But his lack of understanding of exactly how human history is written is woefully sad. At this point I’m convinced he bought Twitter so he could just revel in how dumb he really is and showed it off.

He brought it so he could find more baby mommas.

Kinda curious about the missing information from the entire corpus of human knowledge that Elon has. Is it really missing then? I guess its like the Elron corollary to Schroedinger’s cat in that its unknown until Elron voices it.

Elon is really mad at Grok because of Catturd2 and typing that sentence makes me want to go back in time to make sure the Sea People defeat the Pharaoh so we can avoid this.

That assumes that AI ends up being a major profit vehicle. It could just be too foundational a product that the benefits are reaped by society and while some businesses make some money, the bulk go by the wayside.

Think Airlines - Where are Continental, Pan Am, NWA, Eastern, etc

Think Computers - Where are Gateway, Compaq (ok, HP, but still), etc?

There are many others.

Good listen presenting this thesis - https://www.profgalloway.com/a-new-ai-world/

Is it right? Maybe, maybe not, but when all of the AI companies can do just about the same things, there might not be a winner but the people.

My injecting his own intelligence into Grok, I only see it becoming more artificial.

Also, I love how he complains about the AI believing the sources he has had it trained on.

My favorite thing is that LLMs don't "believe" anything - they're simply predicting the next most likely word (token really, but I digress) to follow the current one. It's simply a matter of the models outputting fragments of knowledge that were encoded into the weights and biases of the underlying neural network.

I do think Elon is dumb on a lot of things, but I think he understands this. He’s signaling to his idiot base that he’s going to “unwoke” Grok in a way they understand

Gonna start training Grok with unbiased information like the Tim Poole podcast and PragerU classes.

I'm tipsy and a little high and decided to get ChatGPT to vibe code a virtual AI CEO (named VERA), and then run a controlled test to see how VERA would perform as CEO of Tesla for Jan/Sept 2024 vs Elon Musk's real world performance.  The result?

You are dead fucking wrong.

There are three economic constituencies in this world: 1) rational actors, 2) meme stock investors/bros/koolaid drinkers, and 3) larger investors who ride and exploit the trends of group 2.

Groups 2 and 3 would keep the value of "Flaming Bag of Dog Shit Enterprises, with a Tech Bro Leader who says lots of Tech Bro stuff" near the top of the charts.  Actual commercial value has nothing to do with it.  Tesla may end up having shit for actual commercial value, yet will remain one of the most valuable companies on earth, because meme stocks/bros/exploiters.

… until the shell game runs out and the share value collapses. It can’t happen indefinitely, especially when all objective indicators (like sales) bottom out

100%.  It's going to become like a Nestle of shitty "tech-ish" brands.  Each of which functions to conceal the shittiness of the other brands in the portfolio, while simultaneously being a shit brand itself.  It'll be a conglomeration of shit brands doing this to each other to avoid any negativity and boost total stock price to irrational and insane levels disconnected from any actual value:

Its not possible the AI wanted to gawk at the crime scene like humans... or maybe it was just pissed it couldn't pick up some "Junior Taco". They're on sale 2 for $4 right now.

Yes, they launched today with......tesla stooges riding shotgun. What a momentous achievement.

Quote

On a balmy Sunday in Austin, Tesla fans awaited the promise of the future.

After a few hours of delays, that promise was finally realized, and a select group took their first rides, livestreaming their experience. While Tesla robotaxis are meant to be fully autonomous, Tesla employees were still present in the passenger seat of the cars for safety reasons.

Earlier this month, Tesla CEO Elon Musk teased the launch of the robotaxi, a driverless Tesla Model Y emblazoned with its namesake in Cybertruck-style font. "Beautifully simple design," Musk wrote on X.

"These are unmodified Tesla cars coming straight from the factory, meaning that every Tesla coming out of our factories is capable of unsupervised self-driving," he added.

On Sunday, Musk said the first Tesla robotaxi rides would be available for a flat fee of $4.20. A small group of invited users was the first to try them out.

Tesla fans buzzed on social media in the lead-up to the official launch, which was initially delayed as users awaited the release of the official Tesla robotaxi app.

"We are approaching the window where we expected to have the app and showing everything," Chuck Cook, one of the early invitees to try the Tesla robotaxi, said on X. "There looks like there will be a small delay in the distribution of the app for couple hours."

Cook eventually took the ride. In a livestream, he was impressed when the car made a three-point turn and backed into a parking space.

At the end of the ride, he said the app asked for a tip. A confused Cook said he clicked on the notification and got a message saying "just kidding."

Cook said he was ultimately dropped off more than 10 minutes away from his destination, a Starbucks, because the Tesla robotaxis are still confined to a small area.

Fucking finally! Someone listened to our prayers and invented a taxi service that drops you off 10 minutes from your destination.

Not only 10 minutes from their destination but at a Starbucks no less. This is great news for investors as the sponsor dollars from advertisers where people are forced to be dropped is going to make a killing.

To be fair, if this is truly a "machine learning" exercise, then the machine learning to drive in Austin by watching what Austin drivers do is a recipe for "incredibly shitty driving."  For example, I expect Robotaxis to randomly make left and right turns from the middle lane, in order to blend in with the other drivers around Austin.
