July 17, 20187 yr Basically looking for Sonos that works inside and outside. Nothing fancy, this is a beach house, but it would be nice to have Sonos functionality and ease of use for playing music in different zones, but they don't have outdoor speakers. Any suggestions for other options that are wireless based, not Bluetooth?
July 17, 20187 yr Have heard good things about this setup, but don't own it, so depends on what you have already and expensive. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sonos-sonance-outdoor-speaker-streaming-audio-bundle-with-xpress-audio-keypad-white-gray/6196623.p?skuId=6196623&cmp=RMX&extStoreId=2510&ref=212&loc=DWA&gclid=CjwKCAjwhLHaBRAGEiwAHCgG3s2XM3ihA-f_WN-w02I_orrEVA8R9kg7L_A_cpCIPyrZqY0ZTLDLahoCwvYQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
July 17, 20187 yr I have a sonos PLAY that I hook up to amps/speakers. I use one amp (bridged) to drive two all weather subs and another to drive the higher sounds. Then when you come inside from the pool for a beer the same music is playing and you dont get all pissy that you cant hear Zeppelin anymore.
July 17, 20187 yr I have a pretty rudimentary set up using Bluetooth speakers and Amazon Alexa. Now that it allows for multi speaker playing we have it going outside by the pool on some outdoor speakers and inside for when you need to get a drink or something like that. I don’t typically have any audiophiles over so quality isn’t much of an issue for now.

Thanks. 6 hours ago, beer said: I have a sonos PLAY that I hook up to amps/speakers. I use one amp (bridged) to drive two all weather subs and another to drive the higher sounds. July 17, 20187 yr Author Thoughts on this setup? Not looking for surround sound/movie watching type theater quality. Mostly just easy to connect and ability to listen to various things in different rooms. LR - Sonos Playbar or Beam for TV and Music Upstairs BR - Sonos Beam for TV/Music Outside - Sonos CONNECT:AMP Streaming Hi-Fi Player (White) with Klipsch AW-650 6.5" Reference Series Outdoor Loudspeaker I'm guessing that all of those would be able to play independently, e.g., someone watching TV in the Living Room can watch and have sound and someone could be watching TV upstairs on a different channel, and someone else could be outside listening to music. Not familiar with Sonos, so just checking it can handle several different zones like that before I purchase. Thanks

Thanks Pretty sure that would work, and you can listen to 3 different streams or any combination thereof. Sonos now has Airplay 2 if you are using an Apple product as your source. Haven't been able to hear the Beam yet. I use a Connect:Amp with a pair of Polk outdoor speakers on my patio; totally happy with that decision.

Is the connect outside with the speakers or is it inside and you ran wire out for the Polks?

My Connect:Amp is in a closet with my network gear (I run a full UniFi setup in my house, rooms wired for Cat6-A), and I ran the speaker wire through the attic out to the eaves. I wouldn't put the amp outside; it's not even remotely weather resistant.
July 1Jul 1 Pushing this one to the top. We're about to re-do our deck and installation of a couple of ceiling speakers is on the wish list. I'm told there are speakers we can buy that have an amplifier built in, and that can play music via bluetooth or audio for an outdoor TV (this is the two use cases). Does anyone have a recommendation?
July 1Jul 1 I have a Yamaha receiver/tuner connected to my tv and 4 Klipsch speakers. It has BT as well. I can even change the channel on the receiver and play music from the speakers while watching tv full blast.

Does anyone have a recommendation? Wired speakers or amplified solo speakers with a bluetooth connection? This seems gimmicky and I'm not sure they can be paired into zones, but here's one cheaper example: https://www.homedepot.com/p/SVOPES-2-Piece-6-5-in-Bluetooth-Ceiling-Speakers-150-W-Flush-Mount-8-Impedance-89-dB-Sensitivity-for-Home-Kitchen-DPXDYSQ65YCLOVPZAV1-V1225/334261676?source=shoppingads&locale=en-US&srsltid=AfmBOopaWTixyht-3EWX6nDxwdK2kO8sFyHNP-jHXv311uwQIb1cWLmyRko https://www.homedepot.com/p/VEVOR-4-Pieces-6-5-in-Bluetooth-in-Ceiling-Speakers-150-Watt-Flush-Mount-Ceiling-In-Wall-Speaker-w-8-Impedance-for-Home-DPXDYSQ65YCSYB22LV1/331250362?MERCH=REC-_-pipsem-_-334261676-_-0-_-n/a-_-n/a-_-n/a-_-n/a-_-n/a Wired speakers are all I have experience with and I can't recommend Sonos because of the way they borked their early adopters with forced obsolescense, poor software design, and privacy concerns. Spotify Connect native is a huge benefit if you're a Premium subscriber. It allows for direct speaker connection and control via your Spotify app or player on the same network. My home is all Bose SoundTouch with a mix of SVS in the theater and Ubiquiti for the network, so I feel comfortable recommending these three: https://www.bose.com/p/speakers/bose-music-amplifier/MUAMP-AMPLIFIER.html?srsltid=AfmBOop4IuYq0JucDg_t9sIoiUKYPL4F1ZpTyanDGKhBTiW5ycnXexxN https://www.svsound.com/products/prime-wireless-pro-soundbase?srsltid=AfmBOoqQOsZpQz18O6wd7WTOfTbTfUcX-bD2JhmW4tfEvZ14Zd6vU7jW https://store.ui.com/us/en/products/upl-amp Edited July 1Jul 1 by Gravy Train

I'm presuming wired; like you, I'm out on Sonos for the same reason (past Sonos owner). I met with an AV person who said that their are outdoor speakers that don't require a separate amplifier, which seems like a good idea since it's just a two speaker set up.
