Off season moves weren't spectacular, but could really be good if Sale can stay healthy and Kelenic lives up to his prospect ranking.  Even if they both tank, we should still be one of the top 3 teams in the league. The Dodgers will be tough, but this will be the year to beat them with Otahni only hitting and not contributing to their pitching staff.

Gonna need someone else to take care of the Phillies or we know how this story ends.

Luckily we have two good catchers and Tromp is a very solid #3.

Always nice to start the season by deep dicking the phillies in b2b games

nice first outing from chris sale: 5.1ip, 2er, 5h, 7k, 2bb.  if he can be good (and healthy( this year then the braves will have a very formidable top 3 in the rotation.

I think something might be wrong with Fried too. Guess we’ll see if he bounces back today, but he’s completely lost his command in the spring and the first start this year. His velocity is still good, so at least there’s that.

The Braves announced that infielder Ozzie Albies has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a right great toe fracture. Infielder David Fletcher has been selected to take his place on the roster. Atlanta had a couple of vacancies on its 40-man roster and won’t need to make a corresponding move in that regard.

Albies was hit on the toe by a pitch in the second inning of last night’s game against the Astros. He stayed in the game and played the rest of it, but it appears that some post-game testing revealed a fracture. The fact that he didn’t immediately leave the contest perhaps suggests it will be a brief stint on the IL, but the club hasn’t yet provided any estimates of that nature.

For however long he’s out, it will be a blow the club. Albies has been a consistently strong hitter and was out to a hot start this year. He’s hit .273/.326/.479 in his career but currently sits on a robust slash of .317/.386/.492 in 2024.

Best record in baseball and feels like the team is barely patched together with bandaids.

Can you say "joy"?

well if the strider injury wasn't enough to pretty much give up on the season, acuna tearing his acl certainly is.

I was at the game today (and previous 2 losses in Pittsburgh). Was hoping it was just him over-reacting like he normally does, but guess not.
We have to go out and get an OF. The Kelenic/Duvall duo were already not cutting it and now they’ll be our corner OFers??  I think we’ll be OK on the pitching side of things as long as nobody else goes down.

Chris Sale pitching like a Cy Young candidate has certainly helped out on the pitching side of things without Strider.  I agree that they'll need to make a move for another outfielder.  Maybe they can find this year's version of 2021 Jorge Soler/Joc Pederson.

Hurts but they ain't dead after watching the 5th inning.

I swear! Kelenic is my new favorite Brave.

Did you watch yesterday's game?

Uh, no. Nor looked at box score. Might I should say, "Ouch!"?

Christ! That was ugly. Yeah. I'll reconsider. In truth I was thinking of his lead-off lately. Also, in truth, I change favorite player every couple weeks. 🤪

8-2 in the last 10 after the ugly 5-9 stretch.  only 6 back of philly in the loss column.  i don't expect them to catch the phils, but there is still a lot of season left.  the braves can be a probelm in any short series with fried and sale leading the rotation.

Where were we at this point in our 2021 campaign?

Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies is headed to the injured list after leaving Atlanta's 6-2 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday in the ninth inning with a left wrist injury, manager Brian Snitker said in his postgame media availability.

After the news conference, the team announced on social media that the veteran underwent X-rays that revealed a fracture. He is expected to miss about eight weeks.

"It's not good," Snitker said.

Fried also moved to IL with forearm issues.  Doesn’t sound bad, but just another road bump.

the injuries are something else this year. fuck

I gotta admit that at least it wasn't all that hard to miss games and watch Olympics.

well it's been a disappointing season due to all the injuries, but they are still in the hunt with 5 games to go.  currently trail the mets by 1 game in the wild card standings and the diamondbacks by only half a game (same number of losses).  they beat the mets last night and have two more against them, including a chris sale start.  making the playoffs would have be viewed as a semi-successful season due to all of the injury issues.  plus it'd be fun as shit to keep the mets out.

All things considered, making the playoffs would be entirely successful IMNSHO. And, yep, how fun would it be to have the Mutts at the end of the season and whupping them.

I just want to watch more MoneyMike incredibles.

Wife was walking through and she saw him take away Acuna's hit last night. She was just walking by, saw it, and exclaimed "My god!".

...and because MLB has 0 competent leadership, the end of the season is now going to be completely FUBAR'ed:

a tad frustrated they couldn't get things finished off yesterday, but the Braves are in a good spot today.  Just need to take one of two against the Mets at home.  For multiple reasons it'd be nice if they took care of business in the first game, the biggest of which behing that Chris Sale could start game one against the Padres tomorrow evening.

God damn it 4 runs in the 8th and the Mets aren’t done. Fuck MLB for this
