Aroldis Chapman has officially retired 50 consecutive batters without giving up a hit.4 strikeouts in a single inning of work tonight.17 straight hitless outings. 14.2 IP over that stretch. ERA is now down to 0.98.

Right now, we have to be thankful for every positive.

3 back from Toronto. We have 1 series with them and the dodgers. Detroit or Tampa are the ones that will fuck us.

Pretty damn wild that Connelly Early struck out 11 batters tonight and had never done that once at any level in the minors. In his last start at Triple-A, he set a career-high with 10. Just a massive performance and debut when this pitching staff was starving for a boost.
Connelly Early had 19 Whiffs last night (swings-and-misses).4 on the 4SFB. 6 on the Curveball. 3 on the Changeup. 3 on the Slider. 3 on the Sinker. That’s more than any other Red Sox starter not named Garrett Crochet this season. Wild.
On the same night the Red Sox tie their win total from 2024, they tie the Yankees for the 1st WC and home-field advantage in the first round.Only 16 games remain… going to be a fascinating weekend against the Yankees

This is good shit.  Wonder if the kid in the Longhorn tshirt is related/connected to him.

All 11 of Connelly Early Ks from his MLB DEBUT

Not for nothing, but remember when I said to bring up all the kids and let them cook?

Let’s take a moment to appreciate the absurd amount of major league talent Boston’s pipeline has produced in 2025:• Kristian Campbell• Marcelo Mayer• Roman Anthony• Payton Tolle• Connelly Early• Hunter Dobbins• Jhostynxon GarciaNot to mention:• Kyle Teel, Chase…

They're going to do it - FAFO - aren't they?

Cleveland has:

  • 4 at Minnesota, who are already eliminated
  • 3 vs. Detroit, who they just swept, yet 1st place AL Central
  • 3 vs. Texas, who is basically eliminated

Boston has:

  • 3 at Tampa, who is all but eliminated
  • 3 at Toronto, 1st place AL East
  • 3 vs. Detroit, 1st place AL Central

One team is reeling, one team is on a tear.

I can't believe how hard I'm going to take not making the playoffs, after giving up on this team 4 months ago.

Losing Anthony.... Have a no shit Cy Young pitcher (yeah, I know he is second), but DAMN....

A young team. Lots of fuck ups early in the season.

But still. Fuck the Yankees.

That was a nice win last night. Fuck Toronto. Snow Yankees.

Need 3 more wins with the Astros losing a couple and we can try to set up a postseason rotation.

Looks like we can clinch a playoff spot tonight!

I need to talk more shit about how this team is going to FAFO and miss the playoffs. The reverse psychology is working!

Very cool

Jose De Leon in Game 162:6.2 IP, 8 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 8 KsWhat a cool moment for the regular season finale. The 33 year old had a 6.93 ERA in AAA. Comes up for his first big league action in over two years. Gets a big standing ovation on the way out.pic.twitter.com/sUNwS5fD6y
“This is actually my first win of the year. I went 0-9 in Triple-A, so it’s pretty cool that my first one is here. … This means the world to me.”José De León reflects on his Red Sox debut 🙌
Jose De Leon said he was going to go to the beach in Puerto Rico today. The Red Sox called yesterday, asked if he had been throwing. He lied and said yes. He took a midnight flight to Philly, a 7:30 a.m. flight to Boston, and pitched (quite well) against the Tigers today.

Love that we made the playoffs but it sucks that we won’t even win a game in them.  Zero chance of getting a win.

Bullshit. We got this.

So impressed w/ Garret Crochet.  I'm trying to think of the last pitcher we brought in that produced like him...Josh Beckett?

Cora says that Garrett Crochet told him yesterday that he was only going to call the bullpen once today and it was going to be for Aroldis Chapman.
The 117th and final pitch of Garrett Crochet's night went 100.2 mph, tied for his fastest of the season. He finished with 11 strikeouts, didn't walk anyone and exits with a 2-1 lead for the Red Sox. The first playoff start of Crochet's career was brilliant.
100 MPH painted on Pitch No. 117?Garrett Crochet is a freaking horse.

Alright, young gun (Early, 23 y/o, fifth-ever MLB appearance, 1-2, 2.33 ERA) in the biggest game of his life thus far against another young, albeit, more experienced pitcher (Schlittler, 24, 4-3 in only 14 career starts, 2.96 ERA) for the (fuck the) Yankees.

Gonna need some runs tonight.

Let's fucking do this, Sox.

Bullshit that all 3 games are played at NYY.  I'd be feeling overconfident if this game was at Fenway tonight, even w/ the rookie pitching.

Agreed. Not sure why a wild card team is awarded such an advantage. I get two of three for the higher seed, but three of three is total BS.

Win more.

Probably would have if Anthony didn't get hurt. Or if they could reliably beat the damn A's.

If I’m not mistaken you’re the first team to win game 1 of a WC series and go on to lose it. Congrats on history!

04. You really want to talk stats? History? Congrats. Pitcher was amazing

But foooooccckkkkk off. Don’t you have a Yankees thread?

I'm excited about next year.  Tons of young arms.  Casas coming back.  A full year of Anthony.  As chaotic as this year was, they figured it out and made the playoffs, and that's something to build on for sure.

Yoshida won’t be back for you guys next year right? Dude was a complete thorn all series

They'd have to trade him/dump his contract. He's signed through the 2027 season. That being said, I do not think it's likely he stays in Boston that long.

This one hurts.  Maybe my favorite underrated Red Sox player ever?

Late summer before my senior year, a couple of us make a run down to Fenway for an afternoon game before school starts.  We're on the left field line where the wall goes up to meet the Green Monster.  We all dipped at the time and had realized as we were walking in that no one had a can.  Gator is shagging flies out there and as he finishes up, he's bullshitting w/ some of the other guys, pulls out his Copenhagen and drops a lippah in.  My boy Eddie immediately shouts "Gatah!  Throw me yah can!" and goddamn if Gatah doesn't take a step or two our way and frisbee that can of cope right up to us.  We were in HEAVEN!!

Godspeed Gator - you were a real one.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Red Sox Hall of Famer Mike Greenwell.“The Gator” spent his entire career in a Red Sox uniform and was a beloved fixture of Fenway and Fort Myers. He gave so much to Lee County and Sox Nation. We send our love to the Greenwell family.

The lineup of my HS years.  Goddamn I loved that team.

Yep. OK, so what are the moves the Sox need to make this off season?

1- A true #2 starter.

2- DH?

3- And please fucking stay healthy. No stupid shit guys. (Applies to the Team and the few of us on this site.)
