RE:  the Musk gaming livestreaming chats stuff posted upstream:

Even after turning himself into a laughing stock in the gaming world for blatantly cheating, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk hasn't given up the hobby just yet.

During a Saturday livestream of himself playing the free-to-play action RPG Path of Exile 2 (PoE 2) — which allegedly served as an "airborne continuity test" of SpaceX's Starlink on board his private jet — Musk was ruthlessly bullied by other players in the game's chat, as spotted by Polygon.

Quote

After repeatedly dying to the game's first boss, Musk rage quit roughly 30 minutes into the stream.

Gamers reportedly accused the billionaire of having "NO FRIENDS" and charge that he "WILL DIE ALONE," while also looking "DUMB AND UGLY." Touché!

One player said that his estranged daughter Vivian Wilson "was right" for having recently claimed that Musk was terrible at "Overwatch."

Quote

Musk's personal path of exile from the gaming community kicked off earlier this year when gamers started to catch on that the richest man in the world was secretly paying talented PoE 2 gamers to build up highly-leveled characters that made it look like he was proficient at the RPG — a bizarre scheme Musk later admitted to.

Spoiler

Considering the latest commentary, little love has been lost since then — especially now that anti-Musk sentiment has risen to all-time high levels. Gamers, after all, aren't immune to his abhorrent behavior and indiscriminate dismantling of the US government with the help of his so-called Department of Government Efficiency.

Musk appeared rattled during Saturday's stream, saying little in response to the barrage of mockery. He did, however, use a disgusting slur against the intellectually disabled to take a stab at his haters, a term he has seemingly grown fond of.

"There's a lot of r*tards in the chat," he said at one point.

Despite several users encouraging the CEO to activate the game's "Do Not Disturb" command or hide the chat, Musk allowed the bullying to continue. It remains unclear whether he knows how to use either of those functions.

And his gaming chops on the whole? They left plenty to be desired.

"Elon Musk just rage quit his Twitter stream after repeatedly dying to a tutorial boss in the new PoE2 patch on hardcore," one X-formerly-Twitter user wrote.

The schadenfreude among PoE 2's established player base was very real.

"Based on his current gameplay, there's no possible way he's getting out of Act One," said New Zealand game streamer who goes by Quin69TV during a response video, referring to the opening section of the game's storyline.

Quin69TV had already raked Musk over the coals, calling him out as a fraud earlier this year.

Somebody fix my memory:  didn't Tesla originally market an open-wheel roadster?  Not the couple called the "Roadster" but more like a small F1 car?

That's the most 12 year-old thing he's done yet, and he's done a lot of them, like designing a truck.

Actually, I shouldn't say that, as even 12 year-olds have some pride and wouldn't rage quit like that. Most would figure out what they were doing wrong and course-correct.

Within a year of Musk taking Twitter private, Fidelity Investments, which invested in Musk’s Twitter acquisition, revalued its investment as being down 65% from its purchase price.

Quote

A year later, in October 2024, Fidelity valued Twitter, X by now, at just $10 billion.

That’s not surprising since Musk had Twitter take on $12 billion in debt as part of the take-private deal, and revenue fell by roughly half under his leadership.

Quote

By the end of 2024, those people were basically writing down 80% of their investment in Twitter, as per Fidelity.

However, a few months later, in March 2025, X was somehow valued back at $44 billion

Quote

many were skeptical that the valuation could have gone from $10 billion to $44 billion in just 5 months.

Quote

It’s worth noting that xAI had raised only $12 billion at a $40 billion valuation with virtually no revenue as of December 2024, and now it’s a $125 billion company, based entirely on Musk’s valuation, with $12 billion in debt.

I don’t think so, I know the roadster was based on a heavily modified Lotus Elise gliding chassis. Lotus produced them for Tesla. Tesla focused heavily on the powertrain and battery for that run and as a proof of the concept.  I don’t think Tesla wanted to get into that part of the tech too heavily till they proved the market for a “sexy” and upmarket EV.

I'm currently reading Breaking Twitter. It's kind of like a short oral history of Twitter around the time when Elon buys it. It starts 2 years prior and I'm assuming its maybe the 6 months after. Musk bought it the end of Oct 2022 and the book came out in Nov 2023. It's a fun and silly read, it really shows the sausage making of how Elon fucked things up. Dude is an idiot.

