He's no $95 million closer, but he's doing ok.

I appreciate that David Robertson has an absolutely lousy poker face

I caught that live too.  Love it.  Competitor.

Feel like the team is scuffling along but someway, somehow we’re 12-11 and still in first. Picked up 2 games on the Astros on the tough 10 game road trip. And all while Jung is on the DL and the Carter/ Langford/Seager trio haven’t really started hitting yet. Plus, pitching reinforcements on the way. Every game we play where we remain in first and stay at or above .500 is nothing but positive news.

My season win prediction was predicated on 40 first half wins and then 50 second half after pitching gets right, so hovering around .500 was the expectation. But pitching has been better than expected for the most part (and exactly as expected for one particular relief pitcher) so the offense underperforming feels like it’s cost the team some wins.

His SO% is 23%, continuing his trend of it dropping every year. Small sample still, but it was 27% last year and 2022.

His chase rate is higher though so far this year.

that's been encouraging.  look at his walk rate though, 6.3% compared to 10.3% last year.  ouch.  in 21 and 22 his walk rates were 5.1% and 6.1% and we were saying that's what he needed to change to become more consistent.

The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has agreed to terms with RHP Johnny Cueto on a minor league contract. He is expected to report initially to the club's complex in Surprise, Arizona.

Decent in ‘22, real bad last year.

Long way from mattering, but little Josh may be our 9th starter over Wyatt when big Josh gets back.

Josh Smith has impressed me thus far this season.

Being former season ticket OKC fan, hard not to like LAC with Westbrook Hardin and George.

Caught some of the game on my drive home last night. They were talking about Wyatt possibly having the most outside of the zone pitches called strikes in MLB. He's obviously struggling but this isn't helping.

Langford entered the day, according to MLB Statcast, with 17 called strikes that were out of the zone. Here's a pretty picture of what they looked like. He had more of those than anybody in the majors:

Last night sucked. But when things go poorly I remind myself of last season, that always makes me smile. And sometimes I read the current page of the Astros thread.  They need to show some life though because resignation is already creeping in, with talk of a throwaway developmental season to prepare for another real run next season!
