Wife and I started watching the 2nd Shiny Happy People doc last night. It's about "Teen Mania", which I should have heard of but never did. Not sure why. It was centered in east TX in the late 90s and targeted teenagers as an evangelical movement. I grew up in small town east TX but YoungLife was the big youth brainwasher there. Maybe they were competitors and YL kept TM out of my town.

Anywho while watching the first episode, there's this montage clip of all these teenagers yelling into the camera what foreign country they're gonna go visit for a mission trip. One redhead girl goes "I'm going to Ukraine!" and my wife pauses the show in disbelief.

It was her former coworker and my son's Pre-K teacher. She texted her and confirmed it. That lady is a total hippie chick now so it makes it even more hilarious.

Started this, too.  Like you, growing up Southern Baptist, I should have heard of these people but never did.  I suspect the post date me.  They look like they're in the 90's and I peaced out before then.

We laughed at how every single one of the former people they interview are now gay.  (Not that there's anything wrong with that.)

I watched a couple of episodes of Hunting Wives last night and it’s one of the biggest pos I’ve seen in a while. Full of  Texas caricatures and cliches . The only redeeming factor is  Malin Ackerman plays a milf in heat and that’s not even that great. She’s definitely lost her fastball.

First I’d ever seen of her and she’s a smokin hot milf for my standards. Which are admittedly low. But got damn she’s a whore in that show. And some nice girl on girl action. Basically a modern day Cinemax porn.

i saw something today where a family member of the girl who went missing from the cruise ship said he believes that she was taken by scientologists who got her onto another ship and never let her go.

We finished it up and it was the raciest thing I've ever seen on Netflix by a wide margin.  I wonder what the pitch was.  "It's like Ransom Canyon but on Skinemax."

The only "evidence" is some unreliable eyewitness accounts of sightings happening months to years after her disappearance and some questionable analysis of online photos.  I found none of it credible or interesting at all.
At 5:30 am she was seen on the balcony of her family's room.  Nothing happened to wake up a room full of sleeping people between 5:30 - 6 am, at which point she was noticed missing.
So the kidnap theory is that she left the room of her own accord barefoot in a t-shirt and jeans sometime between 5:30- 6 am, and her kidnappers saw that she had left her room, were able to snag her from a public area of the ship without notice, and then smuggle her unnoticed off of the ship in Curacao.  Oh, and the ringleader of this kidnapping effort was the bass player of the ship's band... and the entire ship's crew was in on identifying and assisting with the abduction of young women for Caribbean sex-trafficking.

You are not accurately describing the “kidnap theory”. There was discussion that she may have left the ship willingly (to parry or score drugs) and then been trafficked.

I do agree that an old school snatching her off the ship against her will scenario seems highly implausible.

Completely disagree. It’s been fantastic but probably because I love CFB. I could watch behind the scenes for the AAC and enjoy. Watched E1 and E2 so far and love it. Can’t wait to get home from work tomorrow and possibly finish all of it since the wife is at the in-laws.

This.  Watched episode 1 last night.  Looking forward to the rest.

I don't watch WWE, but grew up watching wrestling so the Unreal series they did is pretty good. On Ep 3 of it.

Make that four. Her name is Park Eun-bin and I've watched a lot of her series. I really liked her in The King's Affection but that series wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea. I also haven't watched her most recent show (Hyperknife) because I'm too cheap to pay for yet another platform and I don't want to do the subscribe for a month thingy. but yeah, Extraordinary Attorney Woo is outstanding and it earned a lot of accolades including the Grand Prize at the Baeksang Arts Awards for Ms. Park. It's heartwarming, funny, and the cast did a bang up job.

Just watched the first one. Starts off kind of slow with the prolonged introductions, but that last half was outstanding.

That hunting wives was something else.  Questionable plot, acting, writing.

I know I’m a little late to the party but I just watched Running Point and I liked it a lot more than I anticipated. Of course, I’ve had a small crush on Kate Hudson since Almost Famous.

Agreed. First episode of season 2 started dreadfully slow but I assume that’s bc it’s been 3 years. “Hey remember these people And places?!?!”

My kids have watched kpop demon hunters no less than 8 times since it came out. Sat down and watched it today with them. Right on par with the shit Disney is putting out there. I’ve watched much worse.

Yep, my daughter loves it and plays the songs on Alexa frequently when it's not on TV.  It's terrible.  But catchy.

Golden is the song of the summer. Been seeing it on tons of DJ sets. Sticky as shit.

Looks like there is going to be a second season. I will say the Koreans seem to make a point of ending things after one season which for most shows in general is the right move.

I'm dubious that there will be a second season as most of the talk I've seen is from celeb gossip sites or fan made clickbait trailers. The director and Park Eun-bin do have, however, a series that is yet to release titled The Wonderfools, but it is along the lines of action/superpower/comedy IIRC.

I agree about the one shot series with respect to their industry and while I can relate to loving a series so much that viewers want to keep going, in South Korea is further complicated by the mandatory military service for males and casting (among other things).

Spoiler for those who haven't watched Vincenzo on Netflix and if one has not, try it (give it a couple of episodes if you're not used to Korean comedy and slower plot development). It's very entertaining on multiple levels. I highly recommend with subtitles though as the actors' voices really give it that extra oomph.

Spoiler

Many fans (heavily female in number) wanted a second season to Vincenzo (which was a great series), but for me it was fine with one. The writer, Park Jae-beom, did a masterful job of paying homage to various film genres (martial arts and western especially) and his 'hero' was always destined to portray a Shane/William Munny type who may love the woman and his 'found' family but he's never going to have the epilogue of wife, kids, and a dog. I respect that.

I thought it was very well done series.  Looking forward to the next season.  Wouldn't mind seeing a bit more buxom broads in the mix.

Business Proposal is next on the list for me to watch

BP has a lot more comedy than angst but it was a sweet watch. If you watch very many Korean series, you'll recognize a number of the cast.

Samantha and Rachel still cracks me up...

The Devil Judge is leaving Netflix on the 23rd, so if you are looking for a retributive justice type series, it's a decent watch. 16 episodes.

Wife and I finished season 1 last night. watchable and kept me guessing. wasn't stoked about ending but it wasn't immediately clear there was going to be a second season. anyway, worth watching, especially if you and/or your spouse enjoy watching naked people on screen

was sorta hoping for some depth analysis in here, but the portrayal of closeted behaviors that are pervasive throughout the show is either a mirror on rich rural culture or it's a caricature. either way it didn't come off as a compliment

Netflix (deservedly so) gets full credit for generating great content over the last few years. And then there's garbage like this. Guess everyone deserves a hall pass.

Texas caricatures and cliches can be capitalized upon in quality fashion. See Mike Judge. In this case it was a failure and a show that was pretty much unwatchable despite Malin's 24/7 Open For Business sign on her vagina.

We watched Stolen: Heist of the Century this week.  It is about a diamond robbery in Antwerp.  The main character Leonardo is suave, slick, and smart as hell.  There are some surprises along the way and at the end you'll be.........

wondering or surprised again.  TBH, I'm not sure if the story is over or Leonardo is living well.

What do I know about diamonds?

Don’t they come from Antwerp?

If you’re into drumming, pianos, J drama with anime style acting, and j rock music, check out Glass Heart on Netflix.

I binged it in a couple of days…sometimes it drags, pretty typical for JTV/anime..  but I liked it.

actress is as cute as a button too