The TL;DR the TL;DR: It's a grift.

The TL;DR - this is Elmo gaming the market. He's diluting XAi and X stock to give them "value", but no money is being made or even changing hands. Let's not forget that neither X nor XAi are publicaly traded companies, so this is immaginary paper value. Ed Elson covered this last week on his show and sums it up well (cued up).

So, I have figured out why Trump has had some success as a real estate developer: it's all hucksterism, at which Trump is satanically gifted.  His general business acumen, though, is obviously lacking.

Anyone have a "uniform field theory" as to why Musk has experienced the success that he's had?

He is no different than any other tech bro of the last 30 years. They were lucky, they got rich and they confuse their luck with skill.

And he is of the same vein as Trump in his hucksterism.

First let's look at the luck. He came up with a few ideas in the 90s, which culminated with X.com. Like most of us, you probably never heard of it (I only barely knew about the 90s version), and they were in the right place and right time and were bough up by PayPal and made a boat load of money. But he did shitty there and was forced out. But still rich.

Then he invested in Tesla. And he did OK. But they nearly went bankrupt in 2008, except for a government bailout and around 2018 when the model 3 nearly broke them, but using regulatory credits was able to get them back on track.

But this is where the hucksterism comes in. In exchange for taking no salary around that time, Musk was gifted that massive stock package for meeting stock metrics. And from that time on, he started to become a weaver of the future of Tesla. Most of which hasn't been achieved. Full Self Driving. Battery Swap out Stations, Humanoid Robots, RoboTaxis, etc.

They make a great story, and people lap it up, like their stock and his net worth goes up. But it's all vaporware.

I will give him one piece of credit, at at least prior to 2018. He either had a good eye for top level management or had the right person working under him that did, because he assembled some good teams because he had management in place that could do that. IE SpaceX - this is really the work of Gwynne Shotwell. She is THE reason they is successful, not Elon. Tesla did something right back with the Models S and X. But that management team has also left.

But he's not all rainbows and lollypops. Remember SunCity? The Boring Company? Zip2? Hell even Tesla right now is stagnating and SpaceX is struggling to take their next step.

It's easy to sell stuff/raise money when you just fucking lie about it.

Elon Musk has overpromised and underdelivered throughout his entire career and he's always been in a position to capitalize based on hype - his early money came in the form of acquisitions when he was barely involved as anything other than a hype man (in paypal's case he was just the largest shareholder during acquisition as he was fired by the board for being a moron).

Tesla he bought into and latched onto the "future" of EV, stock trades at an insane multiple and he funded it using clever tactics with government funding and public stock fundraising. Tesla was (and still may be) unprofitable to the point of insolvency without government subsidies, grants and assistance.

SpaceX is more of the same, everything after that is just late stage the same thing.

A compliant tech press that until recently thought their jobs were more PR than journalism and happened to be looking to anoint the next Genius after Jobs died probably isn't THE explanation for Elon, but it's certainly part of the explanation.

Remember all the cyber trucks that got recalled due to trim over the doors coming off?

Literally everything he's created that's the case. He's the money, the founders are technical experts. They create things, then Musk gets envious they get credit for creating things, then Musk pushes or buys them out, then Musk gets credit for inventing it and gets named as the inventor or founder.

It's happened everywhere, including with Space X, but Gwynne Shotwell was hire number 11 so not a founder and she's really fucking good at what she does. Eventually she will get pushed out too whenever he has to leave TSLA.

Elon Musk rage quit a livestream of the video game Path of Exile 2 on Saturday night after repeatedly dying while also being ruthlessly cyberbullied in the chat.

Path of Exile 2 is one of Musk’s favorite games—so much so that he once claimed to be one of the world’s top players in an attempt to boost his gamer cred, before later backtracking and admitting that he had been secretly paying people to level up his account to make him appear more talented at it than he was.

I completely and totally reject a “cyberbullying” characterization here, Elon has chosen to become the most prominent and obnoxious internet troll and to inject himself into the culture wars in the most polarizing way possible. This was just the little guy getting a shot in when he could.

She's the best in the business at what she does, probably the only person alive Elon can't fire. There are many factors going into why Starship is a failure.
