RE Zodiac: 2 things concern me about Arthur Leigh Allen.

1) One of the Zodiac letters had saliva/DNA on a stamp. Not a match to ALA.

2) They served a search warrants on his residences twice and they never arrested him.

Definitely a bad guy, but I can’t get there on him being the Zodiac without a shadow of a doubt. Bizarre he wasn’t arrested for pipe bombs located during a search in 1991. You’d think the ATF would be all over him.

As for the pipe bombs, IIRC he claimed to know nothing about them when they were discovered and asserted that they must have been hidden away in his residence by some ex-con friend who had stayed at the location for a period of time previously.  Pretty thin explanation if you ask me, so I'm not sure why charges were never brought on that basis.

I think they didn’t give a shit about the pipe bombs, and they wanted Allen on the street so they could observe him.

Hindsight is 20-20, but he would have died in prison if he went dow for the pipe bombs.

Yeah, I almost added to my prior post the fact that he was having health issues right around that time, which might have influenced the decision to not charge him.

"The Comeback" about the 2004 Red Sox is great.
Sure was. Watched it last weekend. I liked this one better than the 30 for 30 done forever ago.

Lots of reasons back then for someone else’s stuff on a stamp.  Folks would clip a nickel to the envelope and put it in a mailbox.  Very common.

he’s a smart guy and knew not to keep stuff in his house.  The search warrants mean little as they’re only as good as the cops are at doing searches.  My dad was federal LEO and very good at his job, and he thought most cops and LEOs were lazy, incompetent, and clueless.  He thought few knew how to properly prepare for a search and know what to do once they got a warrant and usually just used it as an excuse to toss a suspects house to harass them.  My old man did them meticulously and most folks never knew he’d been there.

Allen understood ciphers and taught them in his classes.  The visits to all the various future crime scenes with the Seawater kids. The murders and letters stopped for the period of his incarceration and revived soon after release. But the daughter’s name as the next victim in one of the ciphers is more than coincidental in my view.  I think the seawater mother was totally under his control and acted like a vampire familiar to assist him knowingly or not.

Season 2 of The Diplomat has dropped. Have been looking forward to this but extremely disappointed that there are only 6 episodes.

Godless

Apparently it’s from like 4-5 years ago but somehow my wife and I missed it.

Lots of good actors. It’s good through 2 episodes so far

Escape from dannemora is really good.

Incredible cast and pacing

Probably Patricia arquettes best performance.

Ben Stiller has shown himself to be a really really good director.

The first episode was good, but a word of advice: Watch a thorough recap before diving ahead. The short one they offer is way too limited to jump head first into all the moving parts that are still spinning since the last episode of the first season.

You’re absolutely right. I did a season 1 rewatch before watching the new one. I really like it. It gives me a bit of a West Wing vibe. Maybe the guest appearance of Allison Janney triggered that. And the Keri and Rufus chemistry is so great.

CSB: I took my daughter to look at Clemson yesterday and we ran into Tanner from Love on the Spectrum. He’s our favorite from the American seasons and my daughter was seriously starstruck. He was as sweet irl as he was on the show.

I liked this one a lot.  Patricia got fat and a lot went to her boobs but elsewhere also.  Benecio did great of course.

Working on Escape At Dannemora. It’s a very slow burn, maybe too slow, but it does have a great cast with great performances. I never knew Paul Dano could act so normal.

Is there a separate thread for The Diplomat?  Couldn't find it and we just finished Season 2.  Was very entertaining.

SIAP. Season 2 of Sprint is excellent as it covers both the American and Jamaican trials and, of course, the Olympics.

My daughter wanted me to watch Emilia Perez with her because Selena Gomez was in it.  We both enjoy musicals, so the musical aspects to it weren't a problem for us.  I will say that the musical aspects are not your typical movie musical components. Most of the movie was in Spanish with subtitles, which I thought would cause my daughter to lose interest, but it really seemed to help keep her interest.  I’m not sure that I can say that I really enjoyed the movie, but more that I found it really fascinating and interesting.  I was very surprised that it held my daughter’s interest for the entire movie, and it also sparked some discussion between us.  On the whole, I’m glad we watched it and would recommend it.

Also, Zoe Saldana (who also plays the head of the Lioness Program) is very watchable and was very good in it.

It's not your typical Selena Gomez vehicle, but I thought she was great in it.

In.

Four hours of Connie staring into the distance and not moving?

In.

Great show. I know Kevin Millar but his sister (RIP, fuck cancer) and her husband and daughters were/are close friends. He's such an entertaining goober.

Watching the new jonbenet Ramsey documentary. A lot of police departments sure are fucktarded. That wild-eyed female detective that was convinced it was the parents had me thinking she was the killer herself. What a freak.
