Well, how much of a shitstorm did you and your ilk raise about Trump being a womanizer? Here we’ve got Kamala Harris who is WELL known for sleeping with married men while working her way through a pol

I suppose it is something of a valid point that she was not even hardly in contention in the Democratic Primary in 2020.  Part of it was inexperience and part I think that she was "a cop."
Now she's wildly popular.
But one thing I think has changed, and it's not so much her experience as Veep, but the fact that Biden has a fully functional and fairly smoothly operating Cabinet and other appointed officials (Officers of the United States). I assume that she's not going to fuck with that much.  I really hope she learned from the debacle that apparently was her VP staff and will stick with Joey Two-Scoops' people.
Also, yes she can be considered a "lesser of two evils" vote.  But, unlike most times that shibboleth is uncorked, the greater of the evils is actually, well, evil.
The good people who were pulling each other down in 2020 have decided to rally around one of those people. We all had our favorites in that group, and now everyone in that group supports Harris. And just lukewarm, hedging your bet support (that's what I felt Biden's supprt was). This is full fledged, and unfailing. If she's good enough for Pete, she's good enough for me.

JD Vance is the Bobby Bonilla

My wife used to be very involved and cared about politics since 2015, but the last 8 months or so she basically forbade the talk of politics in our house. She didn’t want to hear any of it.

Since Biden stepped down, she is right back into it. She’s asking me to put on podcasts, hell, even CNN to watch Biden’s speech. She’s reinvigorated. She was always going to vote, but this has really brought her back into the fold.

She should STFU.  She knew what Trump and Trumpism was when she went all-in on it.  When you vote straight-ticket Leopards Eating People's Faces Party, you have zero basis to bitch when they eat your face.

It just occurred to me as the MLB trade deadline approaches.

An elderly man I know who I am related to and is my father in law is struggling with “Kamala”.
He is a traditional Texas Republican of the John Tower/Bush sr variety. He hates Trump. He voted Hillary and Biden to vote against Trump. He will not, under any circumstances vote for Trump in 2024.
When Trump dropped out he was elated because he thought Manchin would somehow get the nomination. Now he can’t believe that Beshear or really any of the “traditional” candidates would consider “working for Kamala”.
I asked him in 2008, didn’t he feel proud of America even though he had voted for McCain? He agreed he did and acknowledged this was similar, but it was just hard because everything has changed so much, but he would probably vote for Harris with my daughters in mind even though it would be uncomfortable for him.

Thanks for sharing.  This is going to be difficult for many.   Maybe a loving approach, listening, as suggested above, is the only real way to start.

You need to emphasize that Beshear and the others are not working FOR Kamala, they are working WITH Kamala alongside everyone else in this country trying to stop the Trump freak show.

I think it’s good for those who are ready to receive it, anyway.

Not sure that helps. He’s struggling to accept what he already knows, at least intellectually: that a black woman could be President of the United States and that we are better off if she is. There’s really no getting an around that fact, other than meeting it.

I know this sounds terrible but I would try to hammer home the fact that Trump is such an evil piece of shit that the only way to save this country from his incompetence is by electing a black woman as president.

If that doesn’t work, you can just say she’s Italian.

Just ask him straight up. Does he prefer his granddaughters grow up under another Trump administration or take a chance on the first Woman President, which if your daughters are anything like mine, is something they are extremely excited for.

I'd acknowledge the decency that has kept him from voting for Trump. Personally, it's been the line that I've drawn the past 9 years... one side is decency, the other is Trump. It sounds like he's chosen the right side of that line.

I would say that these people aren't working for Kamala, as much as they are working for America... as I also believe she is. I don't know if you're trying to change his heart and mind (if such a thing is possible), but this may be a path to that... or just a way to help him deal with his cognitive dissonance.

Again, it’s not a question of voting for Trump and he’s already going to vote for Harris. It’s just an interesting window into the mind of an old man struggling to accept a world foreign to his own. There are a lot of those people in the Trump coalition who simply can’t.

I had a dream last night that Trump did in the debate.  Kamala eviscerated him and he got so mad, he said it.

Trump's going to pull out of that debate faster than he did with Stormy Daniels.

It's going to be great when six-time bankrupt failed businessman Donald Trump loses to a black woman.

After that, I wonder if Republicans will reconsider their strategy of nominating simpleton fucking losers. Maybe next time try picking someone who's had some type of success at life other than being a reality TV game show host.

Hopefully they'll nominate him again in 28

Ideally he will be dead or in prison, but (assuming he loses this year) it would be quite hilarious if they did it again.

Think he meant to type Biden.

The best thing about Kamala’s candidacy is what it did to the “PRESIDENT/PRISON” coin hucksters.  That bullshit commercial is still running. Only half kidding.  Who would even purchase such dreck?  Who would market it?

So lately the biggest dig is that Kamala at one point dated Montel Williams.  So what you are telling me, is that of all the horrible things to do in your life, either personally or professionally, dating Montel Williams is just a bridge too far.

Meanwhile, their guy is a convicted fraudster, felon, rapist, draft dodging, abortion financing, traitor.  But that Montel Williams, just too much.

Is Montel Williams that bad?  Yeah he had a shitty tv show but who cares.  He graduated from the Naval Academy and served for ~20 years and supports vets.

This. Y’all are looking at Monetell Williams the wrong way. Yeah, there’s nothing below a woman would find attractive.

He’s an interesting set of contradictory impulses, as are we all. Especially as we age.

Slut shaming, dog whistle racism, hatred towards immigrants, and being misinformed about inflation is about all they got right now.

It would be dumb in any election. But in an election against a rapist who has had multiple (who knows how many) affairs with porn stars....

I guess it depends on how we define "from," as Obama was born in HI and spent most of his childhood there. Still pretty interesting though.

Obama would be defined as being from (IL).
