Bro bro bro Dude Bro Slightly and Smee are annoyingly childish boys. Curly is super insecure and cunning. We’ve barely seen Toodles do anything.
