July 31, 20241 yr it may be an odd way that non-nuclear WW3 ends up kicking off where a fuckload of the combatants arent fighting in a coalition, instead they are kicking off against their old enemies. Israel v Iran. Israel v Syria. Azerbajian v Armenia & Iran Turkey v Iran & Syria Pakistan v Iran India v Pakistan China v India Ukr v Russia Poland v Russia Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Finland v Russia and thats not including Greece and Turkey popping off against each other again, nor does it include the US... which would obviously be dealing with Russia due to article 5 even if Russia didnt initiate the attacks.

July 31, 20241 yr More and more indicators that the hit on Hamas’ leader was carried out by an F-35 although we will likely not get full confirmation anytime soon. A reminder that Iran has invested heavily in air defense and operates S-300s. My penis can only get so erect that our gear can be this lethal and unstoppable against a hugely high value target and a nation that’s invested in stopping us.

August 1, 20241 yr I think that the chances of Iran allowing their retaliation to be direct and lead to war are quite low. One of the salutary effects of these types of things is to hammer home to Iran and the proxies it protects just how shitty Iran is at war and security. It’s clear that Iran is woefully compromised by Mossad intelligence and very likely that it can’t even minimally protect its airspace. The recent strikes on Yemen’s ports are in any case a powerful reminder of Israel’s long range strike capability is, regardless of how a munition got delivered to the window of the Ayatollah’s most honored guest. The Iranian regime is not irrational or suicidal. One of the primary benefits of using the Houthis and Hamas and Hezbollah against Israel is to direct these exquisite capabilities against targets that are invulnerable to them because they are worthless. These little petty rulers of wastelands have nothing of value to attack, just an endless supply of angry young men ready to replace the last angry young man. But Tehran has a lot to protect indeed, like nuclear sites and weapons manufacturing facilities and infrastructure and their own hides. It is not lost on them that they are going to come out very, very badly in an actual and not proxy war against Israel, although little reminders like this do help the bolder among them to ponder things out. Now, they may absolutely get to the point where they’re willing to accept a lot more Lebanese dying. But how is Hezbollah now feeling about the bully who said has their back? I’d expect some symbolic stuff that’s designed to fail and then for Iran to go back to barking.
August 1, 20241 yr Popular Post NYT reporting that the bomb was planted in the guesthouse months ago and remotely detonated. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/08/01/world/middleeast/how-hamas-leader-haniyeh-killed-iran-bomb.html? Ismail Haniyeh, a top leader of Hamas, was assassinated on Wednesday by an explosive device covertly smuggled into the Tehran guesthouse where he was staying, according to seven Middle Eastern officials, including two Iranians, and an American official. The bomb had been hidden approximately two months ago in the guesthouse, according to five of the Middle Eastern officials. The guesthouse is run and protected by the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps and is part of a large compound, known as Neshat, in an upscale neighborhood of northern Tehran. Mr. Haniyeh was in Iran’s capital for the presidential inauguration. The bomb was detonated remotely, the five officials said, once it was confirmed that he was inside his room at the guesthouse. The blast also killed a bodyguard. The explosion shook the building, shattered some windows and caused the partial collapse of an exterior wall, according to the two Iranian officials, members of the Revolutionary Guards briefed on the incident. Such damage was also evident in a photograph of the building shared with The New York Times. Mr. Haniyeh, who had led Hamas’s political office in Qatar, had stayed at the guesthouse several times when visiting Tehran, according to the Middle Eastern officials. All of the officials spoke on the condition of anonymity to share sensitive details about the assassination.

August 1, 20241 yr Go Mossad. Just brilliance. Iranians likely only look for big black balls that say BOMB like a road runner cartoon. Now they all know every where they stay could be compromised. Israel is going to take them all out like they did the Black September murderers. One by fucking one. Also getting blowed up like that doesn’t count as conscious martyrdom so no parade of virgins that look like Rosie ODonnell.
August 1, 20241 yr It may be a chickenshit idea, it is a funeral after all. But if I were Israel, I would have sent about three cruise missiles as condolences. It would have taken out most of the high ranking Hezbollah command structure as well as high ranking officials from any country that is sympathetic with both Hezbollah and Hamas. If the shoe was on the other foot, neither terrorist organization would miss that opportunity if they had the weaponry to pull it off. CHIEF
August 1, 20241 yr Popular Post Talking to a friend of mine who is a retired Cold War intelligence wonk today about this... We ended up with a laundry list of questions about how and why and what this means. Lots of facets to this that all lead to a variety of interesting questions. 1. How did they know he was going to be in this specific residence 2 months ago? Did they plant this bomb 2 months ago for a jsut in case opportunity or did they know whenever he visits Tehran he always stays there and knew the bomb won't be found? Or did they plant bombs in all of the guesthouses just to be through? I bet there is a lot of ripped-up drywall right now in Tehran.. 2. How did they know he was using that specific guest house? If they planted bombs in all of them, how did they know he was in that specific one that day? If they only had the bomb in that one, how did he get assigned to that particular guest house? Was it chance or did the person involved in assigning rooms put him there on purpose? 3. How did a bomb not get detected in the wall of a guesthouse for over 2 months? So is this an extreme security failure due to poor screening? Or is this a type of bomb-making component that they can't detect? No explosive should be able to avoid detection for over 2 months in a high-end visiting diplomatic residence. Where is the failure? How many failures are there? Where else then might also be at risk? 4. Who in Tehran was involved and how did the Israelis get into the location to plant the bomb? How many points of failure in personal screening and security assessments are there? How far has Israel infiltrated the Republican Guards? 5. When do the purges start in the Security Forces? There are going to be massive questions regarding who they can trust at this point. With a new President and an aging Ayatollah the internal politics is going to be brutal. This now provides a huge cover to settle grudges and, in truth, how can they trust anyone involved in security there now? The fact that they did this in Tehran, in their high-end guest house sends an undeniable message that no one is safe from Israeli reprisals. If they can get Haniyeh there, they can get others elsewhere in Tehran and throughout the world. This sends a much larger message than people want to admit to...

August 13Aug 13 Iran issues new threat to US Quote Iran's top commanders have issued a new warning to the United States and Israel, vowing a far stronger and more punishing counterstrike if either launches new attacks against the Islamic republic. The threat came during a high-profile meeting in Tehran on Tuesday between Iran's senior military officials and South Africa's defense chief, part of a growing alignment rooted in shared opposition to what they call global arrogance and colonialism. -- Quote "The Iranian armed forces are prepared to give a harsher response to any fresh Israeli or U.S. act of aggression," Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, Iran's armed forces chief of staff, told South African General Rudzani Maphwanya, according to state media.
