Actually, I've decided that Oklahoma losing tonight will bump us up to Last-Four.
Book it!

Just gotta hope the selection committee agrees with Lunardi, or favors TX more than he does.

OU would have to lose. Up 8 with 3:30 left

They are going to put us in. Far too much of this media talk about what a shame it would be if Tre doesn’t play in the tournament. Plus, it would ensure eyeballs in a first round game that generally wouldn’t get many.

We've got more good wins than the rest of these bubble turds.
But then we've also got more bad losses.  hah

Texas isn't getting in without a win against aggy*.

I don’t agree with this.

Tomorrow is basically win and you’re in, lose and you’re out.

A win tomorrow doesn't guarantee a bid there's too many variables.

Yep. Bid stealers will knock us down

Maybe you are right but who really gives a shit who the last team in is?  No one is going to bitch about Texas being in over some other scrub.  I’m much more cynical than most about how these decisions are made. My personal hope is that this abortion of a season ends and we get something to be excited about for next year.

i.e. you're much more uninformed.

This isn't the 4 team CFP. They try and put the most deserving 68 in.

I think we're in. Here are all the bubble teams and Q1 wins.

Texas 7

UNC 1

Xavier 2

Indiana 4

OU 7

Baylor 5

West Virginia 6

San Diego State 3

Utah State 2

Ohio State 6

Boise State 2

Colorado State 1

You can't constantly talk about the quadrant system and then exclude Texas when they have this many Q1 wins (compared to the bubble).

Edited by Rickylovesweed

If the quadrant system matters we should absolutely be in the tournament. Not just Q1 wins but we also don't have any bad losses (I.e. Q3 and Q4 losses). Here are the number of Q3 and Q4 losses of the bubble teams.

Texas 0

UNC 1

Xavier 0

OU 1

Indiana 0

Baylor 1

West Virginia 0

San Diego State 1

Utah State 0

Ohio State 0

Boise State 2

Colorado State 2

Not only do we have the most Q1 wins of the bubble teams we also don't have any bad losses (I.e. Q3 or Q4). Several of the bubble teams have bad losses.

I just don’t think we miss the tournament even at 7-11, which is what I think we will be at the end of the season. The SEC is too strong of a conference.

The only bad part of our resume is the 6-12 SEC record but the NCAA committee has never used that to justify leaving teams out if the conference is loaded. Especially for WBB and softball in the SEC.

For example, aggy made a regional in softball with a 6-18  SEC record in 2022.

Anyone who can't see the difference between Weaver on the floor and Weaver on the bench should not comment on basketball.  I don't care what his stats are, that guy is a boost.

I know some of you may not like him but I love his energy.  You know it's got to be a positive affect on his teammates.

Who doesn’t like him? I like him, but that doesn’t mean he’ll be here another year. I will depend on who is coaching the team.

I hope he does but he certainly doesn’t have to if he doesn’t want to or the new coach doesn’t want him

i can’t imagine UNC getting in over Texas, but still, fuck that ooc schedule. way too many people here who were insisting that it was a good strategic move where we could game the system with our NET rating. fuck that. you should not be rewarded for playing a bunch of high school JV teams. that ooc schedule was an embarrassment.

Oh whatever. The ACC was fucking dogshit. Guessing that overall Texas played a much tougher schedule.

Absolutely this. I’m glad we are getting called out for that ridiculous OOC schedule.

Doesn't help that we lost to fellow bubble team Ohio State on a neutral court. That season opener could come back to haunt us Sunday night

Joe Lunardi sounded like he was on drugs after the game. He wasn’t slurring, but he kept mixing up Texas & North Carolina as subjects of his statements.

Perhaps he makes clearer statements in the written word format.

UNC getting in over Texas would be criminal.

1-12 against Q1 opponents. I don't even know how they're on the bubble.

UNC has 1 quality win all year. It's insane they're even on the bubble. They also have a Q3 loss (i.e. a bad loss).

