The original village of Waterloo was established on the north bank of the Colorado River near where the Congess bridge is.

Barton Springs is a set of 4 natural springs.

That's not a refreshing spring mist near the Congress bat bridge.

Built in 1893, the Austin Dam was one of the largest in the world at the time.

The moon towers were built to be powered by the dam's electricity.

The dam collapsed in 1900 forever removing Lake McDonald from the maps.

The dam was finally rebuilt in 1940 as the Tom Miller Dam.

Lady Bird did not want the lake named after her.

A letter from Sam Houston found in 2011 puts him at the farm house in 1841 attending a wedding.

Both structures have similar floor plans and are built in the Greek Revival style.

For a relic that remains from the year Austin was established, the Oakwood Cemetery was one of the first deeds given to Austin by the Republic of Texas Congress in 1839.

That same year, the Texas Congress also reserved 40 acres in Austin for a University of the first class.

Famous frontiersman Bigfoot Wallace helped build some of the original structures for Austin.

Included is Austin's first well at Congress & 5th that he dug 19' down not knowing where the water table was.
