August 4, 20241 yr Have to side with Beau here. The pitcher missed his spot horrendously and the catcher didn’t even try framing it. That’s on them.

That’s on them. if the umpire was lined up over the plate he would have been able to see that the ball was in the zone. he also doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt when he was terrible all game.

He’s pretty lined up on the plate. Camera angle isn’t dead on. If you look at the comments there’s a reason hardly anyone is flaming him. If you know ball you know that call isn’t on the umpire.

August 4, 20241 yr The Mariner's announcers thought maybe the ump was distracted by the runner on 3rd on one of those pitches. Even they were surprised by some of the calls.
August 5, 20241 yr I caught the ESPN Sunday statcast for the first time. (I thought ESPN2 was still doing that AROD-Kay egofest thing.) Trevor May was really interesting.

The Yankees were (literally) the worst team in baseball for almost 2 months, and you guys used that window to open up a gigantic 0.0 game lead in the standings. Congrats.
August 5, 20241 yr So the entire betting world agrees with me except whatever bet365 is? That isn’t the burn you think it is.

August 5, 20241 yr logan allen is having a terrible day. sent down to the minors for 30 days, comes back up today, gives up back to back hr to start the game, then gets absolutely nailed in the head by comebacker from randall grichuk. i can’t believe they are letting him stay in.
August 5, 20241 yr it should be 100% mandatory that any pitcher who gets hit in the head by a batted ball has to leave the game and immediately go to the hospital for tests and monitoring. this is a no-brainer, pun intended.
August 6, 20241 yr And the only good thing about the A's moving is getting rid of that fucking stadium.

August 6, 20241 yr semi-related: i wonder how good of an all-time team you could come up with using only players whose last names end in “z”? i think it’d be a pretty damn good team.

August 6, 20241 yr Maddux and Fox gonna have a hard time carrying the X’s. but for pure power, hard to top N. Ryan/Randy and Walter Johnson. And Aaron and Josh Gibson (if we’re opening up to the Negro Leagues)

You've also got four of the greatest Negro Leaguers ever: Turkey Stearns, Willie Wells, Smoky Joe Williams, and Mule Suttles. Ernie Banks would be on the bench for that team.
