February 16Feb 16 I'm only two episodes into this, but The Decameron is funny as fuck. It's set in Medieval Italy on an estate outside of Florence where people are vacationing to get away from the plague in the big city. Oh, it's got one of the Derry Girls chicks and the tall goofy chick from Sex Education. Edited February 16Feb 16 by bolverk

I highly recommend, especially for y'all Houston folks. Thanks for the recommendation. Binged both seasons. Really a fantastic, humanistic show. Both Mo and his mother were awesome. I almost died laughing at Hameed a few times.
February 17Feb 17 Would be nice if those Somalia fucks in the doc ended up with slit throatsMore like the cover convoy guys need their asses kicked for bailing
February 18Feb 18 Court of Gold is a must see for US Bball fans. Follows US, France, Canada and Serbia through the Olympics to the final game with Steph's legendary performance. Great one ones with players from all teams. Edited February 18Feb 18 by MissingInAction
February 19Feb 19 Getting around to watch the OJ Manhunt thing for some reason lol....but will say it is pretty well done. Still amazed how they were able to fuck this all up.Good to see Carl Douglas (the lawyer) is hanging on til the end like a piece of shit
February 19Feb 19 Just started American Murder Gabby Petito. Have a feeling this isn't going to end well.
February 19Feb 19 Anyone ever watch I Am A Killer? First half of each episode you're like, 'Hmm, maybe this person isn't a complete piece of shit'. Then the second half when others start talking, 'Yep, this mother fucker still sucks'. Edited February 19Feb 19 by shadow_operative2.0

To this day the most genuine killer they have interviewed. He was a genuine psycho but he made no qualms about it.
February 19Feb 19 They're on season 4 now, ain't like there's a lack of convicted murderers out there to choose from.

Netflix doesn’t miss with true crime documentaries. I already know all the details, but the editing and pacing makes for a very entertaining 45 minutes. Despite some unfortunate tattoos, Gabbie’s friend Rose has to be the best looking Domino’s delivery driver ever.

One is I was strangely attracted to that gay chick, the other is the body cams they had were crystal clear. Utah and Florida, high-quality level videos. If the security industry in general all had that good of cameras, a lot of shit could get solved quickly.

February 20Feb 20 Petito doc was a sad watch. The Moab bodycam was especially tough to see, how scared she was, how she kept blaming herself and how she was afraid to be away from him still. Crazy how he was mostly unemployed that whole time and she got a job at dominos so they could buy the van. Dude was an all-around loser.
February 20Feb 20 *Taco Bell....you know where losers work according to her non loser jobless boyfriend who was abusive physically and emotionally and actually murdered someone The other blonde worked at Domino's
February 20Feb 20 Yea unfortunately many cops are woefully untrained when it comes to DV & coercive control. Unreal what complete pieces of shit his parents were, too. While who knows how much money and manpower was spent searching, they just sat by silently knowing exactly what happened. Their worthless son would still be alive if they possessed anything resembling a moral compass. I wonder if they were hoping he offed himself so the public would lose interest in the case.
February 21Feb 21 Gabby had the van and Brian was in the hotel room after the Moab stop. One wire transfer and she could have made it home. I know parents say enough is enough with their kids, but a lot of these true crime stories end because a parent won’t send them anymore money. Gabby’s mother, God bless her, should have been on the first thing smoking to SLC after Moab. Texting her are you ok? doesn’t accomplish shit. Edited February 21Feb 21 by billfromlaketravis
February 21Feb 21 Well she reconnected with her killer first chance she got, so I doubt she'd have been receptive of mom dropping in. Also the Moab cops, like many cops, see things as the abuser sees them so they can't process that maybe the woman is actually in trouble. Not sure you can train them to realize men lie to keep control, and women lie our of fear.

But yeah, cops gonna cop.

I read that situation as the cops wanting to do the bare minimum amount of work in that situation. But seeing how freaked out she was in that video, it should have raised red flags. And there is no chance that I would have come away from that thinking she was the abuser. Abusers don't tell the cops "oh it was all my fault". Edited February 21Feb 21 by Pam Cummings
February 22Feb 22 What the hell ever happened to Black Mirror? Show was really good. Even the episodes I didn't care for that much were pretty good. Seems like it'd be a money maker as production couldn't have been that high. I know they started to bring in some higher end actors during the last season, but it seems like they could pump out a handful of episodes every year or so. Edit: Looks like a new season is coming out this year. Edited February 22Feb 22 by Knoxtnhorn Did the work

His name was Miguel Venegas, when he was 16, he and 17 year old Miguel Martinez broke into the house of 41 year old James Smiley. There are rumors that Smiley had previously molested Martinez. Venegas was just a crazy person, believing he was the son of the devil, etc. He found an axe in the house and murdered Smiley and two 14 year old boys from Mexico who were sleeping over at Smiley’s house that night with it (so yes he probably was a child molester). Venegas somehow got a 41 year sentence. Martinez got the death penalty, one of the youngest to ever get it in the state, even though he didn’t commit the axe murder portion. His sentence was later commuted to life in prison. The episode was called “Sympathy for the Devil”, season 1.

Who do you arrest here? Nobody is getting convicted in that case. The cops did separate them giving her a chance to get away, but she went back to him just hours later. You can only do so much for people sometimes. Now, they should have given her the motel room and sent him off in the van. As far as his parents, what a couple of absolute scumbags. If that’s my son, the police are waiting for him when he drives up to the house. The apple certainly didn’t fall far from the tree with these three shitbags.

February 23Feb 23 Since we had watched a couple of movies & series made in Korea, the algo offered up the suggestion of some K Food shows and so we've been slowly working our way through them. The K Food Show: A Nation of Kimchi was quite fascinating. The hosts are enthusiastic (understated comment) but learning about the variety and regional differences was also fascinating. Another series with the same 3 hosts (also 2 episodes) was banchan (side dishes) and in the second episode there is a bit where they've taken a 6 meter long piece of bamboo and cooked a meal in it--it's pretty cool. We've still got a few left to go--soju, fried chicken, etc some of which feature a different host, but overall we've enjoyed the visual feast and learned quite a bit. As a side note, we've also watched a few movies/series from India but didn't get 'pushed' by the algo the same way so I may do a quick search after we've run through the above shows and see what's out there. Talk about a variety of cuisine and regional differences! Edited February 23Feb 23 by Mrs Whiggins omission

I would try to open a chain of Asian fried chicken drive-thrus if I were a VC (venture capital not Viet Cong). An appetizer of chicken wings at just about any Asian restaurant is better than most US chicken drive-thrus. I think they use hotter oil for quick, crispy frying. I'll sell this idea for a new car. And a case of beer. And a chair. Takers?
February 23Feb 23 Korean Fried Chicken, beer, and soju are a legit tasty treat for us. Not the healthiest so we don't get to indulge as much as we'd like, but so satisfying to scratch that flavor combo.

February 23Feb 23 It's already on the list! We used to watch a lot of Iron Chef back when it first aired on FN and enjoyed it for a number of years but fell out of watching the 'competition' style shows. This one looks fun so it was added to the queue.
