Holy Shit. I hope Costner pulls this off: Horizon: An American Saga

4 Part Movie series.  Looks god damn beautiful.

"I'd just like to have a drink tonight with someone who knows how to act."

Costner: "Well you came to the wrong movie ma'am."

ZING!

Another Western to fill the void until another baseball movie comes along.  Looks good, though.

it's like someone asked ai to create a kevin costner movie based on all his past movies and tv shows.

also 4 parts?  no wonder he's too tired to keep doing yellowstone.  sheesh.

Fuck yall, Costner is badass

Never forget he got cut from Call St Fullertons baseball team by Augie back in the day

His look at the end of Fandango is the best 10 seconds of acting ive ever seen. Not kidding

Hey I'm a fan.  I actually even like him as Robin Hood, which seems to be an unpopular opinion.

Alan Rickman’s overacting is what makes that movie work.  And Morgan Freeman.

Fuck me. He cleared it!

That dialogue and editing is straight from a late 90s made for TV movie

Looks like a bloated epic. I think the trailer would have been better with KEVIN COSTNER written in a larger font to open it and close it.

At least he's keeping the score tastefully restrained.

I like that in a good defensive coordinator.

I’ll watch this Costner stuff.  He better find a spot for Kicking Bird…

Read that in your avatar’s voice.

Supposedly, Rickman crushed it so hard in some scenes, the studio decided to delete them from the final cut to protect their golden boy leading man from being upstaged. Test audiences walked away calling it a Rickman movie. The director was so mad about this, the studio had to lock him out of the edit suite to finish the movie.

In Costner's defense, he was on the set of Robin Hood in England just days after wrapping up a years long passion project in Dances With Wolves. It was a fast shoot that saw Costner in New Orleans just ten weeks later to start filming JFK. Robin Hood's production was a tiny blip sandwiched between two of the biggest projects of his career.

In.

Please don't suck.

Also, why does Costner insist on talking like that?

I love Kevin Costner the actor.

But Kevin Costner - writer, executive producer, and director - does not give me a lot of confidence. But I hope I'm wrong.

I rather Costner make another baseball/sport genere film.

Trailer 2. They calmed down on the epic music.

The scenery is wonderful.  Hopefully it's not too big of a story to pull off

Saw it got a "long ovation" at Cannes but also saw that critics weren't that impressed. SOOOO...it is prob good. hahah.

I was like 6 when that came out and it's impossible for me to view it through any other lens than the first grader who was having their fucking mind blown.

we'll probably see it anyway. if they liked it at Cannes it should be redeemable. i'm a sucker for western cinematography, it still looks beautiful.

It’s tracking to open at $10M. That’s so terrible, the production company had to be considering just shelving it and writing off the loss.

Cost $100M to make, $38M was Costner’s own money. This is supposed to be the first of four. Lot of people are going to lose a lot of money.

We’re planning to see it tomorrow because it’s hot AF and you can only spend so much time in the pool.

It’s up to us, we few Americans to save the Western. They don’t do well internationally anymore. Godspeed Lt. Dunbar, but I think he’s taking a L.

I saw the first part tonight. It had my attention start to finish and it did not feel like three hours. I like how they are piecing together different storylines in this. The musical score was really cool as well. For the short attention span folks you will just be mad at having to sit through three hours, but for those that can do it you’ll like it. The differing scenery of each place was wonderful and I can’t wait for part two in August. They left the story in a really good spot and there are so many interesting characters and subplots going on.

I do not care what critics think, good or bad. This is an epic western and man this hits the spot. I am impressed by how immense this is and all of the stories they are telling. So many actors that I like in this.

I have a suspicion it will over-perform.  I think they’ve been trying to market to the evangelical/fly-over ticket buyers that maybe aren’t getting picked up by the tracking surveys.

Saw it today. Really good, but very complex. I need to see it again before the next one comes out to get everything.
