Oh there's plenty of room for both. Also "rapist", "fraud", "conman", and "insurrectionist", if they get bored with criminal and weird. I'd be fine with a steady rotation of all of them.

You're weird, shit for brains.

Not directed at you but...
  • Equal rights
  • Fair pay and worker conditions
  • Economic security
  • Healthcare affordability
  • Improved education
  • Decreased gun violence
  • Improved environmental quality
  • Improved civic involvement
Only in America is that a liberal left agenda.
In every other civilized country, those are the goals for everyone.  It's the details on how to achieve it where the differences are found.  What a fucking country.

I’m not arguing it’s right or wrong. I’m just arguing that it’s a fact there are a bunch of people that believe that way (probably due to years of Fox brainwashing) and they could really help her win.

The opening is there because of Trump and all his bs and she should figure out a way to get their vote. Pounding the same message probably doesn’t win them very easily.

Personally IDGAF who’s right. I just want the orange cunt to stay out of the White House. So I hope she is smart about how she plays the game.

Not a fan of preaching politics from the pulpit. We criticize it when guys like Jeffress and Young do it so we should hold the other side to the same standard. Keep politics out of religion and keep religion out of politics.

Kind of feel the same but I also see @Pancho‘s perspective below as well.

I mean, I agree, but the right has been campaigning from the pulpit for 50 fucking years without repercussion, so why the fuck not do it for the other side too? Otherwise, you're just ceding an entire avenue of outreach to only one side.

Well we all know God loves America way more than other countries. Mostly because of Maga and Donald Trump.

This is an excellent post.  Yeah, some folks below disagree with you.  And sure, it's about MESSAGING, not reality (Fox news and Rush and all that shit broke a lotta people's brains).  But you know that I am with you on the "the individual is god, the common good is the enemy" ethos being a poison that we've ingested a ton of these past 30 years or so.

My hypothesis is that, as you see things going to shit for you (as they have for the rurals), you naturally begin to think "fuck it, I'll handle everything myself, I'm the only person I can rely on to help me."  I buy that, because I've felt that way at times in my own life.  It's human nature.  So, it's you against the world.  And fuck the world.

The counter-message to that ethos is "man...that sucks.  But we're all in this together.  We HAVE to all be in this together.  What if we worked -- together -- to build something that helped all of us?  You, me, your neighbors?"  Offer that POSITIVE counter-narrative....and KEEP offering it.  It's going to take DECADES to de-program people.  So, let's get to work on that.  Shit like "I'm not running for president of blue states, or red states.  I'm running for president of these UNITED states.  All of us.  Working together for the common purposes that have made this country great, and can make it even better."

I’m not convinced they’ve ever come to the conclusion that they can only rely on themselves. They got told that their steel mills and manufacturing got shipped overseas by big city globalist democrats. They got told that the environmentalists are shutting down the coal mines. They got told that it was Obama’s fault that the post recession recovery skipped their communities. They got told that Biden was going to shut down fracking and turn off their gas wells. They got told that the Muslims were coming to destroy their way of life. They got told that millions of brown people are streaming across the border to come take what little they have.

They’ve been eating nothing but lies for decades and have absolutely no connection to reality. No ability to connect with what’s really happening. Because they actively seek out an echo chamber that is happy to feed them the lies that they desperately want to hear.

They are told that the shining city on the hill is being torn down by everything different than rural white Christians. They are told that there’s no possible way that the party that represents minorities or gays or trans or cities could possibly be good for them.

And in what is probably the greatest con of all time, Donald fucking Trump convinced them that he was the only one that could save them. By speaking in simple words and making fun of all of the things that they weren’t, they bought it. They swallowed it hook, line, and sinker.

He perfectly fed them the lie that they wanted to hear. That the cause of their situation was a grand conspiracy against them and only he could set things right. A brilliant, white, man of god was going to lead the charge to bring back a time where Christian whites were superior to everyone else, men worked, women cooked and everyone else knew their place.

They aren’t looking for bootstraps to pull themselves up by. They are looking for a party that will knock down anyone different than them so that they can climb over them.

I'm pretty sure all sides having been doing it forever.  "Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death" was delivered at a church.  Martin Luther King, Jr. was a pastor and churches were frequently used for meetings.  I remember nuns getting arrested for anti-nuke protests when I was a kid.

I don't feel any great need to dictate that church leaders need to steer clear of politics.  They are people, and theoretically have values and goals that overlap with politics. But, yeah, they should pay taxes.

And after all the time and effort pretending to investigate Joe and convicting Hunter for tax problems, the pivot is to "women without children are psychopaths and can't be leaders and all minorities in high positions are DEI."

So one way to challenge Trumpers peacefully is to ask them to clearly articulate the “radical far left agenda” they are so afraid of and how exactly the democrats have shown any real policy success in achieving that agenda.  Or how do they imagine the democrats would go about achieving it when they can’t even get $15 minimum wage to pass with a majority in both houses and the presidency?

Then try to thoughtfully articulate the far right agenda and point to all the success they’ve had in the recent past… stripping women’s rights and major tax cuts for the ultra wealthy at the expense of the middle class and the deficit.  Those are their two MAJOR victories over the past 10 years.

I know this is a lost cause but focusing on the policy stuff gets you in more thought provoking conversations than Trump bad vs Dems more or less bad.

Nah, I'm just going to keep calling them weird.  It's working unlike all that other bullshit.

Perhaps, Rick said, whether Vance actually had carnal knowledge of one or more couches is immaterial. Rick suggested Vance making love to a couch may best be viewed as what Werner Herzog has described as the "ecstatic truth" — in Herzog's words, "a kind of truth that is the enemy of the merely factual," encompassing falsehoods that "make some essence of the man visible."

As for his decision to include a fake citation in a post about a man having sex with a couch, Rick claims highbrow inspiration. "Not to egghead it up," he said, but he was an English major "and I do have certain literary tastes." Listing page numbers was "in the vein of" authors Jorge Luis Borges and John Fowles, who used excerpts and citations, real and invented, to lend an air of authenticity to their fiction. "It's something I've found funny my entire life," he said.

Legend.
