Yeah, I know it is Daily Mail, but the amount is staggering.

The staggering extent of Elon Musk's land grab in Southern state revealed

However, it was not clear until now the staggering extent to which the richest man in the world has expanded in the Lone Star State.

Musk's companies own more than 500 properties covering 6,000 acres in Texas. His expansive network of factories, tunnels, and launch pads spreads from the top to the bottom.

Houston Chronicle did a similar story a few weeks ago that has more info by the looks of it. Reader view bypasses the paywall if your on an apple device.

Ok.  Does it get more "bullshit bubble" than "chip manufacturer invests in consumer of its chips so that consumer can buy its chips?"  It's a fucking loop.  It's not real.

Nvidia has been doing this for years.  Go look into Coreweave.

Oh, I know -- @Pescado_Rojo and I have discussed in the past, he's all over it.  It's just a classic fucking circular scam.

Look that just the kind of stupid red tape that stands in the way of progress. He’s actually doing us all a favor by highlighting the issue. Shouldn’t really even have the slap on the wrist.

when my daughter was little, she liked to play "Free Street." I would pretend to shop, and when I asked how much whatever I was buying cost, she would say somethingl along the lines of 'Daddy, everything is free on Free Street." And I would have to pretend to be amazed by such a thing. Then everytime we played, Free Street would get even crazier, and if I bought one car for free, I would get a second car for free also. Then it would escalate all the way up to I get a million dollars back in change.

IIRC, she was about four years old at the time.

The fact that he just ducked in to make that thread and has never come back is some of the most embarrassingly childish behavior I've ever seen on the internet. He's the perfect Republican.

I think he's really old, so he might just be dead. Or have a new handle.

It's too bad DOGE wasn't able to protect us from the waste, fraud, and abuse of doing a $20,000,000,000 currency swap with Argentina. Right after their farmers ate our farmers lunch, no less.

I mean, lets be fair. Their farmers didn't eat our farmers's lunch. Our policies ate our farmers's lunches.

AI deals with NVIDIA.  This shit.  It's all just a fucking shell game, with the only question being the same question it always is: who's gonna be stuck with the empty shells, while the insiders who rig the game walk away with the shell hiding the ball and get the prize?

When the book is written on this era, it will have a title like "The Scam Economy" or some shit like that.

But it's more than that.  It's vaporware writ large.  It's magical thinking, sales numbers boosted by Elon buying his own cars, NVIDIA setting up vehicles to buy its own chips, etc.  It's fucking fake.

Gosh.  I wonder if they'll get to a point of thinking "hey, if too much of our content is monkeys flinging poo, maybe people won't want to hang out here as much.  Maybe we should, I dunno, have some sort of moderation of that.  We could call it 'content moderation.'"

Just because the content is authentic doesn't mean it's not authentic bullshit,  particularly if it's coming from Elmo.

This is the type of shit I could see Trump getting excited about.

  • A Russian investment envoy proposed that Elon Musk and The Boring Company build a “Putin-Trump” tunnel connecting Alaska and Russia through the Bering Strait.

It would never work and I would love to see him trying to make it work.  The only problem is we'd be pumping hundreds of billions of taxpayer money into Musk's companies.

It's a 10 hour flight from DC to Moscow.  I know I'll regret asking this, but what's the point of a 50-mile tunnel when the flight from DC to Nome alone is 12 hours?

I know, I know.

I’m all for it. Get 1 mile in and tell Musk, Trump and Putin they need to “inspect” it. Then if a collapse happens oh well.

We interrupt your pissing on Elon to report that I TURO'd a Tesla X in California last weekend and it was fantastic.

Now I want one.

I know, I know.

A 50-mile tunnel that uses off-the-lot Teslas, and the traffic is one-way and changes direction a few times a day.

newsflash - Tesla continues to suck

Finland: Tesla cars fail their technical inspections so much, that they drag the statistics down for all electric cars. Five worst cars are:
Tesla 3 (49% fail)
Renault Zoe (19%)
Tesla S (16%)
Tesla X (14%)
Porsche Taycan (12%)

They also have the highest failure rate with the German TüV, which is a label that stands worldwide for its highest quality.

14.7% of the new Model 3 didn't pass the roadworthiness test in Germany in 2024:

https://teslamag.de/news/tuev-report-tesla-model-3-hoechste-durchfaller-quote-verzicht-wartung-kritisiert-62522

European roadworthineas tests are no joke. I would estimate that over 50 percent of U.S. cars on the road would fail a German inspection.

I don’t know if Musk is the dumb one or if he’s just using this as a grift. Regardless, geological time is hard. 450 million years is twice as long as the dinosaurs were around (including several mass extinction events). Humans evolved 300k years ago. It’s just not worth thinking about. We need to gameplan how to keep our planet habitable for the next 200.

NASA losing patience with SpaceX over delays to Starship program

SpaceX sux too

“The problem is they’re behind. They’ve pushed their timelines out, and we’re in a race against China.”

NASA has awarded SpaceX contracts worth roughly $4 billion to turn the company’s Starship vehicle into a lunar lander that can carry the agency’s astronauts to the moon as early as 2027.
