Yes After initially enrolling at the University of Oregon, Sagapolutele entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal before the start of his freshman season.[6] He then transferred to play for the California Golden Bears, where he had previous committed to play prior to going to Oregon.[5] Heading into the 2025 season, he is projected to be the Golden Bears' starting quarterback, and will compete for the job with Devin Brown and C. J. Harris.[9][10]
August 18Aug 18 It was a weird deal at the time I remember. Oregon swooped in at the last minute with a bag.

J-KS made it through Bowl practices with UO and then skedaddled. Dante Moore must be that dude for ‘25 (speaking of transfers…at least he spent 2023 at UCLA).
August 18Aug 18 Agiye Hall committed to Sacramento State back in January this year, but he's not listed on their roster.

JKS was all in on Cal and was a long time commit. Allegedly, Mendoza called him the day before signing day and talked a lot of shit about how he wasn't going to come in and take his job, he needs to know his place blah blah. There was a bit of a perfect storm around that alleged call and his subsequent disillusionment over the Cal "family" atmosphere he was drawn to plus a ton of pressure in Hawaii to commit to Oregon (continue the legacy of great Hawaiian QBs at Oregon) that he impulsively pulled the trigger on early signing day to go with Oregon. Both Cal and Oregon staffs were stunned and hadn't even thought it was a possibility (Oregon signed 2 other QBs that day because they didn't expect JKS at all). Mendoza then promptly transfers leaving Cal with nothing in the QB room. This is why a significant portion of the Cal fanbase now hates Mendoza with the fire of a thousand suns. Everyone gets it that he might look around after getting pummeled all season cause the Oline sucked ass. But there is a lot of distaste over how his Dad was shopping him from mid season on, quitting on the team the week of the last game at SMU (he was "sick" yet laughing and joking on the sidelines while the team got railed), his immature and not factual bitching about how much NIL he was getting compared to the other QBs and then the infamous call to JKS that helped flip him away... Fernando Mendoza is a fucking little insecure bitch who thinks he is way better than he is. Anywho, JKS gets to the Oregon campus in the dead of winter and lasted about 2 weeks before he was all "fuck THIS", called the Cal coaches and promptly transferred before the Spring semester started. And that, kids, is how Jaron Keawe Sagapolutele came to Cal.
September 1Sep 1 eh...he's on the team, but not exactly playing: Since leaving San Marcos, he's only played in 3 games. 1 TD and 2 INT.
September 1Sep 1 Not sure why outlets are reporting it today. He was on the team last week. Since May, apparently: Edited September 1Sep 1 by GJ Winne

September 15Sep 15 Since the players from VT and UCLA can enter the portal within the next 30 days, are there any RB, WR, or OL we’d be interested in. I get both teams were TRASH but I’m sure even on those teams there’s a player or two you take, especially given OL and RB issues.

Or else teams would be adding impact players before the playoffs start, since that is prime firing season?

I don't know with certainty, but from what I am reading it sounds like they can transfer and play immediately. From the article: "Some teams that discovered they have quarterback concerns through 3 weeks of action could contact the UCLA signal-caller to be a mid-season fix, although there is also much to be said about the difficulties of pulling something like that off."

Feels like your biggest hurdle is getting someone enrolled super late after school has started. Unless you’re on quarters, like Stanford or UW (don’t start until next week)

You cannot play for 2 teams during the same season, it’s against NCAA rules.

September 15Sep 15 These players are allowed to put their names in the portal. Since they have yet to play 4 games, they are eligible to use a redshirt. They will not be able to play for another team this season.
September 15Sep 15 So, uh, who's worse? Arch or Nico going forward? I kid. Nico is the obvious choice. /s

No visitors/interest that I can remember. Maybe they look at a Velton Gardner break-glass-in-case-of-emergency type guy. WR - Definitely seems like they'd take another badass with experience. Wouldn't everyone? TE - Likely done with Endries? OL - Flood doesn't seem like a portal guy, and we're looking at a huge high school class, so I don't see it. IDL - Gotta be done with 5(!) additions from the portal so far. EDGE - I could definitely see it. We brought in the Stanford guy for a visit. Would have to be someone they think can contribute. LB - This one I'm not sure. Seems like Spence is getting good reviews. Depth chart is a little light in underclassmen though. If the right guy came along that had a few years to play like Watson, seems like it'd make sense. DB - I wouldn't think so unless it's a guy that's just too good to pass up. The depth chart is stacked and crowded. P - Done K - Done Thoughts?
October 5Oct 5 All those IDLs and they got one guy who’s a difference maker (Kanu). The others are jags.

And average would be a huge upgrade at those two positions

Just let it out as the season winds down or after the season is over the portal is going to importance for a certain position and the interest will be there.
October 6Oct 6 If Connor Stroh plays football for your football team, you've fucked up something somewhere along the way.
