William Gibson's Neuromancer to be made into Apple TV series

Featured Replies

Didn’t think they could make Foundation, but they made it, so here’s hoping they pull this off.  Apple is going all in on big budget sci-if and historical dramas.  Meanwhile, WarnerBothersMaxHBODiscoveryShit will probably give us more Chip and Joanna.

But apple has a no nudity policy right? Was really looking forward to the unexpected Molly sex scene.

This can't be real

Whoa! I read this so long ago I barely remember what it’s about. But I remember it was a fun ride.

I’m adjacent to this flavor of nerd, but I’ve never read it. Will watch.

Do Snow Crash.

They would have to age up one of the main characters, otherwise it’d get real pervy.

Neuromancer will run 10 episodes; it stars Callum Turner and follows “a damaged, top-rung super-hacker named Case who is thrust into a web of digital espionage and high-stakes crime with his partner Molly (played by Briana Middleton), a razor-girl assassin with mirrored eyes aiming to pull a heist on a corporate dynasty with untold secrets,” according to an Apple press release.

The rest of the cast includes Joseph Lee, Mark Strong, Cleménce Poésy, Peter Sarsgaard, Emma Laird, Dane DeHaan, André De Shields, Max Irons, and Marc Menchaca. It’s created for TV by Graham Roland (Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, Dark Winds) and JD Dillard (Devotion, The Outsider, Sleight). Roland is the showrunner, Dillard is directing the pilot, and they’re both among the show’s executive producers.

Excited.   I found Gibson difficult to read.  Something about his writing never flowed to me.  But I did finish this one and it was cool.   I'll be watching.

I'm excited as shit about this, Apple has been killing it with the prestige sci-fi stuff.

I wish they had the rights to Star Trek.

Yeah, but then they might hire actual sci-fi authors to come up with stories/arcs instead of TV writers.
