Well very annoying - Messi isn’t just playing tonight against the Revs, he’s starting!!

And the Revs said welcome to Boston scoring seconds into the game.

La pulga metió dos goles. 🇦🇷/🇲🇽/🇪🇸

✌️

Deux buts! 🇫🇷/🇨🇦

…and a late assist to Suarez.

37 seconds of offense isn't going to get it done in any league, even the MLS.

The Revs are a shell of the team that they were under Arena last year.

In case you love the rioplatense accent like I do, Argentina 🇦🇷 (and Uruguay 🇺🇾 & Paraguay 🇵🇾) of the MLS are looking to add another piece to their puzzle of North American dominance!

¡¡FIDEO viene!!

Messi doesn’t like it, but the MLS is probably the test league for an awesome new rule.

Messi unhappy with MLS sideline rule despite Miami victory

Inter Miami's Lionel Messi expressed his anger over the new Major League Soccer rule that forces an injured player to the sideline for two minutes, saying, "These types of rules...it's going bad," after exiting the pitch during a 3-2 victory over host Montréal on Saturday night.

In the 40th minute of the match, Montréal defender George Campbell fouled the Argentine forward, forcing him to go down immediately while holding his knee. Miami's medical staff rushed to the scene to attend to the player, but Campbell did not receive a yellow card for the incident.

Because of new MLS regulations, "If the referee stops play due to a potential player injury in which the player remains on the ground for more than 15 seconds and the medical staff enters the field of play, the player may be required to leave the field of play for two minutes."

Messi exited the pitch in a crucial moment, after the foul inspired a free kick for Miami in a prime position for the player to score.

During his brief stint on the sideline, the player turned to the camera to express disdain while angrily shaking his head.

Following the game, Miami coach Gerardo Martino expressed the team's frustration over the new rule by adding: "There are situations that must be revised.

IN SUMMARY:

I absolutely love this rule.

I can see why a league in the USA & Canada would be more than happy to test out this new rule. With football & hockey being the two biggest sports in the region, fans don’t like the bullshit.

College football, and especially the SEC, needs to enact some kind of similar rule, but much more than “2 minutes”.

I like the new rules.  Seem to move the game along quicker.  There were zero minutes stoppage in the first half of last night's Austin FC v. Houston game.

With a score like that, not much a classique. More like Canadian Forgettable.

A Canadian Classique to remember! 🇨🇦Bernardeschi scores his first MLS hat trick in @TorontoFC's 5-1 victory over Montreal: https://t.co/CtqP2svoZb#RivalryWeek by @continentaltire

Messi, Suárez, and Busquets aren't gonna make it with the team to Vancouver this weekend. Vancouver FC trying to get out ahead of the outrage. Honestly 50% off food and bev is a pretty decent sorry.gif.d98717df9687e9174dccfeca5ae6022b.gif offering for something they have zero control over

Lol, I just watched Miami down 2 men and they beat Philadelphia 2-1 scoring a late breakaway. They were tied 1-1 and Miami lost 2 men after that. Then the late breakaway.

That was nuts

Dallas fired their manager and actually scored in their first game since ridding themselves of Berhalter’s former assistant coach.

Scored TWICE actually.

Don’t think that they have won by two goals all season.

Mikey is making his home/MLS debut tonight in the St. Louis v Atlanta game in St. Louis.

He made his big team debut in February in the CONCACAF game in Houston. He’s #40 for St. Louis.

The team needs an infusion of talent, especially on offense.

I don’t follow the MLS much but what the hell is a best of 3 playoff series in a 16 team knockout tournament? Some of the stupidest shit I’ve ever seen in sports.

You say that’s stupid and you haven’t even looked at the rest of the playoffs where they use single games for each subsequent round.

I do say that it’s stupid.

If Atlanta knocking out Miami this year doesn’t get rid of this ridiculous playoff format, the MLS can just pack it in because it’s not a serious league.

I get why they're doing it, but I'm going to miss watching MLS in the summer with no competition.

So fans of FC Dallas, do y'all plan on buying anybody this year or just having a fire sale and replacing them with academy kids?

I stopped following the team (and the league) when they took the Burn’s games off of free TV on Saturday evenings and put everything behind the Apple TV paywall.

I only follow the USMNT when it comes to soccer games in the USA.

The last FC Dallas Burn game I went to was in late ‘23 (or ‘22?) when Willie played after the game. I went, because I had never seen Willie live and his sister played that night before dying early the next year.

Last adult soccer game I went to was in Austin when the USMNT barely beat Jamaica’s B team due to an OG right before the end of regulation that sent the game to OT.

Wasn't that in Arlington?

Trying to figure out the game you're talking about then. Because you described the USMNT Nation's League semi-final game against Jamaica (Arlington)

https://youtu.be/uSL1XCmNS-Y?si=Sqp2xmOJhwBMhE6K&t=503

And the only Austin game we played Jamaica was in WCQ, which allowed ties (but it was a 2-0 US win).

You are right!

 Merged that match…

…with the Jamaica near loss.

Looking at the box score, I guess that it was because we didn’t do shit until the 82’ and my brain must have been hoping for a loss to get rid of Berhalter.

PS- I grabbed this photo because of the big American flag 🇺🇸, but looking at it once it was posted, I guess the behind the goal supporters’ section is arguably the gayest section in the stadium.

🤷‍♂️

I found a channel for Milan/Inter on cable the other day. It was in Spanish, but I could still watch the game.

$20/mo to watch like half of one team's games in the 10th best league in the world doesn't make sense to me.
