November 18, 20205 yr Author Sad news, but he had a great run. He was the Crazy Legs Hirsch of talk show hosts. The bullshit Leno and NBC put him through was repugnant. I was hoping for more Conan without Borders when he went to the 30 minute format, then the f'n pandemic hit. I'll watch his HBO show.
June 21, 20214 yr Author Last 3 shows on TBS this week. He has a live audience and live band again at the Largo Theater. I know he's moving to HBO Max, but this really is the end of an era for a TV legend.
June 21, 20214 yr Hopefully moving to HBO Max gives him more freedom and time to do more remote segments again. That’s when Conan’s at his best.
June 21, 20214 yr My DVR is still recording his shows, but I'm months behind in watching. I'll have to watch this last week or 2. The half-hour format never really was all that good, IMO. But at least it was shorter. I was hoping he'd do more of the remote stuff, like GTX mentioned.
June 22, 20214 yr I got into his podcast during the pandemic and it’s great. It’s closer to the Conan Without Borders than the normal show since it’s mostly him just riffing with a guest with no structure. He’s so ridiculously quick witted.
June 27, 20241 yr Late Night with Conan O’Brien was a weird, cutting edge late night show that took a lot of risks. It was Adult Swim before Adult Swim. I don’t think he ever would have succeeded on The Tonight Show. So many years of Leno conditioning turned it into the softball interview hour with beautiful people. Olds were never going to go for Conan being weird. Unfortunately he overcorrected at TBS, and basically became a version of Leno. Podcast is good, but it’s more of the super nice guy with a character study spin to it.
