Pretty perfect game to take a three year old to. Was over before he got too bored and got to see a couple homers. Thanks @UTPhil2006 for the suggestion about the first game certificate, had plenty of

What's AJ Hinch's career playoff road record?

Whatever it is, it just got better. :(

Still like our chances.

Hinch continues to do the most with the least. Probably the best manager in baseball

Makes me sad to see him on the other side.

Astros still suck at home in the postseason.

We should have requested a series in Detroit. Not kidding. If we somehow pull this off I’m glad Cleveland has home field next round

bold move starting skubal

bats need to come out hot tomorrow

Breggy's ball was a foot short a few innings ago and that last ball was waffle crushed.  Not our day.

But they have to start a mortal tomorrow.  I think we'll get it to a third game.

I hate losing, even in spring training. But with the way this game was going, I have to feel decent about it overall. Bats woke up and sustained a rally long enough for one swing to have produced a miracle win. Didn't happen, due to bad luck on that liner, but we finally showed a pulse. If we can't take the next two from a young team, that's just how it goes.

you needed a hold the top of the 9th to have a chance in the bottom half. who you throwing and giving that responsibility to ?

hader is the by the book move at this point of the season. if he blows it, you can’t second guess yourself. you put it in your best closer’s hands.  roll out presley and and you wonder if hader would have held the game and so on ….

if this was game 122, yeah bring in presley, ort or montero lol

Remember that if Pressly is closing out game 3.

it’s the playoffs, every game is a game 7

i don’t see hader telling espada he can’t go game 3, if needed

kecoochie or brown tomorrow, i’d stack them back to back

Joe Espada also adds:"if I have to use Kikuchi tomorrow, I will use Kikuchi tomorrow, if not, he's your game 3 starter"

Stop It Michael Jordan GIF

For the infinitemillionth time, managers don't determine wins and losses. It's all about the players, always. The rest is just leftover space for internet warriors to bitch about managers that lose and pussy pedestal those that win.

Not a great feeling about this series. Yordan is dinged at the absolute worse time and Skubal almost certainly appears on Thursday.

he didn’t look good on that double

he should just home runs tomorrow

False. If you start Martin Maldonado instead of yainer Diaz, or Dubon when Chas was a borderline all star then you have a lot to do with who won or lost.
I would not  have brought Hader in for the 9th but it made sense in this context. Espada didn’t do anything to lose us this game.

Ha. Skubal isn’t pitching on Thursday man. If he does like an inning (he ain’t pitching)

They are playing with house money and have greatly exceeded expectations.  They could steal a three game series, but they are not built for the postseason at all.

There is no way that they are going to risk a Cy Young winner with two more years of team control on less than two days rest after throwing 90 pitches for a chance to be eliminated in the ALDS.

good for yuli, he’s had a damn great career. future hall of famer for sure (not retired number)

88 post season hits, just unreal man …

Yuli Gurriel reached 88 postseason hits, tying David Ortiz for 12th all-time.

Tigers are going with left-handed reliever Tyler Horton for their starter tomorrow. It'll be a bullpen game for them. Hunter Brown on the mound for Houston.

My comment re: Hinch was ill-timed.  This is not a moment for doubt and disunion.  There will be time for reflection and over analysis (and more over analysis as is the Surly way) when the season’s ended.  In the meantime, all the positive mojo we can muster must be brought to bear to get a win tomorrow.  It ain’t over ‘til it’s over….and it ain’t over.

Alex Bregman: "I'd say I feel like this team has been fighting elimination all year. We were 10 games back, so we know how to play with our back against the wall. You flush today and come back tomorrow ready to go, ready to compete, and leave it all out on the field."
