What a fucking god damn great movie.

We used to make movies like this. What happened?

Bernie Mac was a fuckin treasure.

Thought it was cruel to make Sammy drive the trash truck.

Never seen any of them. You watch one heist movie you’ve seen them all.

You're actually fucking retarded. Go watch Ocean's 11. Jesus Christ.

The original had the better ending

But in all other ways, inferior. Just an excuse for the rat pack to be paid to be together on a movie set.

But yeah. Fantastic ending.

Well… he’s buried like treasure now.

The Clooney-Pitt chemistry in this movie is butter smooth.  The supporting cast are all fantastic in their parts, especially Mac, Reiner and Garcia.

Did rusty purposefully deal Danny the 4 9s?  Loved the movie

Of course he did, so Danny could make a little money off the spoiled brats.

Movies have always largely sucked. It's what makes the good ones so special.

I think with shows now that can build over multiple seasons movies seem even worse, comparatively speaking.  That gap is what really highlights it.
Movies did always suck - they never sucked compared to shows you could watch at home.  Not as I grew up anyway.

I get what you're saying, but I think you're mistaken about your past. Don't know your exact age, but as an example, the year 1977 saw Roots on TV and movie releases that year included Empire of the Ants and Satan's Cheerleaders. The prestige factor has shifted back and forth between the two mediums over the decades.  Both have a long history of providing both really, really good and really, really bad. The Golden Raspberry Awards have been around since 1981.  Perspective is also crucial. 1977 had Close Encounters, Slap Shot, and Star Wars. But my perspective at the time was that there was nothing better on TV or at the movies than The Bad News Bears Breaking Training. I've learned to accept my wrongness as my perspective changed.

Well I was born in '79 so I'm sure you can match up what TV I grew up with vs movies and it was movies by a landslide.  Forget I'm actually not old af compared to most around here...unlike other places on the interwebz.

I would definitely say there was a shift in TV land post-Sopranos where multi year episodic shows became high prestige TV.  Prior to that, it was generally miniseries that had the big names and big issues. The long arc of a Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones didn't really exist. At best, you might get a multi-episode storyline that often was centered around a season ending cliffhanger. Then back to the unrelated weekly story once wrapped up.

It’s like you’re in my brain.  Those 2 shows are exactly what I’m referencing in my head.  GoT fell off a cliff but at its peak it was brilliant.

Edit: also put oceans 11 on last night in background.  It’s still great.  Did make me feel old though.

The original is better than all of the remakes.

I love the original because it’s like a Time Machine going back to 1960’s Las Vegas. So easy to rob those casinos back then. And, knock out a whole city’s power. The ending was classic. Eee O Eleven!
