Pretty perfect game to take a three year old to. Was over before he got too bored and got to see a couple homers. Thanks @UTPhil2006 for the suggestion about the first game certificate, had plenty of

I’m just glad I survived another season of being the official thread starter. Thank you all for your continued support in this emotional time.   In more ways than one with tonight’s result:

The only positive I can find lately is that Abreu has had so many AB's that when he goes 0-4 it doesn't really drop his average that much.

Accurate.  They have 27 games left until the All-Star break and if they don’t go at least 16-11 over that stretch then they will likely be so far out of contention that they will be stupid not to sell.

We are a stupid organization now, so I fully expect them to hold and tell us how the back of the baseball card shows that we will turn it around.

On 790, Joe Espada says there is a timetable for Abreu but they are keeping it internal. Not breaking news but maybe the first time I’ve heard someone with the team say it.

Just want to point out the absurdity of this whole situation where our official team account is pimping the backup 1B for the All-Star Game.

Anyone willing to run the Astros record with and without Abreu this season?

If I read Baseball Reference correctly, the Astros are 19-19 when Abreu doesn’t start. 12-19 when Abreu is in the starting lineup.

We were 15-10 from 4/30-5/26 when he was in Florida.  Quick math tells me that would make us 12 games under .500 when he's on the roster.

Yeah that deadline is Oct 3rd 2025 when we miss next seasons playoffs and his contract runs out

Astros have a 33.6% chance to make the postseason, via Wild Card at the moment. Does this seem fair?

No. Luhnow was fired because the Los Angeles #Dodgers organization was directly involved in the investigation and punishment process. They were in Rob Manfred’s ear the entire time. They demanded that Jim Crane fire front office personnel. Crane, out of embarrassment, obliged. https://t.co/6lyU9Aoq5F

"We've given Abreu time to put some things together. Let's evaluate it & at some point soon, we're up against time & need to get things moving." More from Astros GM Dana Brown on Jose Abreu@SeanUnfiltered @SportsTalk790
"We're consistently having conversations about making a tough decision." -Astros GM Dana Brown talking about Jose Abreu and being up against time with his struggles. He's on with us right now on @SportsTalk790 @SeanUnfiltered
"We're having conversations. We know he's struggling. There's a human element that people don't realize. At some point, as Joe mentioned, there's a timeline. We'll do what's best for the team" - Astros GM Dana Brown on Jose Abreu struggles@SportsTalk790 @SeanUnfiltered
"I really think we're right on the cusp of turning this thing around." -Astros GM Dana Brown on with @SeanUnfiltered & myself on @SportsTalk790
"I don't foresee this thing falling apart for us, I really don't. Ultimately, we have some guys that can get this thing done. We're gonna turn it around." - Astros GM Dana Brown@SportsTalk790 @SeanUnfiltered
"I'm always in the market for pitching as I've said. If there's a bat that's available that makes sense for us, we'll entertain it." -Astros GM Dana Brown on adding pieces as we get closer to the trade deadline.@SeanUnfiltered @SportsTalk790
"We've already started to have discussions on making some trades. I can't talk about it on-air but we've already had discussions. We'll do whatever we need to do to get this club over the hump." - Astros GM Dana Brown with us on @SportsTalk790 @SeanUnfiltered
One thing that Astros GM Dana Brown mentioned about the trade deadline is players with "several years of control". Brown also mentioned that "rentals" may not make sense and would be more difficult to trade for. We just wrapped up with him on @SportsTalk790.@SeanUnfiltered

Dana Brown is a clown.

Crane needs to go hat in hand to Luhnow, apologize publicly, make him a massive guaranteed contract, and turn over all baseball decisions to him.

We were a smart org under Luhnow.  Now we are a dumb org.

It had to be done, but I do feel bad for Jose.  Unlike most big free agency busts, his effort was never in question.  Dude just didn't have it anymore.

On top of that, he seems like a really good dude based on his interactions with several fans. Hate to see it, but Father Time is undefeated.

Hopefully they go on another run like the last time they got rid of Albatross Abreu.
