My Michigan anecdote for this election is that when I was in Ann Arbor both before the game and after the game Michigan frat bros (different one each time) yelled at me that Trump sucks and Michigan is for Harris. I realize that's just because my clothes indicated I'm from Texas but if frat bros are willing to yell that then this thing is in the bag for Harris. Ha.

My anecdote. I mentioned earlier I tried to early vote in Oakland County on Tuesday but the line was way too long and I didn't have the time to wait and just planned on going Tuesday. Wife tried to early vote yesterday afternoon and the line was even longer so she decided to go back this morning a half hour before the polls opened. To her, that meant leaving the house 45 minutes after the polls opened but I digress. She texted me that she found her way into the satellite city clerk office and they asked her if she wanted to absentee. Hell yeah. No wait. She filled it out and dropped it in the box (can track it online). Half hour later I did the same. So voted. Oh and a while I was walking in a guy told me the line to vote was over 2 hours.

All good signs. It's pretty blue here and there is a lot of enthusiasm.

Had a friend make an insightful comment this weekend.  I don’t know if Harris is going to win convincingly, but if she does it will align with his comment:

”The United States and its people are always slower to move than they should be, but they end up doing the right thing.  They ended slavery far later than they should have.  But they did it, eventually.  They entered both world wars later than they should have, but they did it, eventually.  Trumpism should have been snuffed out in its infancy.  It wasn’t, but it will be, eventually.”

We winning this shit in a landslide. Only thing missing is a CTJ mud hole post.

I was thinking that if Harris wins and I go to Chili's then I was going to take down an El Niño margarita or three. But then I realized I won't be able to pass up the opportunity to order a different kind and emphasize when I order a "LA Presidente margarita" even if the official name of the drink lacks the gender article.

Oh I want to add to this because I'm proud on a couple of fronts. My sister was on the ground canvassing in Northville today. Not really her style but she felt it was important enough. Also she took my HS Senior nephews to see Obama in Detroit, and they voted for the first time afterwards. And the one who is a total bro bro who could be influenced by friends voted straight ticket D.

Seriously, on the France stuff, if you want to learn French just move to a medium-sized city and go out and drink a lot. It's possible to learn it in Paris but it's harder because there are so many people from all over in Paris, you could spend a year there speaking English or Spanish or whatever.

Medium-sized French city will still have more culture and history than most of America, and housing costs are about half of Germany or the UK. Trains/buses are the best imho.

It's about inconvenience. As mentioned earlier, it takes me an hour just to go cross town. To go to the closes Chili's from my house (working remotely that day) will be a minimum of 1.5 hours each way.

Alsace. Yeah, it's white wine but since y'all don't drink, no harm.

Plus, lots of country folk in Alsace (no muthuhfuckuhs I'm not talkin about Strasbourg and your fancy friends there who speak great French I'm talkin country folk) speak Alsatian (think: Cajun German) as their first language, so their French is slower and choppier, exactly like an Anglophone American learning French.
