Am I missing something with that Rojas catch in Philly yesterday? Didn’t seem like anything more than a good catch that I’ve seen 100 times before. People are talking about it like it was Gary Matthews Jr spiderman-ing the wall or something.

The Phillies announced Friday that they’ve released veteran infielder/outfielder Whit Merrifield and recalled fellow infielder/outfielder Weston Wilson from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Merrifield signed a one-year, $8MM contract with the Phillies in free agency this past offseason. That guarantee came in the form of a $7MM salary for the current season and at least a $1MM buyout on an $8MM club option for the 2025 campaign.

Merrifield, who has struggled to a .199/.277/.295 batting line in 174 plate appearances this season, is still owed about $3.01MM of his salary plus that $1MM buyout.

Whit for Weston.

Cole Ragans pitching like an All Star tonight against Boston. 1 run, 4 hits in 7 innings worked. KC wins 6-1. Chris Young did us a solid swapping him for Chapman.

That dude has had a better ERA with the Royals than he ever had in any minor league season.

He dominated.

I’m aware. Lots of Royals fans thought the return for Chapman was meh. Who knew a change of scenery would make this much difference. Looks like it worked out for both teams.

it’s like the old Pizza Hut buffet - they only bring out one pepperoni pizza and if you’re not first, you’re fucked

I guess only Yankees fans should be allowed to live in the past

Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Dustin May will miss the remainder of the 2024 season after undergoing surgery to repair an esophageal tear earlier this week, sources told ESPN.

May, 26, has not pitched this season following surgery last year to repair a torn flexor tendon in his right arm. He was set to go on a rehabilitation assignment in the coming weeks, but the surgery to repair his esophagus will keep him from physical activity for the next two months, according to sources. The injury, sources said, was suffered in a non-baseball setting and required intervention after May sought medical attention for pain in his throat and stomach.

Torn esophagus sounds rather painful.

Because Altuve hasn’t had to deal with any boos at all the last 4 years

How the fuck do you tear your esophagus? Hmmm...

Homie tried to choke to death and whatever got caught in his throat ripped the esophagus while he was wrenching it up. It’s incredibly rare and incredibly serious. I know a guy that did it and ended up in ICU for almost six weeks and lost 70 pounds.

@Beau Vine, you know this from the Goldy days?

Spoiler

Steve Berthiaume and his wife, Cindy Brunson, reside in the Valley.

Brunson is a play-by-play voice for Pac-12 Network's women's basketball and women's softball telecasts in addition to her role as a sideline reporter for men's football and basketball…she is also the television play-by-play voice for Texas Tech women's basketball...Brunson spent 13 years at ESPN as a "SportsCenter" anchor and women's basketball studio host.

Never knew they were married.

Saw yankee fans in instagram comments saying Dustin May tore his esophagus giving another Dodgers player a blowjob. That’s where we’re at.

I seriously think Jim Edmonds is one the stupidest people on the planet.

It's flabbergasting that the Cardinals ever put a mic in front of him.

Disappointed he didn’t get a spot start with the Mariners but still managed to increase his value for immaculate grid players this year
