Not sure if Quinn was just getting ball out quick but that ugly motherfucker had a quiet night before that play. The Cowboys drafted that scrub Guyton in the first. Good chance Williams will be drafted high (1/2 round) if he declares. OT is also probably at its highest premium in the NFL in recent memory. The lack of high end tackle talent is a known issue around the league.
January 11Jan 11 The same “experts” that claim a player isn’t ready will tell you that Shedeur Sanders is a Top 3 pick. He sucks. He won’t do shit in the NFL. He’s slow and has a weak arm. He’s hyped because the media loves Coach Prime.

We're belaboring that last 4th down but he had a really rough night last night overall. Not the first time Sawyer just smoked him. OL and QB are the two positions that benefit most from coming back an extra year. I think he could certainly use one to clean up his game. He's going to have an extremely rough rookie year if he declares. But if the NFL is still telling him first round he should obviously go get that bag. Will be interesting.

Anything to help Sark call simple power runs when needed. I grow tired of the cute & ineffective red zone play calling. Sark needs to find someone to play the role of a traditional fullback in goalline sets that’s not just a defensive lineman. I think Baxter and Gibson with another year in the S&C program can be good short yardage backs, but they need someone in front of them to help clear the way.
January 11Jan 11 Tigerdroppings has a couple of pages all thinking Derek Williams is about to portal to them. Looks like a bunch of wishful thinking and the LSU On3 mod (Dixon) shot it down.

He suited up for almost every game but became essentially non-existent and started getting outsnapped by Wingo who didn't do that much either. It was also surprising to see Vasek suddenly getting real snaps last night. Has he played all year? Interesting time to throw him in there. Didn't watch him closely but seemed like he played well. Might be able to pencil him into the 2-deep next year. Also, I withdraw my previous surprise about looking for a portal OG. Please get that USC guy. I also remember seeing a lot of Alex January in the first quarter, which was surprising. If they like him enough to play him in that game, maybe that explains why they haven't gone hard after another DT (yet). Bond won't come back but he should. He wasn't the same player after the ankle injury. Before the OU game, he was considered a first rounder. I can't imagine that he still is and one more solid season would really help his draft stock - especially if he's using his speed to get open and catch long passes from Arch. I feel Cam Williams could also really benefit from one more college season. But he's got that first round grade so he pretty much has to go. Would love to get Golden back as well but I can't imagine that happens either.
January 11Jan 11 Idle speculation about NFL standing is fascinating stuff. I know it affects the portal choices, but man it's dull as shit.

January 11Jan 11 Yea if we had options, it would be great to move on from Bond. But if he comes back without it breaking the bank, we could really use his speed element and he would hopefully know the offense better next year.
January 11Jan 11 I mean, when healthy he was a key to the offense. Let the ankle heal up and he’s absolutely worth keeping. Not sure why he would come back if he’s getting 1/2 grades.

January 11Jan 11 Moore will play more outside linebacker in the NFL. I think another year proving he has lb skills would be beneficial.

The time Quinn missed + the time Bond missed clearly affected their rhythm. Golden and Helm became the top options with Moore sliding in as third and Bond never reasserted himself in the offense afterward. I think if we saw him back next year you would see a completely different result with Arch.

January 11Jan 11 Bond is a much better fit with a QB that can throw the ball down the field with some accuracy. His best game came with Manning as the QB.

For all the talk of our awesome offensive line, they haven’t been dominant this year. We have to be able to move people when we’re at the 1. The problem was the OL was incongruent. The left tackle was all world at everything. Then LG and C were finesse stretch zone blockers who couldn't drive forward in the run against most teams. Then the RG and RT were power blocking maulers who struggled in the zone reach blocks. It's why I don't understand not having a separate package for short yardage with Hutson at center and Neto at LG. Get a full line of power blocking maulers to go to in those situations. That should have been obvious this time last year since the 2023 team had the same issue. That said, I don't know if they tried but just didn't feel it worked well. Would love to know if they ever tried.

January 12Jan 12 Ignore the stupid ass take saying it was an embarrassing drop. Look at that throw. If he hits him in stride it may have even been a TD. He clearly threw it behind him. Should Bond have caught it, maybe? Should the throw have been better, absolutely.
