He looked good on the mound.  Had some fire and a little swagger.

He must be pitching awfully tight when he's started or come in early.

That situation was exactly what he needed.

I said last year he needed to be coming out of the bullpen. I know last year he was just an opener knowing he was probably only going to pitch 1 or 2 innings but it’s just a different mindset, especially for a guy you know wants to start again and who has at a high level.

Short quick outings out of the pen where he can give max effort for those 3 outs is where he needs to be. Then go from there

Weaver!

Did he hit a homerun??

Yeah, I'm just humorously cynical about our bats going cold just in time for LSU.  JT and PP will probably go 0-fer while O'Dowd goes 4-4 with 4 2-out nobody on singles.

Pickng on JOD here is unfair.  He is off to a bad start, but he had some really big hits in Miami and Stanford last year.  He has earned a longer leash this year, imo.

He's earned being a situational sub.   He's got a .342 career OBP.

No way. He’s been a below average hitter and is extremely limited defensively. Dee should be getting most of his innings.

He is getting 2B, which I'm in favor.  Jack is more suited to frst, but that of course assumes JT in CF.

The Duke transfer stepping away from the game is saving O’Dowd right now. Storm would be at 1st right now and O’Dowd would only see time as DH but even then he’s low on the pecking order.

Edit: it would have been nice to see Sanders get some run at 1st last night.

Yep. Storm, a right handed (switch hitter) bat with power, is pretty much exactly what this team is missing right now.

Jack is suited to be a platoon bench bat at best. I’d take Jake McKenzie over him at 1B right now. If those were my options

Corner infielders slugging below .400 is a just as bad. He shouldn’t be a starter on this team. Way too many young talented guys with upside to waste innings on O’Dowd

The defense is the thing here. If he's not hitting, he can't play 2B. If he's hitting he's probably close to net neutral with the lack of range at 2B.
