December 4, 20241 yr Probably already mentioned in an HBO thread and this one but Scavengers Reign is really, really good if you’re itching for some sci-fi animation. Sad to hear they aren’t moving forward with a second season after buying it off HBO but it honestly doesn’t need one (although I’d love it). Would definitely recommend an episode or more on some weed or psychedelics but definitely not necessary. Edited December 4, 20241 yr by Hank_Hill

December 5, 20241 yr Black Doves is good through 2. Sort of an Americans vibe with Keira Knightley and Ben Whishaw.
December 6, 20241 yr 4 new episodes of Chef’s Table has dropped. I think it’s the gold standard of food related programming. Good storytelling and beautiful cinematography. Edited December 6, 20241 yr by TonyTexas

I stuck it out for the entire season, but felt some of the scenes towards the end were huge eye rolls. Thought the acting was great and I liked the pacing. Enjoyed the drama/suspense with drops of comedy Did not give it 2 thumbs up in the Netflix app.

Probably a good to great show if they cast anybody other Knightley. She’s the female Redmayne. Another weird looking, awkward in every scene Brit that they tried to stick down our throats. The showrunner directed Wolfs. I loved Wolfs. So I’ll give a shot. But Knightley should be grinding out a living on Brit Box, not getting cast in big Netflix shows.
December 7, 20241 yr Chruchill at War is pretty good. some good WWII clips and the guy who plays Churchill is very good. I know WWII has been doc'd to death but more detail about some of the meetings and decisions that were made.

I watched it on HBO last year and absolutely loved it.

December 9, 20241 yr I just started Black Doves and it's not bad. But it really is hard to believe that little twiggy Keira Knightley can fight a grown man and come out on top.

December 11, 20241 yr It gets wilder. I’m almost done w/ Ep 3. I don’t know where Tupelo, MS is, but I will make sure to never go anywhere near there. That whole place is nuttier than squirrel shit.

December 15, 20241 yr Kings of Tupelo was fantastic. Crazy fuckin’ story man- I think it goes even deeper like they were alluding to near the end.

It was the “motion furniture” capital of the world with tons of recliner companies with factories there. That $99 camo rocker recliner was invented by a dude at one of them. kings is absolutely crazy. I thought it was a mockumentary but it’s not. Bet that ex-wife would have been lots of fun back in the day as the singing sex-century.

December 17, 20241 yr Just watched The Long Game. It's about an all Hispanic golf team from Del Rio back in the 50's-won the Texas state championship. It was a nice little movie.

December 19, 20241 yr Finished Black Doves over some flights. Fairly enjoyable although becoming a parent has ruined these characters for me. They are all pieces of shit.
December 19, 20241 yr I also don’t understand the mechanics of that kind of deep cover. Are you getting paid? You’re just a mercenary spy putting your entire life at risk in perpetuity for no personal gain?
December 19, 20241 yr Started that polo (sport, not fashion) documentary. I should probably spoiler, but it's a bunch of vapid assholes spending money to look cool.

I started it and it felt like a bad “Scooby Doo” episode where characters would see things obviously out of context/leap to conclusions etc. Finished first episode and just didn’t have any interest in continuing. Also Kudrow and Romano have absolutely zero chemistry together. If you told me all of the scenes where they were together were actually filmed separately and then they were added together post production I would believe you.
December 19, 20241 yr Carry-On , one of the most ridiculous and roll your eyes action movies. I watched every minute for some reason