Our resume is not only better than UNC's resume, it's a lot better.

Speaking of UNC, this Jon Rothstein interaction is beautiful.

"As of today, UNC has 1 quadrant one win. Texas has 7. I'm interested in the criteria on the overall body of work." At least people are saying this on national television.

https://www.barstoolsports.com/blog/3540736/dont-you-dare-even-think-about-telling-jon-rothstein-unc-deserves-to-be-in-the-ncaa-tournament?utm_content=buffer8288b&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer

if Clemson had UNC’s resume they wouldn’t even be considered a bubble team. UNC has no business in the tourney, and i would be shocked if the committee let them in.

also, this right here is case in point as to why we absolutely do not need to even entertain the idea of expanding the tourney. 64 was where it should have stopped. it was perfect.

The only reason would be the name and history in basketball over Texas.

Even though Texas leads all time in the series 7-1.

Joe just bumped us after Boise’s win and he still has UNC as last team in.

Was just looking at OU’s Quad 1 history and they match us, pretty much…

IMG_7843.thumb.png.8dc414b1e9a4ff0ba7acded6fcfcd63b.png

But 3 of their wins were at the start of the season, so only 4 wins since mid December or so.

We started with 5 straight “L”s, so…

…and our BPI is better. (Whatever the hell that is.)

Two indexes that have us ahead of them and we went a round further in the SEC T.

Also, we split our season series. So I ask…

HOW IS OU “IN” WHILE WE ARE A BUBBLE TEAM/ LIKELY OUT?

they beat arizona, louisville, and michigan in the non conference, while we lost to the only surefire tourney team we played (uconn) as well as our next toughest opponent, bubble team tOSU. we have one ooc win against a team ranked in kenpom’s top 117 (no.76 st.joseph’s).

I don’t really understand why non-conference wins would be valued more than conference wins.

Because schools have no control over conference scheduling compared to non-conference. JMO.

oklahoma has six conference wins vs tourney teams, we have seven. meanwhile their ooc sos and results >>> ours. they're also #38 in kenpom to our #43.

I wasn’t just referring to OU. Lunardi keeps talking about UNC’s better non-conference schedule compared to Texas.

In a perfect world, strength of schedule should be all that matters, without being parsed into two separate groups.  But, the world isn't perfect.

You can’t knock or ignore nonconf SOS in basketball but then mock schools who schedule easy in football. We took the easy road and scheduled cream puffs. That means you pretty much have to be .500 or better in conference or you risk getting left out.

Absolutely - On the same line, CDC has talked about scheduling marquee noncon games for football as a given. No bball coach at The University of Texas should be allowed to ever schedule a noncon slate like we did this year.

If Xavier or UNC get in over Texas, they should just get rid of the quadrant system.

Xavier and UNC both have 1 quadrant one win. Texas has 7. It's kind of insane to me this actually a debate. They constantly talk about "quality wins" via the quadrant system so this isn't even a debate.

There are people who don't like Chendall Weaver as a Texas basketball player?

Who are these people and what are they watching and expecting?!

Weaver is the most consistent play maker on both sides of the ball. His injury is THE injury that has us on the bubble. He would have easily been worth 2-4 more wins.

What have I missed?

Booooo!!!!

ESPN is just trying to find ways to include the more traditional basketball school!

7 vs 1 !!

Honestly I won’t be mad if they leave us out. Every year teams whine and cry about being left out for someone else, dicky v comes on and “it’s a travestyyyyy babbbyyy” about some school that missed out on being an 11 seed and getting beat the first weekend. Our coach fucking blows is the biggest issue Texas had. Maybe don’t lose to fucking South Carolina at the very least and we wouldn’t be in this situation to begin with. Q1 wins vs OOC sos arguments are fucking dumb. Who cares. Fucking win 2 more conference games and we’re not arguing about shit. I wanna go to the tourney but I’m not upset if we don’t.
