August 28, 20241 yr Dr visit this morning went well. Turns out it’s a strength problem. His shoulder isn’t strong enough and it’s putting strain on the muscles around his elbow. Not tennis elbow, just a strained muscle. Going to do some PT and teach him a routine to help strengthen his shoulders. Huge relief. Avoid over doing it for the next week and he should be good to go.

Something I ended up doing was setting up a glass jar for each of my kid's tournament rings. Each of my sons has a glass jar full of their tournament championship rings. My daughter has one for softball tournament rings too.
November 24, 20241 yr My youngest is switching teams for the spring due to the politics of his current team. For some reason certain players are given all the opportunities despite repeated errors and failure. My son has done well when given the opportunity. It is either pay to play or Mack brown style coaching. The other players have been with them longer. Either way, I let the head guy know and he did not take it well. My son has subbed some for his new team and loves the coach. I am excited for the future.
November 24, 20241 yr Know the feeling. Kid is on a team has 5th highest average on team. 52 at bats has struck out 0 times. Fielding percent in the 90s. Yet hits bottom 3 and bench half time on defense. In favor of a kid whose dad pays coach for private lessons.
November 27, 20241 yr Continuing the story. The head guy for the org we are leaving found out where my son was going and tried to poach the coach. That guy coaches my older son's team as well (and the head guy knows it) and it would have blown the fuck out of my kids baseball world. Thankfully it didn't work and he isn't leaving. Holy shit what a slimy fucking move. I hate this stupid baseball world we have to navigate through. When you find an amazing coach and think everything is great and some asshole tries to blow it up out of spite. Fuckem. Edited November 27, 20241 yr by HOOKEM4 ousux

December 8, 20241 yr I would like to offer a prayer to the baseball Gods to look after me and my family and have our team lose the noon game. Because I’m going to lose my shit if we have to play again at six in fucking Waller.
December 9, 20241 yr The baseball gods smiled at me today. And I thought we were going to roll them after the first.
February 5Feb 5 I had no idea there was this big of a difference between USSSA bats and USA baseball bats. My little dude was swinging his 27” Cat X JBB really well but I figured we would need to jump up at least to a 28” for pee wee. Any recs on a bat that isn’t terrible? He’s been using a hand me down de marini voodoo and he really doesn’t like it.

At a young age they really can’t go wrong with that. They are too young to worry about end weighted, etc. CATs are end weighted (what big power hitters swing). A one or two piece evenly distributed aluminum works for almost every younger kid.
