A.P. Bio with Glenn Howerton from It's Always Sunny is pretty good. Him and Patton Oswalt make a good duo. Definitely not as raunchy as It's Always Sunny. Never heard of this show before discovering it last week.

Watched it when it on network tv. I enjoyed it and probably gonna start a rewatch. If you enjoy it I recommend checking out Abbott Elementary, pretty good also

Isn't Abbott Elementary basically ripping off AP Bio?

This could be great if it's honest about Jerry, but you know it'll try to make him look like a football genius.

they're both ripping off welcome back kotter.

Upvote for the Kings of Tupelo, we really enjoyed it once it got rolling.  Episode 3 is certainly the chef's kiss.  I'd be willing to go to Tupelo for a Double Trouble show and maybe get a photo op.  Paul Kevin Curtis is a national treasure.  All is right with the universe. Thank ya', thank ya' very much.

I thought No Good Deed was pretty good and my wife loved it.  Ending was kind of stupid, but overall thumbs up.

We watched Nobody Wants This for a change of pace from the usual serious dramas. I liked the first few episodes but liked it less and less by the end. The “loser siblings” were far better than the main couple.

Most rom-coms feature two people who likely belong together but have certain overcome-able differences that initially stand in the way. This story has two characters who clearly don’t belong together and don’t even have good chemistry, yet I’m supposed to root for them to beat the odds. Just split up already.

this movie is on Hulu and a bunch of the other streaming services, it’s a Swedish sci-fi called Aniara. I watched it last night and just found it enthralling.

It’s slow paced and increasingly grim, the ending made me feel bad but yet I highly recommend it.

It’s won six awards from various international film festivals. Not much character development but still great, it’s hard to describe.

It’s about an extremely large vessel named the Aniara that transports people from earth to mars. Earth is almost uninhabitable in the future and people are leaving in droves. It only takes the Aniara three weeks to get to Mars but it has an accident and I’ll leave the spoilers at that.

Watch it, would love to jeer other opinions

Necro bump. + @bernorange due to another post. I don’t believe this is on Netflix but rather Tubi, at the moment.

caught Aniara last night. Real cheerful movie for a Xmas night. 😂  Still with me today in terms of how I would handle being in that situation.

im a sucker for science/science-fi YouTube videos. The idea of a generational ship seems impossible to me.

Spoiler

I know one thought that I would have if I was on that space ship. I would be pissed at a space ship that had the ability to dump its fuel cores but zero method to stop/slow down with a backup plan.  And WTF earth, you send a probe to us that doesn’t appear to help in any way.

As for the plot, I would have liked some communication back with earth or mars even if those comms were negative. They have ridiculous advanced tech onboard and power but apparently zero method to communicate?

Supposedly a sequel is in the works, and they dropped this documentary today.

Is the new season of squid game worth a shit?

I've watched the first two episodes so far and its compelling.  @kingkoopa6 should weigh in, his post in the Squid Game thread makes it appear that he has watched more of it - maybe the whole season.

I have finished it and I will not spoil

but will say, It’s way more gruesome than season one

Would watch games again

Wife and I watched it last night. Ran like an AI-written/directed thriller. Just terrible.

Watched the doc 'Tell Them You Love Me' last night.   It's a bit of a difficult watch, but I thought it was great.

I went into it completely blind, had not heard a peep about it.  Several layers to unfold from that story.  I will say I was surprised that no one drilled down on the time Sherronda spent with Derrick.  She was the only one outside of Anna that independently corroborated her narrative, and it was basically dismissed.

That may or may not have played a bigger role in real life than it did in the doc.

Had to look her up.  I feel minor shame that I didn't know she played Alice because that was one of the shows that was on anytime I was 'sick' and stayed home from school.  She had a real small part in No Good Deed.

Still have yet to watch the first season.  I guess this is going on my list.

I’m curious. Why haven’t you watched season 1 yet ?

Been 3 years, was a smash hit and it won a bunch of tv awards.

But I get it, if that genre ain’t your thing.

When it came out the premise just seemed really depressing and I wasn’t up for it. On top of that it was all in Korean with subtitles so it was gonna be a hard sell with the wife.

Undefeated

Anyone recommend Black Doves w Keira Knightley? We just finished Day of the Jackal and want some more thriller spy stuff to watch.

Finally watched the Wyatt Earp doc from a year or two ago the other day, pretty good shit. First ep was like 49 minutes, rest were shorter.

Yeah. BD was pretty enjoyable.

I hear Netflix has an Iron Maiden doc coming out

yeah, my wife can't read either.

"It Ends With Us," is solid.  I paid more attention than normal because of what is now going on behind the scenes.

Blake Lively is going to fucking ruin him.

He’s one of my favorite comedians and I thought it sucked. Didn’t even watch the last 15 mins. Literally every joke was just “my wife is smart and I am dumb”. He also recycled that community college joke and just changed it a little bit.

Seems like I'd heard half of the jokes before.  Maybe he used them in his last SNL monologue.

I used to love him and Sebastian but both of them have put out some pretty lame specials the last few years.  They've also both gotten rich as shit doing so.  Who am I to argue with that?

I had already seen him perform this material in person a few months back in Houston. It was better in person, but not his best work. He seemed nervous on the special and his delivery was off.

I'm a huge fan, so I'm trying to find a good defense here.  He's had two stints on SNL and a tour since his last special.  A huge chunk of this special rehashed both SNL monologues which themselves borrowed from the live tour.  If you had not seen the SNL monologues or seen him on tour, this special probably would have seemed better.  He has a new book and a tour coming this year, so hopefully he was saving some good stuff for those things.

I need Netflix to mark which shows I've watched.  There are 5 specials for every comedian and I have no clue what the names of the ones I've watched are.

Wouldn’t the progress bar tell you if you watched?

I have a high bar for stand up comedy.  Most of them just aren't that funny.  I thought his last special was ok.  I had recently watched one of his older ones and it didn't strike me as noticeably better.  The funniest shit I've ever seen from him was his two George Washington skits on SNL recently.

It does not.  Even if it did, it would be a beating to have to start every show and then hit pause just to see if you'd watched it previously.
