Oh Dud’s oh-fer still intact

… which confirms he couldn’t have been picked off second.  Advantage O’Dowd.

Just walked in the door and saw the game stats.  SP goes 8 innings and the boys are hitting again.  Pitching and defense are half of "score more runs than they do."  Hitting is the other half.

Who said the two are mutually exclusive? We scored 3 runs. In college baseball, it's tough to consistently churn out wins with anemic offense - even with good defense.

Of all the games/scores* posted in the Big 12 Baseball thread ...

Only 31% of the games could have been won with 3 runs (meaning the losing team scored 0, 1, or 2 runs; example: OU over Wright St. 20-0 counts because 3 or fewer runs still would have won).

In 69% of the games, the losing team scored at least 3 runs (requiring >3 to win).

*Quick count, so I might be off a couple in either direction.  Roughly 220 games/scores or so; sample size is probably somewhat representative of college baseball as a whole.

Okay now it is safe for Duplantier

I think Ace is going to allow this team to turn the corner and start rattling off series wins.

Will be interesting what Pierce does with Hurley. Wouldn’t mind keeping him as the midweek starter if he can build off Wednesday’s performance because this team can’t afford any midweek hiccups with the hole they’ve dug themselves in early this year.

After JT’s oppo HR just now, Baylors fat bastard of a coach walked out, took the ball from the pitcher, and with his team around him, open mouth chewed his gum without uttering a word. Catcher looked into what little of his eyes are visible before realizing it wasn’t going to be a useful meeting.

Galvan was 0-fer last night as DH so the DH position once again a bulwark for the Texas lineup

Will be interesting to see what Grubbs does tomorrow. If he gives you 5-6 solid innings then maybe you found something. The big mystery is Witt, who seemed to be looking a little better but we haven’t seen in 2 weeks.

Steinbeck-esque. I like it

Good thing that billionaire parent paid to get Whitehead a start today.

Dee has much more upside (even with the freshman mistakes) than O'Dowd on defense. O'Dowd really only has him by way of his occasional HR.

Well yea.

Absolutely love the decision to let Ace finish that game

pitching hitting and fielding.  who knew?

So a guy that goes by Ace is nicknamed Boogie.

I'd hate to see what a guy that goes by Boogie is nicknamed.

ace is hot as fuck. Hopefully he can give us a quality start next week

If my name was Asher, I'd go by Ace, Boogey or Sue.

Faggot?

Is this what happens when you throw strikes, don't walk & hit the other batters?

Ace….nice job winner winner…..

whatever this is, 20240323_160306.jpgtreat yourself!

119 pitches is a ton in your first start but I guess when you throw 85 it doesn’t strain the arm as much.

Theres ur sat starter

We all fucking hope so but at this point they’re all 1 melt down inning away from a massive demotion. We don’t have anyone with “stuff” good enough to overcome defensive miscues and weak ass run support so they’re all walking right ropes. Ace has been sharp as hell for 2 weeks though

Same amount of walks as last night.

Quality of pitches, working in/out, up/down was the difference.

Picture perfect example today of throwing 85 with command is oftentimes harder to hit than 95 with little command.
