Yep. When was the last time one of these draft risks made it to campus? Well, I guess Cantu....the baseball gods owe us one.

Another player from Sinton High School to watch is RHP Wyatt Wiatrek, Class of 2022, with a projectable frame, currently sits mid 80's, projects to lower 90's.

He recently moved to Sinton and plays for the Texas Twelve baseball program during the summer.

Quote

Wyatt Wiatrek is a 2022 RHP/1B/OF with a 6-2 190 lb. frame from Portland, TX who attends Gregory-Portland HS. Athletic build with strength and projectable frame, primary pitcher with a strong lower half. Has easy rhythm and tempo in the delivery with a small rocker step for timing before a higher leg lift and slight hip turn generates big downhill angle to the plate through a high 3/4 arm slot. Fastball has heavy arm-side run, that he commands well, while topping at 82 mph. Curveball has 11/5 shape with tight rotation and solid down action through the zone, displayed the ability to land it consistently. Maintains an aggressive approach and attacks hitters with solid command. Aggressive at the plate with bat speed and shows feel for consistently hard contact with plus power potential in the bat. Secondary infielder that has arm strength, physical actions and developing footwork that will improve with added repetitions. Good student.

Keep your eye on LHP Dalton Beck, Class of 2020

Beck at one time was committed to Wichita State, but the Recruiting Coordinator, Sammy Esposito, from Wichita State is now at UofH and Beck decided to open up his recruitment. As this was a domino effect, Former UofH Assistant Coach, Ryan Shotzberger is now the head coach out at the University of Incarnate Word as the former head coach there, Patrick Hallmark is now the head coach at UTSA.

Beck is from Reedy High School(Frisco, Texas) sits upper 80's touched 90 at the Area Code Tryouts.

Beck was offered and is expected to visit soon.

Here is his Bullpen video from two weeks ago

Are those New Balance?

New Balance has become a player in baseball. As to the lefty, perhaps Nike will allow him to throw a strike. Not sure he threw one strike in that session. Projecting a lefty might be the most difficult scouting job in baseball.

RHP Levi Well, La Porte Texas, was at one time committed to the UofH, he has backed off of that commitment and now it will come down between A&M and Texas. Wells will visit both schools soon before making a decision.

Wells sits 90-94, topping out at 95  with a power curve ball.

Hmmm, there was this tweet today saying he's headed to Texas Tech.

So mlb it is

Maybe he's the righty version of an undervalued crafty lefty who just gets people out.

Luke was at the Baseball Showcase camp this past Sunday and today he pulled the trigger

While I was working this past Sunday out at UFCU Disch Falk Field, I had the opportunity  to visit with Head Coach David Pierce.

We discussed recruiting, Tulo, and Huston so take a listen

Good stuff. Almost sounds like a secret recording vs Coach doing an interview he knew was being made public.

Outfielder Gage Wakefiled from Bullard High School, Class of 2021, pulled the trigger today. Wakefield had two doubles and was playing some great defense out in the outfield.

He is a good kid, his dad is the head baseball coach in Eagle Pass!

Gee, thanks Baseball America!

Good for the kid, i'm sure he was never going to attend a class here.

I always fine it amusing when these other guys decide to jump on a players bandwagon..

Uh, hello, where have you been?
