August 31, 20241 yr Um, they are interviewing Turner in his ear WHILE HE IS PLAYING 1st. HOW IS THAT ACCEPTABLE?!? Edited August 31, 20241 yr by Biff Tannen 2nd, 1st, whatever it takes
September 1, 20241 yr Author Up 4-1, still found a way to lose. Cal had a nice unassisted double play in the 8th.

September 6, 20241 yr Author Well, I'm in St Louis for this series. Look for me in a cheap imitation jersey my wife got on Temu that says "Julioooo".

September 8, 20241 yr Author That was a shitty way for the offense to reward Logan for a great start. But I met Rick Rizzs at brunch this morning. Super nice guy with some good stories.
September 15, 20241 yr I'm part of the opening pitch posse tomorrow for Hispanic Heritage Day, so I'll be on the field pregame.
September 15, 20241 yr Author Here are some pictures from St. Louis. View from the press box. If you ever get a chance to take a stadium tour, do it. Off-days are best, because there aren't as many off-limit locations. We got to go in the dugout, too. View from the upper deck. Good day for baseball. Rando catcher warming up in the bullpen. We were part of a tour group, and the tour included brunch with "Mariners personnel." I figured it would be a batboy; my wife was hoping for Danny Wilson or Cal. Instead, this guy walked in and entertained us for an hour with some great stories. And he was kind enough to sign autographs for everyone and take as many pictures as people wanted. This couple happened to wear the right jerseys. At Sunday's game, we were in the 703 club, which is like a suite level, with all you can eat and drink inside a lounge area, and a few rows of seats outdoors under the upper decks. Between innings, Randy Arozarena would warm up, then look for M's fans to toss the ball to. My wife got his attention - she had an M's jersey on, and her glove - so he threw her a ball. It was off the mark just enough, and it fell to the lower seats. I could tell he wanted to make that throw, so next inning he found her at her perch, and threw a perfect strike, which she caught! It was an amazing throw, and a great catch. Here they are waving to each other - mutual respect - plus a random horns up.
September 18, 20241 yr Welp. It appears this is probably where it ends. It was an…interesting year. Kinda.
September 18, 20241 yr Author Well, we'll always have .... what will we have? The first part of the season? JP and Julio missing a bunch of time? Randy (is he coming back next year)?
September 28, 20241 yr Author Dumb question: why has KC already clinched, when technically the M's can tie them?

September 28, 20241 yr Author Thanks, that's what I figured. But none of the articles I skimmed mentioned that. Also, I can still taste whiskey in my mouth this morning.
November 6, 20241 yr Author I didn't know we had a hitting coach, much less an assistant to the hitting coach.

November 26, 20241 yr Quote The Mariners plan to hire Kevin Seitzer as hitting coach, reports Daniel Kramer of MLB.com. Edgar Martinez, who finished last season in that capacity, will remain with the M’s in an overarching role. Kramer writes that Seitzer will report to Martinez, so it seems the franchise icon is still the team’s lead hitting voice. Martinez is not expected to regularly travel with the team on road trips, though he’ll be involved at Spring Training and during the majority of the club’s home games. Adam Jude of the Seattle Times tweets that Martinez’s official title will be senior director of hitting strategy. Additionally, Kramer reports that the M’s are hiring Bobby Magallanes as assistant hitting coach. The 55-year-old spent the last four seasons working under Seitzer as an assistant hitting coach with the Braves. Seitzer brings two decades of hitting coach experience to Dan Wilson’s staff. He’d worked in that capacity with the Diamondbacks, Royals and Blue Jays before being hired by the Braves during the 2014-15 offseason. Seitzer spent 10 seasons as Atlanta’s hitting coach. The Braves have been contenders for most of that stretch. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/11/mariners-to-hire-kevin-seitzer-as-hitting-coach.html
