Keep that L10 at 7-3 or better.

Gotta win the next 2 to keep it there.

we dipped to 6-4 after the Sunday loss in Minnesota but that’s the only we’ve been below 7-3 L10 since summer solstice.

Send down Chas

You can only have 13 pitchers on the roster.

No shit man, brown and staff have made some damn nice BP pick ups. Other teams would kill for that kind of production from guys off the street

Alvarez needs to opt out and since Tucker has only 1 leg, he should be replaced as well.

id also like to see blanco skip his start on Sunday. Get extended rest and be ready for game 1 vs mariners

You want to feed him his bottle and change his diaper too?

Skipping starts of healthy starters isn't a luxury they have right now.

This kind of tweet is the GM trying to write some fan fiction. Not saying Astros aren’t in market/having conversations but a list of 10 people being “talked to” is silly.

When the other teams look at the Astros farm system they hang up the phone.

I actually think the Astros farm is reasonably well regarded amongst the teams and @Snake Diggity and @Wulaw Horn would likely echo that.  It lacks the kind of well scouted, high end talent that tends to be an easy lay for Baseball America and their ilk, but teams have their own internal evaluations and there’s definitely major leaguers currently developing.

Despite Luhnow’s absence, for example, they appear to be doing a pretty good job of developing the late arriving but solid big leaguers (at least for a few years) that was kind of the hallmark of those central division winning Cardinal teams.  I think we tend to downplay the value of that because we’ve had studs like Correa, Springer, Bregman, and McCullars that were all top 50 prospects before they hit the majors and default into it’s the only way to do it.

What might be more problematic is that we just don’t have any depth at all to deal from, which is why people like @Wulaw Horn pushed adding free agents in the off-season and making an outfielder or two superfluous.  Our willingness to spend is potentially the last thing we have available to trade away.

Also, Bowden sucks and no legitimate GM would ever tell him anything of merit.

Alonso's numbers aren't a whole lot better than Singleton's this year. He's a free agent after this year and his current contract is for 20.5 million this year.

Which means the prospect price would be minimum, and only a idoit would think Alonso and Singleton are anywhere in the same ballpark as players. Just remember the two prospects we gave the Mets for Verlander and millions of dollars have collasped due to either injuries and/or high velocity pitches.

Loperfido and Montero for Alonso would be something I would expect given the parameters.

Career sure, but this year it's not a huge amount.  Pete's not having a very good year. He hits home runs and not much else.  He's better than what the Astros have run out at 1st base this year, but they also might be able to do better.

He's 22% better than Singleton this year. That's a significant gap.

That's 22% better than a guy who shouldn't be a major league first basemen.  The bar has been set real low.

He's 30.  His arm is in better shape than the usual rookie pitcher.

It’s still the bar.

If they end up with him because they can't trade for anyone better, that's fine.  But they should look for someone better first and not be targeting him from the start.  The last guy Bagwell thought should play first base didn't work out so well.

I'd be in the "fuck that" category.  Loperfido is worth more than that to the Astros IMO.  If he was real Alonso right now it would be higher, but he's not.  And he's a FA after this year
