Gordon Ramsay could be an interesting take on Bond and just think of what he cook up for whatever hottie he is banging at the moment.

And Villeneuve is working on the third Dune movie, which comes out in December 2026.  Plus, he has a number of other projects going on:

and has also been linked to projects in development including Cleopatra; an adaptation of Arthur C. Clarke’s classic sci-fi novel Rendezcous with Rama; and Nuclear War: A Scenario, an adaptation of the work of non-fiction by Annie Jacobsen, on which we were first to report.

So fucking in. Love that he doesn't shy away taking on iconic films/stories with very opinionated fan bases. He has elevated everything he's touched.

“Some of my earliest movie-going memories are connected to 007. I grew up watching James Bond films with my father, ever since Dr. No with Sean Connery. I’m a die-hard Bond fan. To me, he’s sacred territory,” said Villeneuve in a statement released by Amazon MGM Studios Wednesday.

“I intend to honor the tradition and open the path for many new missions to come. This is a massive responsibility, but also, incredibly exciting for me and a huge honor,” he added.

Immense talent and lifelong respect for the franchise? Yes, please.

I mean he didn't elevate bladerunner but he did a good job.

Can we get Roger Deakins back then?

And we gonna let Sheridan write it?  Not as dumb as it sounds.  Many of the best Bond film have simple, conflict-riddled plots.  ie, Taylor Sheridan.

I thought he did. 2049 is a regular rewatch for me.

Expand on this

Maybe I don't understand what y'all mean by "elevate". The original is a better movie. He did a good job staying faithful to it and putting out a really solid sequel.

Granted I think the original Balderunner is one of the best 10 or 20 films of all time.

I guess if this is your position then yeah, that makes sense. I really like the OG Blade Runner but it's not up there nearly that high for me.

I don't think liking the new one better is crazy. But it isn't like Dune where he completely blew the doors off of the Lynch version. That's all I'm getting at.

I think that's a fair assessment.

I didn't even realize Dune Messiah was coming that soon...thought he'd take 4-5 years before getting back to it, and now adding this to his plate?  I don't think we get a movie that soon.

These are his known upcoming projects, not necessarily in order after Dune: Messiah:

  • Dune: Messiah
  • Nuclear War: A Scenario
  • Bond 26
  • Cleopatra
  • Rendezvous with Rama

Rendezvous with Rama surprised me, I never really expected that IP to hit the big screen any time soon. I read some of those books as a kid.
