Pretty perfect game to take a three year old to. Was over before he got too bored and got to see a couple homers. Thanks @UTPhil2006 for the suggestion about the first game certificate, had plenty of

I’m just glad I survived another season of being the official thread starter. Thank you all for your continued support in this emotional time.   In more ways than one with tonight’s result:

Things that will definitely happen this year:

Astros win 100+ games

The thread enjoys the fact that most lineup decisions are defensible and make sense

LMJ pitches more than 20 innings

Garcia pitches more than 40 innings

Yordan wins an MVP

Bregman has a monster year

Hunter Brown takes a huge step forward

Javier goes back to being good at baseball

The lineup scores somewhere between 850 and 900 runs

The pitching staff gives up less than 700 runs

2 Astros receive CY Young votes and neither one is JV

Forest Whitley throws his first pitch in the major leagues

Jake Meyers is passable at the plate- hits 9th- everyone bitches about him (ops+ of 95)

Jeremy Pena hits a home run sometime in the second half of the season- unlike last year

Yainer has an 850 or so OPS and is worth 3.5 or 4 wins

Maldonado is released. Someone on here suggests we bring him back to work with the pitchers- I establish a rock solid alibi and then hunt them down and stab them in the neck

We do nothing particularly exciting at the deadline

Bryan Abreu has an ERA slightly less than 18 and he's still capable of getting major league hitters out

We go into the playoffs as the betting line favorites to win the AL.

JP France, Ronel Blanco and Brandon Bielak have a combined era between 4.25-4.75 and a winning record overall.  People still fret about how we need more pitching b/c a couple guys sort of suck.

Thank you for doing this. And getting in on page 1.

Day 1 predictions are always a blast to come back and read in September when we’ve clinched with ~2 guys in the lineup hardly anyone had heard of at the beginning of the season and 2 pitchers no one expected to do much

I’ll have to meet you for a happy hour before a game in the first half of the season then. Will provide GPS coordinates within a tank of gas (there and back) from the stadium that will never be found.

Why is the roof closed?!

73 degrees at first pitch. Sunny. No wind.

(it wouldn’t be surly if we weren’t bitching about something even before the games begin)

Speaking of. How many innings before we start bitching about the season being over? 1? 3?

For sure after the first or third week

brutal schedule out of the gate when our SP is less than ideal

What’s our longest win streak to start the season ?

Yordan 69 dingers

Blanco Cy Young

Bregman MVP

103 Wins

7,8,9 hitters will return to 2017 form

Is the MLB game of the week (ie Astros today) stuck under local blackout restrictions?

You mean the MLB.tv free game of the day?

Yes, it’s still subject to blackout rules.

If we don’t score inning one fire the hitting coach.

With extreme prejudice.

Blummer with the orange jacket in the booth!

Good 1st pitch, going to be a great season

Yordan bomb coming up.

I don't remember framber pitching from the left corner of the rubber, but maybe I'm just old and forgetful.

112.3 mph if that's any good

I live nearly 300 miles away from Houston and subject to the blackout.  What bullshit.

Damn, didn't miss that by much

I hoped we were going to be done with the Abreu batting 5th experience
