April 14Apr 14 We're about to ditch the wife's 21 Escalade for this. 6.2 with no engine/powertrain problems at all but have had multiple electrical gremlins over the years. A formal recall will smite the resale.
May 2May 2 Anyone else have this problem with 2016ish F150 flip keys? Just fixed one with a bit of wire and JB Weld, we’ll see if it holds lol I guess I wrench on the key

May 5May 5 Mine died 1 day several months ago.. more like a glitch. Rolled to a stop in a parking lot. All went dark. Opened the door and it reset. No issues dince. GMC notedvit but nothing was read on the computer??
May 5May 5 Loved my basic little 1991 4-banger S-10 with A/C & 4-speed stick. Son wrecked it in 1997.

Were you in South Austin at this time, or maybe over by Lanier? 'Cause that could pretty much be my parents' neighborhood, the one I grew up in and where they still live, at Burnet/183. Right over by Playland Skating Rink.

Yeah, it's not good - The problem was inferior metal compound used in the main bearing caps that would crack and eventually just let go. I understand there's a GM recall out for something like 800K plus vehicles with that engine and main bearing caps problem. Good luck GM......

Visit your dealer Trailer Brake Error They need to do a re-calibration of the system. I got this and my camera system quit working. Let me know if you can read this. If not, I can email it to you. I had to send this to the service guy when I went in and informed him of this issue. Saved a ton of time.

Saw a video about disconnecting the battery, letting it sit for 30+ minutes and then reattaching everything - wonder if that is essentially doing that recalibration on it's own?

May 10May 10 Since I have gotten the truck I have not noticed a regen taking place. I’ve searched the intertrons and have found varying amounts of info on the subject. Some say that the F250 will do partial regens. Some say they will only do full regens on distances of 20-30 miles on the highway. I don’t even know how much my filter is holding right now and if it even needs a regen. I saw somewhere you could take the truck in to the dealership and have them update your dash to display the filter percentage full but I don’t know if that’s accurate. At the end of the day I don’t wanna be driving along and go into limp mode because the filter is full. Are partial regens a thing? I drove kenworths for a previous employer and it was all or nothing on those things. Driving out to Grand Prairie tonight so I’ll get a regen in I’m sure. But just trying to find out more detail on what is and isn’t needed.
May 15May 15 RATS!!!! Fucking rats. Little shits chewed up the wires to the fuel injectors - causing it to run like I'm going over continuous speed bumps and shake when idling. Also cause it to throw all those error warnings, etc. I'm taking up falconry and declaring a Jihad on those little fukers.

The onboard ECU should trigger the regen, but looks like there's a parked regen that you can start manually. I'd bet you could trigger it by Forscan, but not certain.

In 290k miles I only limped it due to DPF once, and that was after it went out (no longer receiving correct voltage to fire off) and it was after I towed our camper across the state and back. Even then the limp wasn't that bad. It would slowly build power but i could feather it up to 60+ mph (trying to get on highway to force a regen before I figured out the issue). That truck was not DEF so I don't know how that affects the process. I will say with my Ford, I will sometimes go 3 months without needed to add DEF, and sometimes it seems like I'm filling up every few weeks. No change in driving or towing. Not going to try real hard to figure it out as when it breaks, it'll get deleted.

Tell me if this passes the smell test: Toyota of Plano So it was a cool grand to fix the wiring harness for the fuel injectors. I paid it. The only other item on the work order was a coolant hose they suggested be replaced. Two things on the work order. Pick up the truck, no error codes, seems fine. The NEXT day the check engine light comes back on so I take it to have the codes checked: P2401 P043E P043F P2402 P2419 All tied to the EVAP system. Replacing the leak detection pump module. The dealership also replaced the fuel pump (recall). I take it back to them and my point being you did all this work with the fuel system, now the EVAP codes are throwing, did the tech mess anything up when installing both new items? Their story is the codes were throwing at the original servicing inspection, but they "forgot" to include the work in the work order and now want another $1,300 for the EVAP system. The timing doesn't add up to me, and I have NEVER had a dealership just forget to add any and everything the vehicle should have work done on. I called corporate, told them my story, dealership called back and still claimed it was an oversight, and offered to shave a few hundred off the bill. From what I have read it's not uncommon when dealing with the fuel system that the sensitive EVAP system can be damaged. Any truth to this? So are my options to get a second opinion? How could they determine if installation issues cause the EVAP failure, or am I the one in a million customer they just forgot to add an expensive solution to the work order?
June 20Jun 20 Toyota's EVAP system on my wife's 2001 4Runner was convoluted at best. They were located atop the fuel tank, so I would absolutely believe changing the fuel pump could have EASILY caused that. But, from other experiences: I would grab a wiring diagram for your model year, and see if there's a specific pigtail that runs to the EVAP systems noted in the codes, and double check it's seated correctly. If we're talking a Tundra, I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled the bed to replace the fuel pump rather than dropping the tank, and there's a likelihood they disconnected some of the wiring to get it done, and left it partially connected.

July 20Jul 20 mexican garages in the mexican neighborhoods, are damn masters of truck repairs. you find a good garage and they're taking care of you for life

More than a few peers in you’d see mechanics in serious work mode with parts and tools strewn about. Normal enough except most doors open to impeccable gardens or artist studios or chicken grilling on a veritcal spit for cheap tacos. I’d have no issue going to one of those guys tho, shit any of them, mechanic, artist or taco master.
July 26Jul 26 Bought new tires. Nitto. Here’s the reason I bought new tires. Also….avoiding death wobble.
July 26Jul 26 Is there something nitto has in thier rubber technology that prevents death wobble. Its all been bad steering geometry and worn suspension components that have caused that, in my experience.

July 27Jul 27 Also what’s the feedback on new tundras? Thinking about swapping my Sierra for one. Are they up to typical Toyota standards? See a few issues noted online but wondering what the real story is.
July 27Jul 27 All y'uns w/unrusted, 20 yo, Texas pickups can kick rocks. Anything north if I70 would be a washing machine by now.

Gotta have something positive to make up for the 11 months of summer and endless droughts and/or deadly floods... Anyway, we put Nitto Ridge Grapplers on our Jeep and I'm loving them so far.
November 6Nov 6 So the mighty TRX is returning. And very well may see a redeye tuned version. So I now have to debate going back to Ram (the interior I loved, the straight line power was exhilarating but utterly useless for a truck) or sticking with the Raptor (which is far more nimble and behaves like an off-road truck should). if I really wanted the power, I could drop a whipple in for $15k and I’m sure exceed the TRX by a hefty margin, but void my warranty. Can't you drop in a Ford Racing SC and tune and keep it under warranty? I remember back in the day, there were certain parts you could drop into the stang and they'd do the tune for you and still honor your warranty. Roush Racing, Ford Racing, etc.

Just saw they've extended the recall to 2024 models, so they still haven't fixed the underlying issues causing the engine failures. They claim it's machining debris left inside the blocks damaging crankshaft bearings, but it seems like adding an extra QC step could have fixed that by now.

December 1Dec 1 Looking for running boards for silverado zr2. Anyone ever bought some from Amazon? Are they worth it? Or should I get some aftermarket ones from rough country?
December 1Dec 1 I don't buy automotive parts regardless the category via Amazon. I've had too many issues with counterfeits, bad fit/alignment and electronics that are shit out the box, YMMV.
December 3Dec 3 I have a rough country hard tri fold tonneau cover and it’s awesome. If that helps with the brand question.
